I see this corruption while browsing with Google Chrome or Chromium. The white
rectangle can be almost the same size as my browser window leaving me hardly
enough visible space to open a terminal and run unity --replace . I get this

I have just installed Oneiric into a virtual machine and tested the
plugins _without_ having the proposed repository enabled. As expected,
D-Bus Service, Jamenod, Python Console and Subtitle Dowloader failed.
Then I enabled the proposed repository, upgraded the totem package and
checked again:
D-Bus Service, Jamendo and Python Console can be enabled on my laptop
and they remain enabled after restarting Totem. I checked the python
console and it works (did not know how to check the other two plugins
but there's nor warning or error on the console).
The issue is with the subtitle editor

I think that's the way it's supposed to work. The welcome screen of
LibreOffice opens up first and then based on the actual file type it
switches to writer/calc/etc. If you type LibreOffice in Unity then you
will find this generic welcome screen with the black and white icon.

can fix this more properly.

I have installed wine1.2 from the proposed repository and it looks good
to me. I am using a few windows applications and they all work fine,
some better than with the original wine version in Lucid e.g. ImgBurn

I managed to fix the brightness issue on my Dell M1530, Ubuntu 10.04. The Fn
key worked but the notification was out of sync. Adding the
acpi_backlight=vendor to the grub command line solved the problem.
I edited the /etc/default/grub file, GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX row. Remember to run
sudo
This bug is not present in the version in the proposed repository. I can
open openoffice files or the openoffice applications from the menu
without having duplicate icons.
