manager of Thunderbird.
It's slightly different because this plugin is installed specifically for the

Yes, I would like to keep my netbook with 12.04.x LTS if possible.

alpha (kernel 3.2.0-12-generic).

recognised at startup, so NetworkManager does not find the right MAC

Regarding the comparison with a snapscan e20, I gave a wrong information : it
takes around 1 minute 30 seconds to scan an A4 at 600 dpi with a snapscan e20

I think it is related to sane-backends, not simple-scan

The same steps reproduced the problem with you latest kernel.

I plugged in the FreeRunner around 15:04:04, and the error appears at 15:04:20

I also installed libsane and sane-utils from the PPA on a Ubuntu 10.04.
Scanning now works with my HP Scanjet 3670 : thanks a lot!
But it is very slow through xsane :
- when I click to have a preview or to make the scan, it waits around 20
seconds before the scanner starts to move
- when scanning
There seems to be a workaround here (listed as problem n°4) :
