alright :) Didn't die on me, and I was daring (opening all sorts of tabs at
once)! The signal is a bit unstable though. I'm right next to the router and it
shows 52% of signal, and then 83%, and then 68%. That's

rt73 following a tutorial on the ubuntu foruns, but with no luck. If you could

goodmacman, I know my problem has nothing to do with heating... It's not
really a usb stick, even though it uses the rt73usb driver... Sometimes
I've just turned on the computer and the driver dies because I tried to
access Google Reader when GReader is in one of those bad server days...

I did compile it, only it didn't really work. Which is why I'm stuck waiting

I'm with Kyle here. I can't use my laptop at University because of this
problem, since everytime the connection dies and I reboot the computer I
can't connect to the wi-fi net anymore because the Uni system says I
didn't disconnect (I have to click a disconnect link), so I'm still
logged and will

this bug may not prevent anyone from booting, but it makes people have
to boot every time the driver fails (at least that's how I'm dealing
with it, considering I'm unable to do anything that involves compiling

if anyone has an easier idiot-proof fix, I'd really appreciate it. I'm

darn, that didn't work.
it recognizes the wlan0 and wlan0 seems to be up, but I can't use the
internet. when I do the dhclient wlan0 it seems like something goes wrong:
No DHCPOFFERS received.
No working leases in persistent database - sleeping.

I'm using Hardy and I'm having a similar problem. If I leave Evolution
open and minimized, it seems to be all ok for quite some time, but if I
try to plug in an usb external drive or, say, change the wallpaper (and
when I want to change wallpaper I might spend some time with the
appearance window
alright. I can confirm that apparently the backports package fixes
rt73usb on Intrepid :) I've been doing some really heavy websurfing and
downloading and it's all going pretty smooth, without dying. so, yay!

Leann. I'm on Intrepid and still having this problem (with rt73usb).
I was doing fine on Hardy with the backports-module package. When I
tried this backports module on Intrepid it kinda made it all worse and
then after an update the computer wouldn't even turn on. That was a
while ago, though.
Leann, just installed linux-backports-modules and wicd is now at 100%
instead of 78%. But all other networks around mine are also with a 100%
signal, so I don't know if that means anything. So far so good. I'll let
you know if I it dies. Or if it lives on :)

I got the same thing. The terminal has been stuck at this for over an
hour now. I had closed it and then it told me to run 'sudo dpkg
--configure -a'. I did, and then it got stuck at that part again. Now I
can't install anything or even open Synaptic until this is fixed, it
seems. Can't I just go
I didn't do anything. And then I tried again and it finished the
installation.

label name? I renamed a few labels recently, adding a ~ to them, and
after I renamed them in Checkgmail, it stopped working, wouldn't launch
and all.
