[Bug 1346234] Re: Allow running updates without authentication
Hi Harald. I'm sorry, I understood it as I *could* configure it locally. This was meant as way to make things easier for all Kubuntu users. Perhaps this is the wrong forum to bring it up ? [Bug 1346234] Re: Allow running updates without authentication
I originally filed the bug on Muon Updater because I do not wish to create a situation where the user can install/remove stuff without authenticating. I do not think from a security point of view there is a problem in running updates that would in other situations be run automatically but the system. Should I understand that it is not straightforward to grant Update rights without granting install/remove rights? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1346234 Title: Allow running updates without authentication To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libqapt/+bug/1346234/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1346234] [NEW] Allow running updates without authentication
Public bug reported: In muon-updater when running updates the action scope of the user is limited to update the packages or don't. For people in sudoers (users not governed by a sysadmin) the authentication/type your password step could be skipped as they can't really do anything to compromise the system. According to Muons developers this is configurable through Polkit. If we changed this default it would running updates on Kubuntu less of a hassle. It may also improve security as there are less reasons to constantly type your password - which may be exploited by a scam. ** Affects: kubuntu-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1346234 Title: Allow running updates without authentication To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kubuntu-meta/+bug/1346234/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 60752] Re: Does not resume from suspend
It's very strange! I've been following the guide on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspend When I run the following as root, I resume just fine: sync; echo 1 /sys/power/pm_trace; /etc/acpi/sleep.sh force however, when I suspend using the Guidance power manager I don't resume properly. Could this be a permissions problem? //Pascal -- Does not resume from suspend https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/60752 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 60752] Re: Does not resume from suspend
just tried to suspend again with the powermanager when /sys/power/pm_trace = 1 upon resume the screen started to flickered with colors for about 5 seconds and then X restarted and I was presented with KDM logon prompt. I logged on and it seems to work ok, expect that my session was kicked. I'm attaching the dmesg output. ** Attachment added: dmesg.txt http://launchpadlibrarian.net/18540397/dmesg.txt -- Does not resume from suspend https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/60752 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
