Like Thomas, I was concerned but I followed their instructions and
disabled the driver. After restarting, I reactivated the driver that
Ubunut offered me. Everything seems to be running alright.

I can confirm this on an upgrade of Ubuntu 10.10 from 10.04 (it was
originally a Kubuntu 10.04 installation, but I added the Ubuntu Desktop
also). As far as I know, KMS is still running (as I'm not sure how to
disable it), and I have essentially the same dmesg output as the
submitter.

I wasn't able to attach both files to the original submission. Attached
is the syslog file.
Also, I have previously installed Kubuntu on this computer. This was a
reinstallation. I may have chosen the wrong option for GRUB (I chose

I should add this information also. It only happened when I tried to
install using the Live CD. I ended up getting Kubuntu 9.10 to install

I noticed this whenever I started a virtual machine inside of VMWare
Player. I'm on a Toshiba Satellite A105-S2194 laptop with a 32-bit
processor and 1.5G RAM (running Kubuntu 10.04 32-bit).
I'm not entirely sure if the issue is the same, but I posted a video of
it on YouTube at
