The bug was fixed by unistalling the package hal, hal-info and libmbca0 (this
file was reported by dpkg) and then reinstalling them
The process went like this:
sudo dpkg -r hal hal-info
and if any other file is showing error add that file also, then
sudo aptitude reinstall

After googling i could find the answer and The bug is fixed by
uninstalling the erring packages :
sudo dpkg -r hal hal-info
and then reinstalling them by:
sudo aptitude reinstall
That will solve the problem if any other file is also detected creating problem
that also can be removed and

it is mp3 as that is what i am using, recently it stopped playing with the

it will remain
for that particular song again it will restart on the change of the song file
Looks like both are related with change of song as and when song change
occurs VLC player goes back to its default confiuration I am using
Intrepid ubuntu 8.10
