Talking with deryni in #pidgin on freenode, he indicated the root of the
issue: /etc/purple/prefs.xml
The file there is the default prefs, and it's faulty. It needs to be
fixed. Here is the pidgin-developer approved patch. This should replace
that file. Note that docklet.so was an old plugin for
Odd... can someone verify? I'm not at home at the moment. If it doesn't
work, then at least the prefs.xml is solid, and should be repackaged
with pidgin-data..
Note that you should also remove the item docklet.so.

I was having problems setting up LAMP, mailman and mediawiki, so decided
to go back to the beginning. So I set about uninstalling them.
Unfortunately, sudo tasksel remove lamp-server caused lots of things
to be deleted - so much so that a fresh
downloaded.
I have no idea how to create a grub menu, which was never written into
/boot/grub, or fix the mbr. This needs to work better. As a first time
new user experience, this is not pretty.

I just installed another OS to try. Thanks anyway. I don't have the time or

I just tried Bieleke suggestion (#13 posted 2008-11-10) in a new
installation of Thunderbird under Ubuntu 9.04. The suggestion worked
fine for me.

When I try to install a firefox addon in Ubuntu 9.04 lately most of time
it won't install also my addons listing under tools menu in firefox no

I have Ubuntu one sharing between my desktop and Laptop, i updated a
document on my laptop but the updated file was not downloaded to my
desktop. so only my laptop had the updated file. Also receiving proxy
error when trying to get the files though thew web interface.

Update: I can reproduce this with 64-bit Mozilla builds of Firefox on
Windows 7 and Vista. Can anyone repro it? Could this be an NSS issue?

Update: I have meanwhile fixed the problem. I removed the directory
~/.gconf/apps/nautilus. Bingo - open-terminal now works again
(actually, I renamed it to get it out of the way, but no matter, the
situation is fixed now).
