[Bug 1875505] Re: Unity Tweak Tool or the Appearance settings can't find Yaru

2020-07-04 Thread Rudra Saraswat
@seb128 The issue looks to be with Unity Tweak Tool, not Yaru, as most
themes get detected there.

@yamiyukisenpai The themes are hardcoded in the code for Appearance
Settings (unity-control-center), thus Yaru doesn't appear (only Adwaita,
Ambiance, Radiance and High Contrast appear).

[Bug 1874430] Re: Reintroduce Sugar packages to Ubuntu 20.04 LTS

2020-07-02 Thread Rudra Saraswat
I think this isn't fixed as the question asked to reintroduce packages
in 20.04 LTS (although it is nice that it was added in 20.10).
Unfortunately, since I do not have the rights, I cannot change the
status back to 'Confirmed' (as it was changed to 'Fix Released' by
janitor). Could someone else please do that?

[Bug 1446760] Re: sddm and lightdm can run at the same time

2020-06-05 Thread Rudra Saraswat
@paulw2u If I'm wrong, please correct me. IMO it is 'Invalid' as it
could not be reproduced in newer releases. Also, 15.04 and 15.10 both
are not being supported anymore. So, I guess the status of either
'Invalid' or 'Fix Released' should be ok. By the way, I guess I had
changed only the status of the Papercuts task and missed changing the
status of the sddm task mistakenly. Sorry for the trouble.

@jbicha I'm not sure why this package wasn't approved, since the other
flavours do have settings packages (such as ubuntustudio-default-
settings and lubuntu-default-settings, as well as kubuntu-settings-

[Bug 1969357] Re: Unity7 crashes on Jammy with 22.04's gnome-session version

2022-04-21 Thread Rudra Saraswat
Turns out that Ubiquity was removing dbus-x11 (was included in it's
remove list), so I've removed it from Ubiquity's package remove list and
released Ubuntu Unity 22.04 (didn't find any issues after that):

[Bug 1969357] Re: Unity7 crashes on Jammy with 22.04's gnome-session version

2022-04-20 Thread Rudra Saraswat
I tried using GDM3 as suggested by Khurshid, and it works perfectly fine
with GDM3 and the latest version of gnome-session. Guess I'll release
Ubuntu Unity 22.04 with GDM instead of lightdm since it's too late to
release an update to fix this for lightdm users before the release.

[Bug 1969357] Re: Unity7 crashes on Jammy with 22.04's gnome-session version

2022-04-20 Thread Rudra Saraswat
Hi Marco, I didn't get any error on an old but up-to-date installation
of 22.04 with LightDM, but got a login error from gnome-session when
using a fresh Ubuntu 22.04 daily-live ISO and installing Unity7 on top
of it (with both gdm and lightdm). Apparently, it works after installing
the old version of gnome-session and then going back to the latest
version with both GDM and lightdm (and doesn't work on both GDM and
lightdm without doing so). This might be why it works on old up-to-date
installs of 22.04 but not on fresh installs (which have the latest
version of gnome-session installed).

[Bug 1969357] Re: Unity7 crashes on Jammy with 22.04's gnome-session version

2022-04-21 Thread Rudra Saraswat
I just did a fresh install (again) of Ubuntu Unity 22.04 (an iso I built
just now) and it looks like dbus-x11 was not installed by default and
installing it without touching gnome-session (and then rebooting) fixed
the issue (I didn't install or remove any another packages). This works
with both GDM and lightdm. Looks like gnome-session wasn't causing the
issue and dbus-x11 was getting installed when installing gnome-session's
old version, which is why it started working after installing the old
version of gnome-session.

[Bug 1977651] [NEW] Support for removal of snaps from inside a chroot

2022-06-04 Thread Rudra Saraswat
Public bug reported:

It would be great if support for removal of packages was supported in
chroots, like installation is supported through seeds.

This is going to prevent us from releasing Ubuntu Web 22.04's Brave
edition. We want to remove the Firefox snap from it, but looks like
packages can't be removed from a seed.yaml file (to replace it with the
Brave snap).

This doesn't only affect flavors and remixes like Ubuntu Unity, Ubuntu
Web, Ubuntu Cinnamon etc, but also affects people who

1) build ISOs with tools like the Ubuntu Remix Builder
(https://gitlab.com/ubuntu-unity/ubuntu-remixes) and @PJSingh5000's
Cubic project for their regular setups

2) develop downstream distros which remove snap packages when building
inside a chroot

3) build images for their embedded devices using their own builders (not
Ubuntu's builder) which build inside a chroot

I think this issue is really important and should be re-opened.
(seed.yaml is only a temporary workaround for very few usecases)

2022-04-18 Thread Rudra Saraswat
