I can confirm that the bug still happens on Karmic -- the Java applet
crashes X after a couple of seconds.
Regarding backtracking, I have apport running (and it did not catch the
backtrace). I also tried the gdb way, but as soon as I attached gdb to
Xorg the machine froze, or at least all dislays
