1) This is not a duplicate of #782810, because that was opened for
Ubuntu 11.04. In our case, the CPU usage was OK in 11.04, and gone to
25% upgrading to 11.10.
2) Maybe it is related to ATI cards and fglrx drivers? I have ATI Radeen
HD 4200.

Typeahead functionality for nautilus is broken
I have the same problem, every shutdown hangs. I tried this before
shutdown and it worked correctly:
- killed nm-applet from System Monitor
- sudo service network-manager stop
- sudo service networking restart
Maybe the only command needed is 2°, stopping the network-manager
service.

The backspace key still go back in folders instead of deleting
characters in typehead box.

I also have done some tries, and can say that stopping network-manager
does not help, instead the computer shut down correctly if I do: sudo
/etc/init.d/networking stop
So reading many comments it seems a problem related to networking engine
in general.

Same thing here installing Natty beta 1 (destkop 32 bit) on a VirtualBox
virtual machine.
The name I typed not really existed on the network (I had only one PC
connected).
When going to password textbox and typing, the message disappeared and I
was able to go ahead.

I reinstalled Ubuntu 11.04 from scratch, and the touchpad now works
correctly. So I think it was some parameter not correctly migrated from
10.10 to 11.04

was blocked on flashplugin-installer: downloading..., but in my case
