I have the same problem. Compaq Evo N620C with Xubuntu Karmic and ATI Technologies Inc Radeon Mobility M7 LW [Radeon Mobility 7500] graphic card - System Monitor and notifications are not readable - as shown on first screenshot attached here. -- gnome-system-monitor shows blur window in Karmic.
