I have the same problem on a Thinkpad T60, tried to install from live cd
with ubiquitiy. I wanted to share my /var/log/installer/syslog file, but
there's only a file named version in that directory...

I can confirm this problems, I have a Thinkpad T60 with an atheros a/b/g
wlan-card. Since my school uses quite a complicated (at least for
network-manager) wlan setup with wep(!), peap, mschapv2 and so on I have to use
wpa_supplicant without network manager.

I have the same problems with a Thinkpad T61 and the same graphics adapter. My
screen is a Samsung SyncMaster 243T. When connected on the dvi port of the
dock, I get the signal out of range message as soon as gdm should appear. I can
login blindly and get to gnome, but that's not too elegant.
Same error here and also during copying mp3 files.
killall nautilus does the trick until the error comes again, but that's not too
elegant since I loose all my open nautilus windows.

It seems to be fixed in Feisty, I just inserted the CD to burn the Gutsy
image while having banshee playing a selection. Banshee didn't crash, it
just changed into the New Audio CD view (which is a bit annoying since
it was only running in the background). It didn't freeze and I could
normally go
