I am using an old Sony TR1MP 32bit laptop, ubuntu 12.04 (the system is
not supported by later ubuntu versions).
I use a Micronet wireless USB dongle since the inbuilt wifi is very
slow, and is disabled by blacklisting it. The dongle shows if it is

having written up my comment the system threw it away. I shall try

The syslog attached specifies that there is a Kernel Bug, version
3.2.0-60-generic. It says that khubd is 'tainted'.

I found that with Libreoffice if I changed something, opened the menu,
save and undo were greyed out. If I moved away from the menu and then
went back to it, save and undo were now available.
Further, the shortcut underlines do not appear in the menu. This is a

I am on ubuntu 13.10 client, xubuntu 13.10 (headless) server. The
client has Remmina 1.0.0.4 installed (confirmed with synaptic), although
the 'about' reports only 0.9.99.1 for itself and all plugins which is
most confusing.
The server has xrdp 0.6.0-1 installed.
I cannot get copy and paste from
On my 32 bit system the 32 bit version fails to install as an extension.
I'm not quite sure what the problem is. It looked a bit as if it
expected mysql to be installed on the PC I'm connecting from (and
possibly open office as well).
I'll continue with JDBC for now, but hope that ubuntu will fix
Apologies for my last post (#8), I wasn't as clear as I should have
been.
What I meant was that the workaround in #6 didn't work for me. I could
not get get the open office extension to install at all.

A workaround which is OK for me is to use Mysql(JDBC). It is slower,
but it seems to work. Whether it is suitable for commercial use I
couldn't say.

I was on 12.04 and had the report builder installed. I upgraded to
12.10 yesterday and am horrified to find I no longer have my Base

unfortunately print-to-file doesn't work for me. My particular problem
is a Windows program running under Wine, and print-to-file in that
environment has a similar problem. I have found a fairly diabolical
work-around for my current problem (involving Access 2003 to RTF, to
Word 2003 to DOC, to L

under wine produce a postcript file, but this does not seem to provide
searchable text. This may be a Wine bug.
