Same issue occurs for me using Intrepid Beta/HP 6730b laptop/Intel
Graphics/Compiz/Beryl
I concur exactly the situation Hew McLachlan wrote on 2008-06-21, this
exact scenario works for me.
In all cases F11 x2 restores the window border.
Things I have found to cause window border to disappear:
I second bododod's comments - I have put up with this bug for over a
year now. It is especially bad for someone who then want's to correlate
GPS data (geotag) there photos.
How can we get this bug fixed before Jaunty?

f-spot changes timestamp in an incorrect way
The canon cameras in stiching mode generally append the image number
with sta_.jpg, stb_.jpg where is the same image number.
I would like to see this feature in f-spot also - perhaps calling hugin.
Not sure how other cameras handle photo stitch mode images though.

I also receive this error running Intrepid (8.10) using digikam 0.9.4 in
gnome (the about screen in digikam says I am using KDE Libraries 3.5.10.
To create error I click show in google maps button on geotagged photo.

kernel 2.6.7-10 from intrepid-proposed. Suspending to RAM again and
resuming seems to fix the issue.
However sometimes the issue only occurs every four resumes rather than
every second resume
