My logitech cordless elite bluetooth hub connects with USB.
When you get the first login prompt, just pull out the USB plug, wait a second
or two and plug it back in. Both your keyboard and mouse will then wake up.
Tadaaa!
I fully agree that this is the most pathetically tedious bug I have ever
multiseats that are (by now) pretty stable - and
still on ubuntu 6.06 (on all but 1 of the boxes).
So, please don't close this as it really should be explained or sorted
out.

The promise driver incorrectly reports three SATA ports on cards with
two SATA, one PATA port. After, when tries to initialise the third - in
fact the PATA port as SATA - it fails, and causes kernel oops.
Furthermore the additional PATA port in SATA controllers is currently
supported only in
I turned off DPMS in the KDE system settings, and the problem's gone on
both machines.

Unfortunately I was wrong. The bug _did_ occur with DPMS switched off.
Tell me if you need more info.

Public bug reported:
Daily updates feisty. xserver-xorg (7.2-0ubuntu11) freezes when left
running for a longer period. I use kubuntu on both machines so it might
be a KDE bug. When I leave my Kubuntu box running overnight, in the
morning X takes 100% CPU time and does not redraw the window

The attached files came from the NVidia box. The ATI box has 2GB swap,
and exhibits the same problem.

Trying to investigate the cause, I'm starting to suspect the bug is
related to lack of desktop activity for a time period. Last time it
happened after ~2 hours of inactivity. Screensaver was disabled, next I
disable DPMS to see if it has any effect.

Here's the dmesg for the PS2 keyboard. (The PS2-USB adapter is still
connected but there's no keyboard or mouse attached to it).

PS2 keyboard problem
Just for reference, here's dmesg when the keyboard is connected to USB.
And to answer your question, yes, edgy is still affected. I'm using
2.6.17-10-generic #2 SMP and the problem report is valid for this kernel
too. The box is a HP dc7600C.
** Attachment added: dmesg output with the keyboard
I can confirm Philipp's report, the i8042 boot options did not help.
I'll try Herd 2 when I have some time. In the meantime, here's a diff
between two dmesgs. The first boot is a normal PS2 boot which results
in no keyboard. The second boot was exactly the same but I kept pressing
Ctrl to make it
Feisty Herd 2 installer works properly here too.
