remembering The update manager identified some updates, but blocked the
avaliable new kernel (don't know why). Then i get all the avaliable updates
(including new kernel) by using synaptic (i like synaptic) when i restarted

I'm testing Intrepid beta. I did the installation and the first package
update. After the well successful installation, I turned off the desktop
effects by using gnome-appearance-properties to switch from Normal to
None
I can confirm this also on my laptop with Feisty. This bug is quite annoying
because the program is completely useless this way, most of the commands are
not accessible with mouse pointer.

As far as I know, the enblend program is needed to to the final

Well I got the exactly same effect on my laptop: Samsung X20 since kde
3.5.5 (dapper/edgy) ...
It's all working fine in gnome but in kde since 3.5.5 i get this grey

I noticed that this occurs on my laptop (Feisty), but not on my desktop

Yes, that's a workaround, but it's a feisty-only problem. I just
installed OOo 2.2 RC3 on my Edgy machine and it's hasn't no problems
with font rendering.

Well, maybe i became nuts!!!
But what i said was exactly what happened and not only with one dvd... i just
lost another copy from the same sony dvd-R brand while trying to mount it once
again in edgy eft yesterday.
And it's impossible that the disc was damaged before by dust,
Sounds as a good compromise to me. The only important thing is that
people should be able to install GRASS without adding external
repositories and editing by hand source.list, I'm sure you get what I
mean
