1. ctrl+alt+F1
2. type user und password
3. sudo -s
4. echo -n xx /proc/acpi/video/NVID/LCD/brightness
5. ctrl+alt+F7
*4. f.e. xx = 30

when i am changing it withe the fn-keys, the keyboard doesn't work
correctly.

hello, i tested even now the pre-release of fedora 10 and i could change
the brightness with the applet from the panel. the fn-keys doesn't work
too in fedora. the question is now, where the difference is between
fedora and ubuntu.

i installed even ubuntu 9.04 alpha 2 and i can change the brightness with the
applet in the panel.
The change with the FN-Keys doesn't work, but it works with the applet in the
panel ;)

Hi Chris,
my last comment was with the nv driver. When i'm using FN-Key+brightness down,
the brightness is changing but it's going completely down to 40%. It has 5
steps but it allways going down or up completely. The next bug is that the
keyboard after using the FN-Key+brightness doesn't work
