I installed Win 10 & still had audio glitching. This is not a software
bug, got working in Mint 18.3 (will now test Ubuntu Beaver.) I have a
3.5mm audio splitter for double monitor set up. The upper one is toast
(soundwise). Whether this is due to running full amplification not
sure?!? What say
I have installed a PCI soundcard & it demonstrates same behavior. With
amplification off, volume at 100%.
Turning sound down seems to cure, but obviously this is not loud
enough!?!

Actually, although it goes through the motions under XFCE DE, the actual
volume level does not rise fall. The GUI will show volume
increasing/decreasing but volume can only be controlled from system tray
left click.
So, basically, volume hot keys do not work under XFCE or Xubuntu
environment.

I only noticed no pidgin sounds, but they are working again now this
minute. I did a clean install of Lucid. I installed ubuntu-audio-
dev/ppa in software sources as was having trouble with no sound after
hibernate/sleep distorted pidgin notifications. It updates quite

Bus: PCI Bus architecture
Memory (standard): 128 MB (PC100) (on the system board)
Memory (optional): Max of 512 MB DIMM (PC133-SDRAM)
Display: 14.1-inch, 16M colors, XGA (1024×768 resolution) TFT
Not a problem for me any more with current patched Maveric install.
(Though another bug is distortion with Pidgin notifications, but will
raise another case if persistent.)
I think it could of been that the audio was resuming muted from
hibernate/sleep mode.

When using latest Maverick release the wireless connection will not auto
resume, I have to use right click context menu to disable then re-enable
networking.

Public bug reported:
When entering sleep or hibernate and then resuming there is no sound.
Entering:
sudo alsa force-reload
at the terminal will restore sound, but bug is highly annoying. This
was true of Karmic I had hoped fixed for Lucid.
I am running Lucid generic on a vintage IBM

IBM T21 laptop. Can force reload but would really appreciate a fix.
