I added the PPA via terminal with: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-audio-dev/ppa but when checking for new software via sudo apt-get update or using update manager, nothing is downloaded. I am a bit of a newb to all this, for which I apologise! How do I actually download the linux-alsa-driver-modules-generic package? I only noticed no pidgin sounds, but they are working again now this minute. I did a clean install of Lucid. I installed ubuntu-audio- dev/ppa in software sources as was having trouble with no sound after hibernate/sleep distorted pidgin notifications. Actually, although it goes through the motions under XFCE DE, the actual volume level does not rise fall. The GUI will show volume increasing/decreasing but volume can only be controlled from system tray left click.
