Problem when using Samba Shares:
When I edit files (i.e. using gedit) that lie on the Network share and I
happen to remove some content (making the file smaller in size) and then
save the file, The file
I can reproduce the bug even on shares that reside on the same machine:
In Nautilus I right-click on a folder and chose file sharing options
to make it a writable share.
Then, again in Nautilus, I navigate to network and mount the share by
clicking on it and supplying username and password.
I
The bug ONLY occurs when the share is mounted via Nautilus.
When I mount the same share using the command line smbmount utility
(as root) everything works like it should.

I restored the last lucid kernel from by backup and using this one the

Hi I experience the same problem on one of my 64bit oneirc systems.
I just upgraded two machines from natty to oneirc, and one of them is affected
by the bug, the other not.
Very strange.
Anyway I followed the instructions mentioned in post #2 and attached the
resulting file.

The problem is somehow triggerd by the installed languages.
I had English, German, French, Italian, Portuguise and Esperanto
installed on the machine that was affected by the bug.
Now I just removed all languages but English and German, and now the
user-accounts starts up as it should.

Most of the time the indicator menus work as intended on the primary screen,
and the bug occurs on the secondary.

I can confirm that the indicators do no longer shift on my Acer
Travelmate 6292 ( Intel Graphics ).
Still I'm not completely happy, as one issue remains:
When I connect the external Monitor the Top Panel has a nasty Background, the
lower 1/4 of the Panel has the wrong color (see image attached)
This bug seems to be fixed in 12.04.
I just tested with 12.04 beta1.

I came to find this bug report because this mix of light and dark menus
seemed to be a bug to me.
Now I learned that this seems to be an intended design change - dark
menus from dark elements, light menus from light elements.
Anyway I personally do not like this. It still looks like a bug to me.
It seems to be fixed in oneiric

Since I upgraded to natty the bluetooth mouse does no longer get auto-connected
when I switch it on.
I found that pressing the connect Button on the mouse and then choosing
connect from the bluetooth-applets context menu temporarily fixes the problem

I tested on my Natty installation in virtualbox 4.04.
gnome-settings-daemon is still running, but obviously not functioning well.
I copied the crash-file from /var/crash to my home directory,and then,
in a terminal window, I ran the following commands :

Strange enough, although both have the same problem, only one of them has a
crash file in /var/crash.

The mouse offset was in the opposite direction - I had to click above the

smb seems to be OK with the packages from ubuntu-proposed.
But ftp still has some problems.
Although geany and scite seem to work OK now I got issues withquite basic
commands.
Testcase:
- connect a ftp share with nautilus.
- start a terminal and cd to the .gvfs/my_ftp_share directory
- then

I had the same issue, the panels took a long time to start.
I didn't have the passwordless login enabled.
But turning passwordless login on, (remove the mark from ask for
password then click OK) and then turning it off again, (set the mark
ask for password and click OK) fixed the problem.

This is a regression bug.
Using Jaunty Jackalope the internal Microphone worked as intended on the ZG5.
With Karmic I'm not sure.
Starting with Lucid Lynx the internal Microphone only works when the Volume of
one chanel is set to 0.
Anyway as the internal microphone actually is a MONO device it

indicator-bluetooth shows wrong state after resume
To manage notifications about this bug go to:
Today I had one resume where the indicator-bluetooth correctly showed
bluetooth ON.
So it does NOT occur in 100% of the cases.
I put the machine to sleep again and woke it up again and the bug was there
again.
I made a screenshot to illustrate the effect.
In sytem settings you can see that

On my machine the situation is still the same.
In the meantime I verified the bug to exist in the live usb of xbuntu and
lubuntu as well.
