ah. ok. on button down nothing happens. if i hold down the button and drag the mouse, the menu appears, and works. on button up, if the menu hadn't already appeared, it appears for a tiny fraction of a second, then disappears. this is a bit different than the non-qt behavior, but, it's fine.
