[Bug 499198] Re: Bluetooth not detected by default with ath9k driver

2010-12-04 Thread lordskid
I have an HP mini 110-3016tu. I am having the same problem.

bluetoothd[1108]: Failed to find Bluetooth netlink family

this is in syslog.1

Bluetooth seems to start initializing but I cannot seem to use my
bluetooth...

System - Preferences - Bluetooth says that there are no Bluetooth
adapters found. I believe it is a coexistence with my atheros 9285

I'm new to this so is there anyone who can give me some pointers.

same here. I have to do Super + 1 to activate firefox again then f11 to
close fullscreen before closing firefox again so that my netbook
launcher will reappear. I don't know if it is the unity thing or
firefox.

Try ctrl-alt-f2 to open a terminal, and do a sudo apt-get install compiz
hope this works for you as it did for me.

Again thanks pedro my Ubuntu Lucid is now working properly. Compiz got
uninstalled somewhere between updates. I just installed it and
everything is okay now.

[Bug 567747] [NEW] My minimize, maximize, close buttons are gone. Must enable visual effects to make them return.

2010-04-21 Thread lordskid
Public bug reported:

Hi, I updated my lucid beta 2 yesterday, and after restarting I noticed
nautilus and firefox windows don't have the close max, and min buttons
(the whole bar on top of the window like in netbook remix.) I also
notice firefox will not maximize using alt-spacebar x. nor will it go to
full screen f11, and that the bottom panel only has one workspace Desk
1.

Anyway I enabled the visual effects and everything went back to normal.
Unfortunately everytime I reboot visual effects becomes turned off, so
I have to always turn it on before doing anything else.

If you need more info I will be glad to provide.

I put I don't know in the package as I am not sure if this is a desklet
problem or the visual effects.

That's true. How sad that fglrx support is so slow. I have been going
back and forth from ati bugzilla and launchpad and I still haven't
receive any positive feed back. It is quite good for me that my laptop
is old such that when I upgrade I would choose something that don't have
ati driver I think that would be the best solution for now.

I tried what you have instructed me to do, but my /var/crash directory is
empty. even if I ls -a, or show hidden files in nautilus. Is it possible
that something in bash would make the terminal issue an exit command?

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch

Re: [Bug 276168] Re: pressing 'e' closes x-terminal-emulator when issued with gksu root

2008-09-30 Thread lordskid
I believe I am using gnome terminal. On Ubuntu Hardy,
System - Preferences - Main Menu
Under system tools I enabled the 'Root Terminal'
Then Under
Applications - System Tools
I click Root Terminal.
Then I issue the command:
'[EMAIL PROTECTED]: /home/me# sudo su'
the prompt changes to:
'[EMAIL PROTECTED]: /home/me# [EMAIL PROTECTED]: /home/me#'
this is where when I press 'e' (actually I wanted to type 'exit') that
the terminal closes by itself.

I am a newbie so if you need some system info please tell me how to
obtain them. Thanks for the quick response although over-all my ubuntu
system is usable so it is really not a big issue. I just want to help in
my own little way.

[Bug 271149] Re: says avialble but will not connect fully, plus my buddy list is empty

2008-09-16 Thread lordskid
Did you check if you are connected to your internet provider? Are you
using wireless or wired connection? Sometimes roaming mode in wireless
gives me headache especially if I connect to a wireless network with
DHCP off and is WEP protected. The Signal bar turns blue but if I right
click that icon and click Connection Information, that's when I find out
that I don't have an IP address.

Meanwhile pidgin buddy list will display a small error at the bottom.
and it will have a reconnect button. So what I do is to first check that
my internet connection is okay, then press reconnect in pidgin and all
will be okay.

I hope this helps.

[Bug 219009] Re: [fglrx] screen flickering when using OpenGL apps with compiz enabled

2008-09-09 Thread lordskid
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 179042 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/179042

I am having a similar problem...

I am using an old acer laptop
Model : Acer Travelmate 3210 (Singapore)
Video : ATI Mobility Radeon X700
Driver: ati proprietary driver

The screen flickers after un-hibernating my computer. or after I press
Ctrl-Alt-Fn let's say to play around the console. Then after I get back
to ctrl-alt-f7 for the x windows the screen flickers.

What I do is to logout then login again. It seems to work after that. But I
want to find a more permanent/stable solution.
By the way I am a noob to linux I just received my free cd last week.

Thanks for any help you can extend to me.
