I first reported this bug from a fresh dell xps laptop with hardy that
had been preinstalled and undated. I don't think this is fine in 8.04.
It never worked for me, and i just recently upgraded to intrepid.
can any one confirm that this still does not work in hardy??

since i have upgraded to intrepid beta, I have not had this problem.
well at least not as severely as it was in hardy. now only occasionally
it takes more then a few seconds to reconnect. i still sometimes see
the networking disabled thing but it ends up reconnecting much faster
them before.

it's a real shame that this was even a bug in the first place! I bought
the dell-ubuntu laptop expecting there to be almost no hardware issues,
and I have had quiet a few. my wife says I like the old laptop
better. nows thats a shame! I wanted to show her how user friendly

useing the nvidia 177 driver. and the above problem where the system

It seems the issue has gotten worse in intrepid. each time i try to
resume from ram i just get a black screen on return. I disabled the
nvidia driver in jockey and that seems to be what fixed the fan
problem. but now I am not sure what driver i am using for the nvidia
card. /etc/X11/xorg.conf
the digital mic option is turned up all the way. but it it still not
sensitive enough. it does 'work'. but I have to yell use it with ekiga.
why is this set to won't fix?!

for me, changing the print shortcut to some thing else and then back to
the print key temporally solved it untill i rebooted the system. after
that the problem returned.
for me after changing the shortcut completely(to shift+print) has solved

I have just upgraded to kubuntu intrepid RC. And when the system starts
knetworkmanager shows the status of disconnected. but if i click on it
and select my wifi network it connects just fine. So the problem is it
_never_ connects automatically when the system boots up.
I tried to use a different wifi card, and I got the same problem with
the other card too.
This problem is also present after a dropped connection(if i go and
unplug the router the plug it back in). and after resuming from ram.

Remove hal ---sudo /etc/init.d/dbus restart --- install hal
but that did not work. I was able to remove hal and I was able to
restart dbus but then, when I tryed to install hal I got the same
problem as above::

selected the second option. i tryed again, but the setting would not

the /var/log/kern.log file was very long and a bit confusing to me
the last 2 snapshots show the panic when booting in to console mode(the
first 2 show upstart freezing when it panics...). Is there any other
information i can provide that might help?

Yes I think it is likely that the battery ran out on suspend, but i
don't understand why apport tells me that there was a problem?? it did
not use to do that in intrepid; this seems like a bug in apport for

I am now using jaunty and still have this problem. the command say
Installed: (none) but i do have it installed and enabled(i think i
installed it from FF's web page not from apt-get ).

yes, I have the same error with the package from the repos.
I removed the ABP extension I had got from firefox's webpage; restarted
firefox; installed the one from the repos;restarted firefox again; and
then had the same problem with the one from the repo.

also note; I think thats the package from firefox's webpage is a
slightly newer version (ABP 1.1) while the repo is 1.0 But that should
not matter here since both versions seem to have this problem.

chess and checkers are not reachable. the page listing the rooms will
crash firefox(cause it to hang).
*This is _not_ a java issue though; since the hang/crash happens before loading
any thing with java

Since the latest updates I no longer have the printer configuration
dialog under KDE's system settings. there simply is no longer any
icon to configure printers.

I reinstalled the system after karmic was released... I always seem to
run to weird problems when I update the alpha's... is that normal? I no
longer have this issue since the fresh install.
