Have tried again with the full version and although this time the
upgrade went smoothly the performance of the system was very poor -
video playback and audio was choppy. I finally did a clean install with
8.10 which seems to be working much better.

Finally got MCC to install and work correctly, used it to add the
repository for MythTV 0.26. Ran update and it installed several for
MythTV, Icon launcher for Myth-setup now works correctly. Only issue now
is that if I use this option to enter the backend setup all the tuner
cards show error
Have steadily added updates to system as well as manually added mythtv
plugins. Re-installed MCC and followed steps here:

Installed cpufreqd and imidetately crashes began. Reset system and even
more crashes happened. Forced to uninstall to return system stability.

Since they I have run both Software Updater and sudo apt-get dist-
upgrade. These updates have been added so far:
/usr/src$
So not sure now if this is an issue with Grub2 or the actual update
apps. Installed synaptic which showed all the latest packages on the
system however the Linux 3.9.0-6 was listed but not actually downloaded
yet. Checked it for install and it downloaded. Rebooted system and now
get:
uname -a

issue decreases greatly when compiz effects are disabled using compiz config
setting manager.
Only way to recover is to control+alt+F3 and give shutdown -r command.

Okay managed to figure this one out. Obviously the lcdproc install
didn't/doesn't detect the actual /dev/lcd# used. /ect/LCDd.conf showed
default settings for imon and imonlcd
# Select the output device to use [default: /dev/lcd0]
Device=/dev/lcd0
After checking /dev/ directory found only lcd2

backend fails to autostart and even when service command is given to

So the Mythtv-backend-setup icon option still hangs and you have to give

However did get the backend to finally run at start up as well as get
the frontend to connect properly. Basically had to treat the install as
if it was totally manual. Purged
installed mcc today after making sure my install of 13.10 was updated.
Issue is still affecting Saucy.

Easy fix run:

Remove one line so you only have following:

Gave up on trying to use this, switched over to indicator-cpufreq
instead as it works well with 13.10:

.28 PPA update removes components on Trusty 14.04

This bug has been around since 16.04 and still occurs with 18.04 when
using nvidia drivers. When update required for the OS the black screen
situation happens after the required reboot. Only way to regain desktop
is to login via ssh terminal and run the commands listed here:
I do have auto login enabled on this machine but after reading the bug
report you mentioned I don't think these are the same at all. In my
situation the display is completely black with no ability to to do any
of this:

Don't see how this is the same issue I am not doing a upgrade just and
update. I have been up and running on 18.04 for several months now and
only see the issue if there is a an update that requires the system to
be reset or sometimes when the system boots with the TV off. I do not
get the GDM

[nvidia] Black screen on loading latest system update

Issue happened again after today's system update.
The problem is causing the Nvidia device to not even been detected:
frontend@frontend:~$ lsmod | grep nvidia

Occurred again today after the kernel update was installed and system
reset. When is this issue going to get fixed!
