[Bug 1277641] Re: German keyboard layout loses tilde dead key
I also lost my deadkeys on German(Switzerland) and French(Switzerland) keyboard layouts after upgrading from 14.04 to 16.04. [Bug 674594] Re: IBus preference dialog only opens after repeated attempts
ibus-setup in the command-line works for me, choosing the option prefeferences in the ibus-indicator does *sometimes* nothing (no window opens). [Bug 668234] Re: acer_wmi is blocking wireless on Ideapad S12
The behavior in comments #16 was confirmed by several reboots. However, afterwards I wanted to reenable wlan by unblacklisting acer-wmi (situation as in comment #12). But even several reboots and shutdowns did not bring wlan back (in Natty with your patched kernel). The phy0: Wireless LAN was always Hard blocked: yes. . Toggling hw-switch did not help. Then I booted into Oneiric (acer-wmi blacklisted) with kernel 3.0.0-13 and there was no wlan again (it almost freaked me out ;-) ). Something was hardblocked all the time. Even an external USB-wlan-card, which helped me out in the past when the acer-wmi was annoying me, did not work anymore. In the end a combination of loading/unloading acer-wmi and toggling the hw-switch did the trick. Since then, wlan works again, even in Natty with your patched kernel I don't know if anything of this is usefull to you, but I though providing some info should not hurt... ;-) Let me know if you need any logs or a rerun of some procedures. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/668234 Title: acer_wmi is blocking wireless on Ideapad S12 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/668234/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I don't know what you wanted to see. It is funny for me to see, that the acer-wmi module is not loaded with none of the kernel images, even if the module is not blacklisted. With Ubuntu Natty it was a must for me to put this module on the blacklist in order to have any wifi connection. If I remember correctly, after the upgrade to Ubuntu oneiric, my system used the b43 module and I had to blacklist the acer-wmi module again. However, on the same laptop, the Oneiric LiveUSB system always used the wl module and gave me wlan out-of-the-box. [Bug 668234] Re: acer_wmi is blocking wireless on Ideapad S12
Sorry, forget my last post. In the past, I used the following command echo 'options acer_wmi wireless=1' | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/acer-wmi.conf to tweak the acer-wmi module. However, this additional configuration file only prevents the acer-wmi module from being loaded according to the error message: FATAL: Error inserting acer_wmi (/lib/modules/2.6.38-8-generic/kernel/drivers/platform/x86/acer-wmi.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg) and in dmesg I have: acer_wmi: Unknown parameter `wireless’ So, I deleted this nonsense configuration file and tried the two kernels again. uname -rv -- 2.6.38-12-generic-pae #51lp836865 SMP [...] acer-wmi is loaded (!), both in Ubuntu Natty and Oneiric -- wlan impossible uname -rv -- 3.0.0-12-generic #20-Ubuntu SMP [...] (Ubuntu oneiric kernel) acer-wmi is loaded too, wlan not working even after unloading acer-wmi. Only blacklisting and rebooting helps My conclusion is, that your kernel does not improve the situation :-( Any hints? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/668234 Title: acer_wmi is blocking wireless on Ideapad S12 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/668234/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Ok, it works for me now puhhh :-) Found the solution in this thread https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=951463#p951463 sudo ln -s /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstisomp4.so /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstqtdemux.so et voilà! [Bug 858213] Re: cannot play video, complains about missing support for Quicktime
I asked the developer of minitube ( http://flavio.tordini.org/forums/topic/quicktime-not-found-in- ubuntu-11-10 ) and he says It’s not QuickTime, it’s any working Phonon backend. Anyway this is a packaging issue. Cannot do anything about it. And indeed, I started from an Ubuntu 11.10 LiveUSB system and there minitube v1.5 works out-of-the-box! [Bug 405294] Re: a2dp skips terribly
Under Ubuntu 10.10 11.04 I could not use my bluetooth headset due to terrible skipping problems on my Lenovo Ideapad S12 (WLAN: Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY (rev 01)). I noticed that if I turned of the wifi card, music over bluetooth seemed to be fine, but that was not an acceptable solution. Now I booted Ubuntu 11.10 with a Live-USB and bluetooth worked like a charm! Even after I installed the wifi drivers with the restricted driver tool (still in Live-USB session). The wifi driver used was wl. Once I upgraded my existing system to 11.10, bluetooth was the same mess as before, however the wifi driver was still b43 and the restricted driver tool had some problems. I unloaded the b43 module, purged all packages related to b43, fired the restricted driver tool up again, and now it was able to install the wl driver. Since then I am enjoying again the beautiful sound of my headset :-) Btw, in my case it was crystal clear that the b43 kernel module was the trouble maker. I listened to bluetooth music (bad skipping), unload b43 (skipping stopped immediately!), load b43 again (skipping starts), and so on... -- bad b43, bad b43 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/405294 Title: a2dp skips terribly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/pulseaudio/+bug/405294/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 231045] [NEW] copying a file in nautilus results in wrong file name
Public bug reported: Placing a copy in Nautilus of a file called file1 (copy) – edited in the same folder results in a file called file1 (another copy) instead of file1 (copy) – edited (copy). Steps to reproduce: 1.Create a file called file1 (or any other name). 2.Copy-paste file1 in the same folder. The copy is automatically labeled “file1 (copy)”. 3.Rename “file1 (copy)” as “file1 (copy) – edited”. 4.Copy-paste “file1 (copy) – edited” in the same folder. The copy is now automatically labeled “file1 (another copy)” instead of “file1 (copy) – edited (copy)”. ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- copying a file in nautilus results in wrong file name https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/231045 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
