[Bug 588858] Re: Add optional support of indicator applet
Currently I still have a problem on trayicon. According to Ubuntu SoundMenu wiki, trayicon should be disabled when soundmenu item registered. And when soundmenu activate, window_close should behavior as hide. However, this cannot be archived by a plugin. I tried to modified the xl.gui.main.controller.trayicon at runtime, but it's very difficult to archive the full functionality. I think I need some help from upstream. [Bug 552578] Re: ubuntu, gmplayer not in mplayer package as reported
@Benjamin Drung, Nope, The bug has nothing to do with command-not-found. it should be in mplayer-gui, which is where it belonged before. A bit of background: From, Anybody know what happened to gmplayer in Maverick? http://askubuntu.com/questions/5041/anybody-know-what-happened-to-gmplayer-in-maverick My long-term media player (for various reasons) has been gmplayer. A simple floating UI that remembered its fullscreen layout and just worked for me. I'm not trying to convert anybody but please respect that I'm not looking for alternatives. It used to live in a package called mplayer-gui. Since upgrading to Maverick, I can't find it anywhere. Apparently an Ubuntu-sent changelog says I should use SMplayer instead but as anybody who has used both will tell you immediately, they're completely different styles of media player. I'm not against progress but I can't see anything but regression here. mplayer-gui has been removed in maverick because it is broken upstream. It doesn't even build with a shared avcodec ATM. Had the same issue, but it appears to be resolved upstream: it builds fine since yesterday. :) answered Oct 3 '10 at 22:48 So, PLEASE, put gmplayer back in Maverick. [Bug 710181] [NEW] No proper default for locale-gen
Public bug reported: Hi, I am having a hard time trying to configure my system locales. In Debian, I just need to update /etc/locale.gen and do locale-gen, and I'm done. However I found such tactics no longer works under Ubuntu. So I did some search, and followed the Locale - Community Ubuntu Documentation https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Locale However, that didn't get me anywhere either:. . . Long story short, the issue really bog down to that Unbuntu doesn't have a proper default for locale-gen. Ref: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/localeconf/+question/130696 locale-gen --purge should do the job. Oh, yep. That works like a charm. In Debian, the purge is by default, which really makes sense -- e.g., when I list 5 locales as my locales, I want that 5, and don't want any legacies get into my way. When I remove locales from the config file, I want them to be removed from the system locales as well. Hope that can be fixed in the future. I've tried many times and I've also tried both Norton Ghost 2003 and Norton Ghost 8.3. Same symptom. Actual command used is, kvm -m 1024 -smp 2 -usbdevice tablet -hda hda -cdrom /path/to /NortonGhost-Version.iso -boot d The same command, using the same hda cdrom, works just fine under Debian. Please investigate Thanks PS. if you don't have a Norton Ghost iso file, you can try Hiren.BootCD.8.6.iso. Works the same. [Bug 625089] Re: [lucid] Can't type in anything, not keyboard problem
Ok, I admit this is my first taste of Ubuntu, and I rely on those howtos floating on the Interent to help me. I thought people won't post something that wouldn't work and claim it is working, and it turns out that I'm wrong. This is what I get to hold those howtos as holly bibles. [Bug 657990] Re: System freeze when i'am not moving the mouse or typing.
I meet the same problem after upgrade to 10.10 i386 desktop edition from 10.04. I have a self-compiled kernel installed which is based on 10.04's generic kernel and use the same .config with 10.04. I boot with it and everything is fine. So I believe it is a problem about the kernel. In fact, at least in 10.04 and 9.10, the Atom CPU is always freezed if no keyboard/mice input for around 5 mins. When be freezing, even the clock is stopped. I 10.10, the freezing happens immediately after the keystoke up. Totally can't afford. [Bug 625089] [NEW] [lucid] Can't type in anything, not keyboard problem
Public bug reported: Not the same as https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-power-manager/+bug/429249 and https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hal/+bug/582201 My case is, keyboard does not work in X in 10.04 live mode frugal installation -- can't type anything. All works, including mouse, just can't type anything into terminal, file manger - edit path, or gedit. Further ctrl+alt+f? and even capslock/NumLock does nothing. This is a plain laptop keyboard, not an USB one. What's most interesting is that, although tying and capslock/NumLock not working properly, **the Fn hot keys are working just fine**. E.g., Fn + backlight on/off control, sound volume control, screen brightness control. All working just fine. Moreover, during shutting down, there is a screen requesting user to press ENTER to remove CD, **by now, keyboard (enter key) works again**. Nothing special in dmesg or anything. This is an amd64 laptop. What else info do you need? Further info on this bug, on this laptop, I have 3 ways to boot Ubuntu lucid, 1. from Ubuntu HD installation. 2. from ISO stored on HD. 3. from frugal installation, this is when the problem occurs. Here is the grub boot menu for case 2 and 3 (so you know what I mean by frugal installation) title === Ubuntu 10.04 ISO kernel /casper/vmlinuz boot=casper iso-scan/filename=/iso/ubuntu-10.04.1-desktop-amd64.iso file=/preseed/ubuntu.seed quiet splash -- initrd /casper/initrd.lz title === Ubuntu 10.04 Live kernel /casper/vmlinuz file=/preseed/ubuntu.seed boot=casper initrd=/casper/initrd.lz ignore_uuid live-media-path=/casper quiet splash -- locale=en_EN console-setup/layoutcode=en initrd /casper/initrd.lz I copy them exactly as-is from my laptop. BTW, the sequence of my test was 2, 3 and 1. I'm not 100% sure, but I do believe that keyboard was working properly even in frugal installation before I did the HD installation. Still, it might be just a coincident. Recap, judging from above fact, I believe it is a software bug. But I can't pin point where it is. Please let me know if you need any further info, or any of my further investigation.
