[Bug 880253] [NEW] using the launcher to search and pressing enter quickly does not launch the first search result

2011-10-23 Thread Joakim Ahnfelt-Rønne
Public bug reported:

How to reproduce: press super, type in 'terminal', press enter; do all
of this before the search results are displayed.

Expected: the first result (ie. Terminal) is executed.

Observed: the enter keypress is ignored.

The problem with this behavior is that it makes you wait for the
gui/search to be ready. Instead of giving the system a command, you have
a conversation with it, which can be distracting from the task you're
currently working on.

** Affects: unity (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 879291] [NEW] pressing down once in launcher/search does not highlight any result (you have to press down twice)

2011-10-21 Thread Joakim Ahnfelt-Rønne
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 11.10 (release 11.10), 64bit desktop

How to reproduce: press super (start), enter terminal, press down.

Expected: highlights the first result.

What happened: puts focus onto something hidden, which does not respond
to enter/left/right.

Workaround: pressing down twice.

Maybe this is a papercut; it's likely quick to fix, and something that
the average user (at least those who use the keyboard to launch things)
encounters multiple times every day.

[Bug 326510] [NEW] Deskbar doesn't close when losing focus

2009-02-07 Thread Ahnfelt
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: deskbar-applet

(Ubuntu 8.10, deskbar version 2.24.1)

Steps to reproduce:
Open the Deskbar (button-style) window, then click on another window.

Expected:
Deskbar (button-style) window closing.

What happened:
The Deskbar window doesn't close, and stays on top of the newly focused window.

When using the button style search window, it would seem natural if it'd
close when it loses focus, just like the Main Menu applet does.
