Re: [Bug 930456] Re: Brother MFC-410CN incorrectly reported as having "no ink left"
Hi, Sorry—I misunderstood your message. It is probably still a problem, but after waiting 6+ years for a resolution to this issue (or even an acknowledgement) I gave up and got rid of my printer altogether. It's disheartening that such a critical issue—one which prevented use of the printer entirely—was ignored without comment for years. [Bug 1265994] [NEW] right-click menu on playlist item causes mouse to be stuck down
Public bug reported: Steps to reproduce: 1. Populate the play queue with multiple items, then open the Play Queue view. 2. Right-click the top entry, release the mouse button, then dismiss the menu that appears by clicking (and releasing) outside the menu. Expected behaviour: the original entry remains highlighted, and moving the mouse over the play queue does not cause this selection to change. Actual behaviour: GMPC seems to think that the mouse is still pressed down, causing other items in the play queue to be selected when the mouse passes over them. [Bug 1265976] [NEW] main window self-minimising
Public bug reported: Steps to reproduce: 1. Open Transmission Remote GUI via the Dash. 2. Wait for main window to open. 3. Switch to another window, e.g. Chrome. 4. Attempt to Alt+Tab back to Transmission Remote GUI, or click its Dash icon. Expected behaviour: the Transmission Remote GUI main window appears and can be used. Actual behaviour: the main window appears briefly, then undergoes minimise animation into the Dash icon. Subsequent attempts to restore the window (both via Alt+Tab and via clicking the Dash icon) result in the same minimising behaviour. Additionally, right-clicking the Dash icon and selecting Quit does not cause Transmission Remote GUI to quit. [Bug 1069272] Re: Ubuntu 12.10 xrdp gets blank screen at login
May or may not be relevant: http://c-nergy.be/blog/?p=2879 8 Solving the “Empty Desktop Problem” This problem was quite easy to solve. After some research on google, I’ve found out that I was not the only one having the issue. The solution was quite simple. In a few words, you have to force the xRDP software to use the ubuntu-2D (or the gnome-fallback) Desktop environment. To force that, you will need to create the .xsession file in your home directory and insert the following text in it gnome-session –session=ubuntu-2d or you can use a command line to perform exactly the same operation [image] This workaround allows you to have a workable desktop. On the other hand, you will be forced to use Ubuntu-2d (this is ok if you have chosen Unity as preferred desktop). But if you have configured gnome-shell as your preferred desktop, you will not be able to use it. I would say not a big deal, you can remotely connect to your system and in we hope that new release will fix this small issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1069272 Title: Ubuntu 12.10 xrdp gets blank screen at login To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xrdp/+bug/1069272/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1016796] [NEW] allow selection of different playlist to be associated with star icon
Public bug reported: As MPD may be used in an environment shared by multiple people, it makes sense for clients to allow favourites to be read from/written to a specific playlist. While it is possible in GMPC to assign the currently playing song to a specific playlist by right-clicking the star icon, left-clicking the star icon always modifies the playlist named Favorites and the star is only illuminated for the next playing song if that song appears in the global Favorites playlist. This behaviour results in GMPC's Favorites functionality being unusable in a shared environment, as multiple GMPC users corrupt each other's favourites. For my GMPC installation I would prefer to nominate, e.g., Alex's Favourites to be the playlist on which the star icon operates. Other GMPC users connecting to the same MPD instance would also nominate their own starred playlist. This would prevent the scenario described above. [Bug 1007341] [NEW] computer fails to fully wake after suspend, requiring full power cycle to resurrect
Public bug reported: If I select Suspend from the Power menu, my computer suspends as expected. When subsequently pressing the Power button on the front of the computer to wake it, the computer's hard disks power up but the monitor (and hence the computer in full) does not. A press of the hardware Reset button on the computer appears to make the computer reset, but the computer does not subsequently progress to the BIOS POST screen--at this time, it hangs/freezes in the same manner as when first being woken from suspension. It is actually necessary to hold down the Power button such that the computer is forced to switch off fully, and then turn it on again. /var/log/pm-suspend.log (attached) makes reference to the suspend being performed, but doesn't appear to report anything else after going into suspension. I don't know what other log files may be relevant, but am more than happy to provide any that are deemed to be. [Bug 1002747] [NEW] HUD appears when pressing Alt+Left or Alt+Right to navigate in Firefox
Public bug reported: In Firefox, Alt+Left and Alt+Right are used to navigate backwards and forwards in the current tab's page history respectively. If these key combinations are completed quickly enough, the HUD erroneously appears immediately afterwards. Quickly is the key here; if the keystroke is completed at a slower rate (e.g. slower than the time between a user holding down Alt and the current window's menu bar appearing), the HUD does not appear. This problem does not seem to occur with all Firefox Alt+ keyboard shortcuts. For instance, I can hit Alt+1, Alt+2 etc. to switch between tabs as quickly as I like and the HUD does not appear in these cases. [Bug 930456] [NEW] Brother MFC-410CN incorrectly reported as having no ink left
Public bug reported: I am now unable to print any documents to a Brother MFC-410CN printer, attached via the network. This problem presumably surfaced during a past software upgrade, but I don't know precisely when. Opening the system-config-printer-gnome tool, the printer is shown with a red exclamation symbol on its icon. The attached screen shot shows the ink levels as reported by (presumably) CUPS. If I attempt to print a document, the document enters and exits the printer queue and no job errors are reported, but the document doesn't print. The printer itself reports all four ink tanks as close to full, and it is possible to print test pages from the printer. These test pages prove the presence of ink in all four tanks. [Bug 904662] [NEW] CD/DVD Creator fails to eject disc after writing, or detect reinsertion after manual eject
Public bug reported: This problem is common to both Nautilus and Brasero, so maybe this bug belongs to some library rather than to Brasero. When I attempt to burn a data disc, the write appears to succeed as Success subsequently shows up underneath the status bar of the CD/DVD Creator window. A second or two after this however, the status changes to writing image checksum. After more time passes, this box comes up: Please eject the disc from HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20L manually. The disc could not be ejected though it needs to be removed for the current operation to continue. [Cancel] Manually ejecting and then reinserting the disc does not make this box go away. The only way for the process to continue is to press Cancel, after which the CD is reported as successfully burned. Public bug reported: At the time of creating this bug report via ubuntu-bug indicator- session, selecting Hibernate from the session menu was only locking the screen instead of actually hibernating the machine. [Bug 884672] [NEW] boot splash screen displays at incorrect resolution
Public bug reported: My LCD monitor's native resolution is 1920x1080, but the Ubuntu boot splash is shown at 1280x1024. As a result, it is horizontally stretched. Bug #563878 looks like it might be relevant, but it appears to document that a fix has been released. This fix does not seem to address the problem for my specific configuration. [Bug 881188] [NEW] installation of lmms prevents installation of wine1.3
Public bug reported: As shown by the terminal transcript below, LMMS has a hard-coded dependency on wine1.2. As wine1.3 conflicts with wine1.2, installation of wine1.3 alongside LMMS is not possible. This bug is similar to bug #696189, which was resolved by changing a dependency on a specific Wine component to Wine itself--but a specific version of Wine. With much oblivion, I wonder why Wine packages even have version numbers in their name at all. # apt-get upgrade ... The following packages have been kept back: wine 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 1 not upgraded. # apt-get -s install wine ... The following packages will be REMOVED: lmms wine1.2 ... # apt-get install lmms wine ... lmms is already the newest version. Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. The following information may help to resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: wine : Depends: wine1.3 but it is not going to be installed E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages. [Bug 869593] [NEW] launcher intermittently fails to appear when a window is maximised and mouse strikes left edge of screen
Public bug reported: I just booted up, started a Terminal and maximised it. I was unable to display the launcher by pushing the mouse cursor against the left edge of the screen, and had to hit the Super key to get it visible. Opening another maximised window (Firefox) seemed to correct this, even when Alt+Tabbing back to the Terminal window. This is not an isolated incident; it has been happening for at least a couple days with various maximised windows. I tend to notice it most when using a Terminal though because the only reason I'd be using the mouse is to switch tabs or try to launch something else. [Bug 861093] [NEW] after minimising a window, it still has keyboard focus and its title and menu bar remain on the screen
Public bug reported: Please refer to the attached screen shots. Screen shot 1 shows a maximised Firefox window prior to minimising. Screen shot 2 shows a maximised text editor, previously behind Firefox before it was minimised by means of the clickable Minimise button. It also shows a Firefox menu, despite the text editor appearing to have focus. Note that the minimised Firefox window still continues to receive keyboard events. Perhaps also of interest: clicking the Firefox launcher item does not restore the window. It is necessary to Alt+Tab a couple of times instead.
