2018-11-03 Thread Alex S
And yet another X1 Carbon 5th gen running 4.18.0-10-generic and Ubuntu
18.10 issue present. One of #16, #43 and #63 helps to mitigate the
problem. Thanks a lot to all the contributors!

[Bug 982706] Re: non-grey panel tray icon disappear

2012-06-16 Thread Alex S.
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 932769 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/932769

As workaround just kill your compiz with HUP:
| user@host:~$ ps axu |grep compiz
| user 3613 1.6 1.2 1405592 101044 ? Rl Jun12 125:27 compiz
| user 3707 0.0 0.0 4392 608 ?Ss Jun12 0:00 /bin/sh -c
/usr/bin/compiz-decorator
| user@host:~$
| user@host:~$ kill -1 3613

[Bug 932769] Re: tray area disappears after alt+tab in fullscreen window

2012-06-16 Thread Alex S.
Another workaround (i've posted it too for #982706) is killing compiz with -1:
  | user@host:~$ ps axu |grep compiz
  | user 3613 1.6 1.2 1405592 101044 ? Rl Jun12 125:27 compiz
  | user 3707 0.0 0.0 4392 608 ? Ss Jun12 0:00 /bin/sh -c
/usr/bin/compiz-decorator
  | user@host:~$
  | user@host:~$ kill -1 3613

It keeps session and revert tray with all icons.

[Bug 520546] Re: Alt-f2 switches to virtual terminal 2

2010-05-04 Thread Alex S Kurilo
Still present in release.
After restarting xserver described bug disappears. (gdm restart, logout/login
etc).
Also, server flags like DontVTSwitch don't make any changes (again) until
xserver is restarted.
Is there a way to fix it? It is really pissing out :(

[Bug 183517] Re: Hardy Heron Alpha unable to boot in Virtual PC 2007

2008-05-10 Thread Alex S
Dell OptiPlex 755, Quad Core Q6600, 2.4GHz, 4Gb
Windows XP Pro SP2, fully updated
ATI Radeon HD 2400
Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 6.0.156.0

First time install - not an upgrade - can't run live from CD.

Same problem - An unrecoverable processor error has occurred, etc. -
Attempting install from ubunto-8.04-desktop-i386.iso, downloaded today
(5/10/08). Will not run Check CD either. Attempted options noted
before - vga=771 - noapic nolapic - nothing works.

This is reproducible. I am continuing testing and will advise if I find
anything else.

I previously attempted 7.10 install, but that did not work due to the VPC PS/2
emulation issue.
I thought my problem was a SATA/AHCI issue, but I just spent the afternoon
playing with BIOS Legacy Mode to no avail.

Any ideas? Thanks.

[Bug 73223] Hebrew text is not displayed correctly (Edgy Eft)

2006-11-25 Thread Alex S
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Way to reproduce:
1. Open OpenOffice.org word processor.
2. Make sure CTL is enabled and Hebrew is the CTL language:
- In the Tools menu, choose Options. In the options window choose
Language Settings -- Languages on the left panel.
- Make sure that Enabled for complex text layouts is marked.
- Make sure that under Default languages for documents the CTL
language is hebrew.
- Click OK to close the options window.
3. Switch to CTL text using right CTRL+Shift keys.
4. Switch to the Hebrew text layout in GNOME (make sure it is configured in
System--Preferences--Keyboard).
5. Type the text:
שלום לכם ילדים
היום אנחנו ננסה לעשות משהו ממש מגניב.

The resulting text is displayed such that one word overlaps other words.
I tried selecting the text and choosing different fonts, but it doesn't help.
It is still not displayed correctly and words still overlap other words.

I have a screen shot, but I don't see any option to attach it to this
bug report.
