This happened because guest used lots of memory on NUMA machine. The KSM
might merge similar memory pages of different VMs, sitting on different
NUMA memory regions, causing the affected processes to crawl.
Disabled KSM merge_across_nodes:

related. GRUB2 is complex piece of sotfware that keeps developing. I
don't quite understand how they managed to put ext2 mounting and
kernel+initrd loading into mere 31744 bytes back then. You aren't
complaining you can't install
@Javier: Take a bigger drive, format it with first partition starting at
sector 2048 and transfer partitions content. Then you will have enough
space to fit GRUB bootloader into.

I confirm findings of freefd - if I disable network-manager and start
dhclient manually, the wired network works properly.
However something is still fishy: if I do iwconfig, it does not show

On Lenovo g570 ubuntu 12.10 worked perfectly.
After upgrade to 13.04 X-Windows started locking up (only the mouse
cursor was reacting to mouse movements, but nothing else). The lockup

visible by a different user on the same machine. Worse yet - they are
not rebuilt if any of the thumbnails is missing.

Kernel 3.7.0-030700rc5-generic has the same problem.
In both kernels 3.5.0 and 3.7.0 I was able to make X11 to use correct
video mode parameters using following directives in /etc/X11/xorg.conf
file:

During my experiments with kernel 3.2.0, the xorg also crashed. I had to
disable X11 acceleration for 3.2.0 kernel to work.
Same story with kernel 3.5.0. This means that I erred on comment #2 where I
claimed that simple reversal to 3.2.0 fixed the problem. Apparently I forgot to
mention that
After reverting kernel from 3.5.0 to 3.2.0-32-generic, the bug went
away.

Looks like the bug is related to FB modesetting done by linux-
image-3.5.0-18-generic kernel. I rebooted into 3.2.0-30-generic and the
resolution became correct.
Reassign the bug the the linux-image kernel package please.

Under ubuntu 12.04, the 1680x1050 mode worked perfectly on my Asus VW222s LCD
screen.
VGA card: Intel Corporation 82G33/G31 Express Integrated Graphics Controller
(rev 10)
After upgrade to 12.10, the resolution appears chopped on the right, I
can't see about 300 pixels.
