[Bug 782256] [NEW] libdsocksd0_1.1.19 won't install on natty

2011-05-13 Thread Armen Kaleshian
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libdsocksd0

Attempted to install libdsocksd0 via synaptic, and apt, which failed due to a
broken dependency.
Attempted to install via dpkg, and was met with the following:
Preparing to replace libdsocksd0 1.1.19.dfsg-3ubuntu4 (using
libdsocksd0_1.1.19.dfsg-3ubuntu4_amd64.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement libdsocksd0 ...
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of libdsocksd0:
 libdsocksd0 depends on libc6 ( 2.13); however:
Version of libc6 on system is 2.13-0ubuntu13.
dpkg: error processing libdsocksd0 (--install):
 dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
Errors were encountered while processing:
 libdsocksd0

After further research, it appears that libdsocksd0 in natty requires libc6 to
be less than version 2.13
In natty, libc6 is at 2.13 as shown below:
:~/Desktop$ sudo dpkg -s libc6
Package: libc6

[Bug 767085] Re: Package dante-client is broken on natty beta

2011-05-13 Thread Armen Kaleshian
Based on my research, this appears to be simply a version name mismatch in
libdsocksd0.
The package is looking for 2.13 of libc6, but the package name for libc6 has
'-0ubuntu13' added as a suffix as evident from the output of dpkg below:

 libdsocksd0 depends on libc6 ( 2.13); however:
Version of libc6 on system is 2.13-0ubuntu13.

Can the maintainer of the library simply update the version dependency
field from 2.13 to 2.13-0ubuntu13?
