Yes.. here it is

Attached the output for those commands and syslog file.

Meanwhile I tried to run this command "sudo apt install ruby-bundler" and I
got the same error.
Also attached the console output.

Please let me know what's the issue with my system.
Thanks :)

[Bug 1718908] Re: virtualbox-dkms 5.0.40-dfsg-0ubuntu1.16.04.1: virtualbox kernel module failed to build

2017-11-09 Thread Ashok
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1521734 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1521734

Hi Fabiano Ferroanto,
In my case, I had old version of gcc ( 4.2, if I am correct). Compiling new
kernel drivers requires latest(upgraded) version of gcc, so upgraded gcc to
4.9.x. After that reinstalled virtualbox-dkms, and Virtual box is back to
Normal.

Hope this helps. :)

[Bug 1156674] Re: QtCreator: ptrace: Operation not permitted. in Debug mode

2014-03-25 Thread omkar ashok kulkarni
First of all it's not bug. It's for security purposes.

Some things about PTRACE:
1)The PTRACE system is used for debugging.
2)With it, a single user process can attach to any other dumpable process
owned by the same user. A PTRACE scope of 0 is the more permissive mode. A
scope of 1 limits PTRACE only to direct child processes.

This is the stuff from /etc/sysctl.d/10-ptrace.conf file.

So for successful debugging with Qt Creator you have two options:
Option 1:
1. Open Qt Creator with superuser privileges. For this open terminal type
command sudo -s , then enter password.
2.Then enter command qtcreator.

Option 2:
1.Open terminal type sudo -s, then enter password.
2.Then go to directory /proc/sys/kernel/yama/ by using cd command.
3.In this directory open ptrace_scope file by using gedit ptrace_scope
command. (You can use any editor to edit file I've used here gedit).
4.In this file default value is 1 , so change this value to 0.
5.Save this file and then close it.

Now you can surely do debugging in Qt Creator.

That's it.

[Bug 1263774] [NEW] No new mail tooltip should also list sources

2013-12-23 Thread Ashok Vadekar
Public bug reported:

When the mouse hovers over the plugin icon and new mail is present, then
tooltip is populated with a total new-message count and a breakdown of
all the counts from the sources that contribute to that count. But when
the new message-count is zero, it says No new mail without indicating
what sources have no new mail. This is particularly obvious when there
is only one source for each of multiple instances of the plugin. You
have to know the order of the icons to remember what account it is that
has no new mail.

I suggest that when no new mail is being reported, it should also list
the sources that it is claiming have no new mail.

[Bug 943195] Re: xpdf.real crashed with SIGSEGV in GooHash::hash()

2012-09-08 Thread Ashok Popat
Compiling from xpdf-3.03 source as Ian suggests (comment #36) works for
me also. Thanks! :-)

I had to cd into the xpdf subdirectory of xpdf-3.03 when applying the
patch.

For my 32-bit machine I changed the ./configure line to:

./configure --with-freetype2-library=/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/ --with-
freetype2-includes=/usr/include/freetype2

[Bug 585651] Re: [LUCID] Cannot install on eDP laptops such as HP Elitebook 2540p or 8440p

2012-01-04 Thread Ashok Das
Hi,
I have HP 2540p which doesnot have any CD ROM drive. I am not able to boot
Ubuntu from USB. Version that I tried are 9.10, 10.04, 11.10, Linux Mint 12
DVD. Each have different problem but finaly they failed to boot.

Ubuntu 9.10: Booted successfully but freezes completely if I click
anything in the desktop. Hard power reset is then only option.

Ubuntu 10.04: On first boot the os booted but the Display was flickering
badly. In the second boot the system stands on the ubuntu boot screen
(with dots moving) and does not go any further. At the same display is
flickering.

Ubuntu 11.10: Booted on the first boot. In the second boot when the boot
screen with moving dots appear there is one line saying that:

Waiting for network configuration...

A while later, the following displayed:

Unattended-upgrade in progress during shutdown, sleeping for 5s

After a long while, the screen becomes black and long list of error
appears, and finally ubuntu provides a prompt like:

ubuntu$ubuntu

I have used Sandisk, Kingston, Transcend pen drives all with 8GB space.
All failed. I used Universal USB Installer from pendrivelinux.com. I
have checked the images with MD5, but the images were ok. These problem
does not appear with HP 6910P. Sure that something to be tweaked in the
OS for this particular laptop, but what?

[Bug 669898] [NEW] network-manager applet fails to detect usb devices after update to Maverick

2010-11-02 Thread Ashok KP
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

Currently using Ubuntu 10.10 which was upgraded from 10.04 online.

Package having problem : network-manager
0.8.1+git.20100810t184654.ab580f4-0ubuntu2

Description:
When I was using Lucid, network manager applet automatically detected any usb
modem devices and made it ready for connection. After upgrade to Maverick,
sometimes the devices are not at all detected. Some times after a restart, when
I plug the usb and wait for around five minutes, it gets detected. There are no
problems in connecting.

+
+ I tried using many devices. One Nokia E51, one Huawei EC1262 modem etc. All
resulted the same.

network-manager never detects the device even after I take it back and plug it
again.
+ And, when I turn computer on without the device and then I connect the
device, then it takes somewhat 2 minutes to detect it.
+ But wireless networks are detected instantly under all conditions.

[Bug 304889] Re: Does not use system proxy settings

2010-09-08 Thread Ashok
Yahoo is working through GNOME proxy from v2.31.91.1. Using Ubuntu
Maverick Beta. But no application level proxy preferences yet. In my
office, GTalk works without proxy and Yahoo works only through proxy.
Pidgin gives me this flexibility where as Empathy doesn't.

Re: [Bug 476195] Re: Lost the mic input after upgrade from 9.04 to 9.10. Input volume is disable and sound input device list is empty

2010-03-27 Thread Ashok
Brad,
Thx for getting back (after a long time). After hours of debugging
one day, i found that the device chosen for mic was different and thats why
it was not working. So Ubuntu upgrade seems to have changed the mic device.

 Hi Ashok,

Please, if you are still having issues, test with the latest development
release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from
 http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a
 Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically
gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

 apport-collect -p alsa-base 476195

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the
 issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds .

Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-
upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil
icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and
 deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text.

Please let us know your results.

[Bug 323135] Re: package antlr 2.7.7-6ubuntu4 [modified: /var/lib/dpkg/info/antlr.list] failed to install/upgrade: unable to open files list file for package `antlr': Input/output error

2009-10-01 Thread ashok
The package install perfectly on my Ubuntu 8.10 system. Unable to
reproduce the bug. Need more information on this to resolve. I would
suggest u to remove the older version of Antlr and try installing
antlr_2.7.7-6ubuntu4_all.deb.
