I tested and indeed, the smbc_urlencode symbol defined in the header is not
found in the libsmbclient.a file on intrepid but is found in hardy
(3.0.28a-1ubuntu4).
I am trying to figure out is this is due to the sources or to a wrong build.

[Bug 6022] smbc_urlencode and smbc_urldecode were not exported
- Since the revamp of libsmbclient, there has still been an external
declaration for smbc_urlencode and smbc_urldecode in libsmbclient.h, yet
those functions were renamed and made

debuild doesn't take *.a file anymore in the sources
Hi,
I am not home for the moment so I can't provide a build.log right now
but I can give you a link to the sources I wanted to pack on intrepid.
https://edge.launchpad.net/~team-xbmc-svn/+archive
* xbmc_8.10final1svn17113-hardy1.diff.gz (6.6 KiB)
* xbmc_8.10final1svn17113-hardy1.dsc
Oki,
Here is an example I have made. On intrepid, when running debuild -S
-sa, the orig file doesn't contain the .a files.

Binary package hint: devscripts
Hi,
I noticed on intrepid that debuild doesn't take the .a files in the sources
anymore. Thus I am not able to build my package which has some binaries inside
the sources.
The problem is not happening when using hardy. I was obliged to
Looking at the changelog in
http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/changelogs/pool/main/d/dpkg/dpkg_1.14.20ubuntu6/changelog
, I believe it version 1.14.17 that broke debuild.
Not including some binaries in the sources is IMO a good choice, but we should
at least have a way to tell dpkg-source to
