[Bug 1678184] Re: APST quirk needed for Samsung 512GB NVMe drive

2017-10-28 Thread Bashar
Same problem here on a Lenovo ideapad Y700 and Ubuntu 16.04
/dev/nvme0n1SAMSUNG MZVLW512HMJP-000L2

I disabled APST by adding nvme_core.default_ps_max_latency_us=0 to the
kernel parameters in /etc/default/grub and works ok, no blocking since
then.

This solution, editing the alsa-base.conf file, worked for me. I'm using
Xubuntu 16.04. Thank you.

[Bug 1606078] [NEW] No sound with Ubuntu 16.04

2016-07-24 Thread Bashar
Public bug reported:

After a fresh install of Ubuntu 16.04.1 on an LG S1 Express Dual laptop
there was no sound from the speakers unless external speakers where
hooked to the headphones socket. This applies to the Ubuntu Mate,
Xubuntu and Lubuntu variants. This laptop was working fine for all
previous releases up to 14.04.

Re: [Bug 1338555] Re: Keyboard completely unresponsive

2015-03-04 Thread Bashar
OK. I started all over on this same laptop with a fresh install of 14.04.2
which I also updated. Then from the mainline kernel list I downloaded the
three relevant files inside v3.13-trusty. After reboot the keyboard wasn't
responding. Then back to v4.0-rc2-vivid/ on which the keyboard was fine.
Going halfway between the two back and forth, the 'last bad commit' as you
called it was v3.17-rc5-utopic/ and right above it in the list
v3.17-rc6-utopic/ which was the first good one where my keyboard functioned
properly. Just to confirm my results I tested v3.17-rc4-utopic/ where the
keyboard also didn't respond. Moreover v3.17-rc4-utopic/ right above the
first good commit was checked and the keyboard was fine.
There are other details in the wiki about using github but I'm afraid they
weren't very clear to me.

Hope that was helpful.

into it the keyboard worked fine. Maybe because I already edited the

[Bug 1338555] Re: Keyboard completely unresponsive

2014-07-19 Thread Bashar
I found a solution at this link
http://askubuntu.com/questions/276493/keyboard-not-working-on-lg-laptop
I found a working solution to the problem.

You need to edit the file /etc/default/grub

$ sudo gedit /etc/default/grub

Go to the line GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=quiet splash and edit it
to:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=quiet splash i8042.nopnp=1
i8042.dumbkbd=1

Update grub

$ sudo update-grub

Reboot your computer.

The keyboard is now normally working.

I fixed it this way on both 12.04 and 14.04 and i think this also the
correct fix

chmod a+x /etc/X11/Xsession.d/90gpg-agent

Check ~/.gnupg/gpg.conf
If not create it and add on one line:
use-agent

Reboot
chk if gpg-agent started
chk if $GPG_AGENT_INFO has something in it
$echo $GPG_AGENT_INFO
/tmp/gpg-nTe51L/S.gpg-agent:2016:1

fire Kleopatra and shoud work

[Bug 959850] [NEW] libreoffice spreadsheet template crashes after pressing the 'preview' button

2012-03-19 Thread Bashar
Public bug reported:

To reproduce the bug:

1- Create a LibreOffice spreadsheet template (and save it and close it)
2- Open the template (and select any cell)
3- Press the 'preview' button in the Standard Toolbar. After about 1 or 2

[Bug 907124] [NEW] 12.04 alpha1 update manager does not update

2011-12-20 Thread Bashar
Public bug reported:

I'm using a fresh install of 12.04 alpha1 on my LG laptop (multi-boot).
The update manager starts normally; it appears introducing the
availability of new updates. It can also check for them. However
clicking the 'Install Updates' buttons yeilds nothing. The cursor just
keeps revolving endlessly. I use the terminal to do a [sudo apt-get
update/upgrade] but there always seems to be other updates in the
graphical 'update-manager' which I can't get.

Just for the record, I just repeated the installation again and this
time it worked. The only difference is that on the first time I
selected 'Try Ubuntu' then I started the harddisk installation while on
the second I chose to install on the harddisk right from the beginning.

[Bug 641318] [NEW] mnemosyne responce slows down when cards have audio files

2010-09-17 Thread Bashar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mnemosyne

I'm using Mnemosyne on Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS which I downloaded from the Software
Center. As indicated on the author's website I divided my flashcards into
categories according to subject. All the categories except one are text and
they work fine. The last one is a language word pronunciation category where
each of the cards has an embedded link to a .wav file which are all gathered
under .mnemosyne/sounds, in total 83 files. When this category is being run
there is a delay of about 1 or 2 seconds between pressing the grade button and
the appearance of the following card. This delay doesn't happen in the other
text categories where the transition to the next card is almost simultaneous
with the pressing of the grade button for the one before it.
Initially I thought that there's a problem with the .wav format so I converted
all the files to .ogg but got the exact same issue.

[Bug 44082] Re: GNOME Panel icons (on right side) move apparently randomly on session start in some situations

I started facing this issue yesterday. I'm using a fully updated Lucid. Since I

reboot, maybe once every 4 or 5 restarts.
Since yesterday I started experiencing the shuffled icon prob [Screenshot3]. I
put them back into order but they get shuffled on restart.

[Bug 391697] Re: Columns of desktop icons not evenly spaced

2010-08-04 Thread Bashar
Thank you for your patience Fabio. What I have been trying to say in my last
comment is that I am clicking on the 'Send Report' button, as in the last
screenshot, but for some reason the report is not getting attached to this bug.
The only thing that happens is those new entries with [description: updated]
get added to the thread.
Seems this apport command is not working, is there another way to send you the
report?

The first command returns the following:

While the second command opens up the window shown in the attached screenshot.
I clicked on the 'send report' button (I did that last time too) and then the
bash prompt returned.

[Bug 391697] Re: Columns of desktop icons not evenly spaced

2010-08-01 Thread Bashar
Yes. I repeated the process by throwing in a bunch of files in the
Desktop (Lucid), changed to 'Default zoom level' to %66 and got a
similar result. As you can see from the attached screenshot, the
distance between column 5 and 6 is larger than the rest.

[Bug 539954] [NEW] Problem switching back from virtual terminal

2010-03-16 Thread Bashar
Public bug reported:

I'm using an LG (S1 Express Dual) laptop. Whenever I switch to one of
the 6 virtual terminals (ctrl+Alt+[F1-F6]) and switch back to the GuI
(Alt+F7) I get the screen back for around a second and then the system
sleeps (as if hybernating). It resumes after I press the power-on button
of the laptop. I don't face this issue with my PC, (also 9.10).

i've installed side/by/side v3 installation and created newer profile
and pointed it to the old profile folder by editing profiles.ini and
worked

[Bug 502879] [NEW] mouse-scrolling don't reach the end of file

2010-01-04 Thread Bashar
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdesdk

When I have opened a file and try to scroll down with the mouse,
scrolling sometimes stopped about ten lines before the end. So the last
line can not be seen using only the mouse.

When I move down with the keyboard, no problem at all.
After going to the end with the keyboard, mouse-scrolling works well.

The file where the bug happened was C++ code (header or source code) and
was about 100 lines long (not the same length for all). But some other
C++ file works well.

2009-12-14 Thread Bashar
Yes it is reproducible, it happens every time I use empathy.
The status icon would normally look like screenshot-1. After I start empathy it
changes to screenshot-2 and it stays like that as long as empathy is activated.
After I quit [ChatQuit from the Contacts list window] the icon changes to
screenshot-3 when it should ideally go back to what it looked like in
screenshot-1

[Bug 420560] [NEW] Mouse buttons and touchpad buttons do not function properly on a Dell inspiron 6000 Jaunty (9.04) installation

2009-08-28 Thread Bashar
Public bug reported:

After installing 9.04 on a Dell inspiron 6000 the mouse buttons do not
function. I repeated the installation about three times with the same
result. During Live Cd session the buttons are normal even during the
first few minutes of operating a hard disk installation but then the
mouse can't be used to click which renders the whole installation
unusable. The touchpad buttons don't function at all either. I've
installed 8.10 and up to now, without the full updates, it's working
fine. If it's of any benefit I could repeat the whole 9.04 installation
procedure to supply the developers with more info. Thanks.

[Bug 394598] Re: Quickbuild tool not found

2009-07-06 Thread Bashar
I tried to reload Default tools but it didn't solve the problem.

Meanwhile, I found that compilation works in case of a new file. It is
only when I work with a previous kile project done before that
compilation failed. I tried to selected the project option, complation
was already set on global option, but I force it again and then it
works.

so now problem is solved, but I think it is still a bug in the kile
application that option has to be reenabled to work !
