[Bug 1285444] Re: Login Successful, Desktop Never Loads

2015-03-04 Thread Bert van der Horst
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1228567 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1228567

Had the same.
Guest user (or new user) could log in successfully, so had to do with something
inside the users home dir.
Only renamed ~/.config/dconf/user file, after which the login worked again.
(but user configuration was back to defaults)

[Bug 1000006] Re: Add GUI field for Application Version

2012-05-24 Thread Bert van der Horst
My colleage at Oracle already has this feature seen in his Debian system.
My Ubuntu 12.04 unfortunatly has no option for this, making the Network Manager
for VPNC gui not usable for my work.
Hope that the known solution will be implemented in the next Ubuntu release
though...

[Bug 300628] Re: FFe [PATCH] please add fields for hybrid authentication

supporting Application Version in the GUI would be appreciated.
Still not in Ubuntu 11.10 available. Is it going to be in 12.04 release?

[Bug 561802] Re: [i915] blank screen on Latitude E6410 (NOT E6510)

2010-11-19 Thread Bert van der Horst
Found a strange solution, works for me now a couple of days
After desperate attempts I left my laptop on for a couple of hours. The battery
ran out of power.
After connecting it to the main power supply, the screen started up normal!

Later, after some startup changes, the problem was back.
But after temporary removing my battery (complete off power) the screen starts
up normal, in correct resolution.
Finally I can use this laptop with Ubuntu 10.10, and I think I can reproduce
the solution when I need it in times of trouble.

I did not change any startup settings for a couple of days now, and
still it starts up normal.

Hope this helps other.

[Bug 561802] Re: [i915] blank screen on Latitude E6410 (NOT E6510)

2010-11-08 Thread Bert van der Horst
Same hardware here: E6410 with intel graphics. Software Ubuntu 10.10 default
installation
Tried solution 168 provided by Don Thompson (hardware dongle: connect pin 9 to
12)
Unfortunately, it did not work in any way for me.
What worked is connecting an external monitor.
And we tried connecting through ssh remotely and fired xrandr commands with
several parameters, and randomly the laptop screen fired up, after which it
could be used normally.
Tried to figure out some golden works-always sequences/procedures with
xrandr, but did not succeed.
Seems to be very random to work with my laptop screen. Makes my Ubuntu 10.10
installation not very useful
