[Bug 1937296] Re: Kernel Hang During "Loading initial ramdisk..."
5.11.0-7614-generic was updated last week, and no longer boots. 5.13.0-7614-generic had never booted. 5.8.0-43-generic boots, but comes up without audio devices or network devices (neither wired nor wireless). This is particularly weird since the Ubuntu Live environment I'm writing this update from is using 5.8.0-43, and has both audio and networking working fine. 5.4.0-84-generic boots, but comes up without audio devices or network devices. [Bug 1914827] [NEW] do-release-upgrade failing with "unresolvable problem caclulating the upgrade"
Public bug reported: I've uploaded the logs. Based on the printout "Could not calculate the upgrade An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade. If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the command 'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' in a terminal. If you want to investigate this yourself the log files in '/var/log/dist-upgrade' will contain details about the upgrade. Specifically, look at 'main.log' and 'apt.log'." I am filing this. Note that the message seems to expect to be able to list some reasons for the failure but doesn't have any. In an earlier run, it asked me to run ppa-purge, after which the message change to give no suggested causes. (I do suspect that I missed something at that step since there are 206 broken packages in the apt.log file still. Maybe I accidentally removed some ppas rather than doing ppa-purge? I am unable to tell from the apt.log file which if any of the Broken packages is blocking the upgrade.) In main.log, it just says "ERROR Dist-upgrade failed: 'E:Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages.'" I checked, and there are no held packages. Really struggling to find a lead to resolve this. I am still having problems. Running nvidia-prime 0.8.8. I upgraded from 17.10 and have four monitors connected to a Dell Precision 7510 with a Quadro M1000M. In xorg, I get one of the four monitors. In wayland I get the other 3! I've attached my xorg.0.log I unfortunately can't stick around to help troubleshoot because this is my production work machine and I thought I'd take my lunch break to upgrade to 18.04. whoops. Now I'm going to have to wipe and revert to 17.10... :/ ** Attachment added: "Xorg.0.log" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-prime/+bug/1764005/+attachment/5140453/+files/Xorg.0.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1764005 Title: Black-screen on boot with nvidia 390 for Budgie, MATE, Xubuntu, Kubuntu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-prime/+bug/1764005/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1769152] [NEW] flatpak missing ostree dependency
Public bug reported: I was attempting to install MonoDevelop per the instructions on MonoDevelop's web site. It says to install flatpak (which I did, via apt) and then issue this command: flatpak install --user --from https://download.mono-project.com/repo/monodevelop.flatpakref I did that as well. Flatpak started downloading things but eventually errored out with this error message: error: While pulling app/com.xamarin.MonoDevelop/x86_64/stable from remote com.xamarin.MonoDevelop-origin: Socket I/O timed out I tried this 5 times, each time with the same result. After searching around on the internet, I saw a forum thread where someone suggested I check my ostree version: $ ostree --version Command 'ostree' not found, but can be installed with: sudo apt install ostree I then installed ostree, re-ran the flatpak install and it installed. I suggest ostree be added as a dependency to flatpak. Re: [Bug 1452504] Re: The installer said that there was a problem with the hard drive that it may be because it was old and neads to be replaced
Thank you for replying but I have found a way to get the drive to work all I did was make a couple of partitions and yes the drive probably needs to be replaced because it is an old drive but it is also a old pc so I don't think I would even bother buying a new drive seeing as it was just sitting doing nothing I tried to resurrect it give it some use. But thank you very much for replying I didn't expect that I would even get a reply. [Bug 1176258] [NEW] Gnome with Xmonad fails to start gnome
Public bug reported: After installing xmonad in 13.04 the "Gnome with Xmonad" login option fails to start any of the Gnome interface. [Bug 1176252] [NEW] Brightness Hotkeys do not change brightness on Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon
Public bug reported: The brightness keys (FN+F8 or F9) cause the transparent brightness icon to appear in the top left of the screen and the indicator moves up or down, but only one notch. The brightness can be adjusted from the slider accessed through Settings. The same behaviour occurs from the default install of 13.04, and remains identical after upgrading the kernel to 3.9.0 ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1176252 Title: Brightness Hotkeys do not change brightness on Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1176252/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1100445] [NEW] wireless network name in network settings drop down list should be selectable from anywhere along the length of the name not just at the end
Public bug reported: When selecting a wireless network name in the network settings app (System Settings -> Network), under Network Name you can see the name of the currently associated network, with the ability to cause the drop down list to expand by selecting the down arrow at the far right hand edge of the box. I shouldn't have to navigate to that far right edge to select the small that is the down arrow in order to bring up the list, I should be able to select anywhere along the length of the box containing the Network Name. When hovering over the network name, the mouse pointer takes on a text entry style, yet this is not a text entry box; selecting the network name does nothing. [Bug 1066638] [NEW] fx update seems broken in beancounter

This is the case not matter what the time period. ubcfx gives me the following url: bkelly@x1 ~ $ beancounter fxbackpopulate --ubcfx --prevdate '50 days ago' IAU $VAR1 = { 'verbose' => '1', 'equityupdate' => 1, 'fxupdate' => '1', 'lastbizday' => '20121014', 'dbname' => 'portfolio.sqlite', 'currency' => 'CAD', 'debug' => '1', 'user' => 'bkelly', 'odbc' => 0, 'host' => 'localhost', 'passwd' => undef, 'commit' => 1, 'prevbizday' => '20120825', 'today' => '20121014', 'dbsystem' => 'sqlite', 'dsn' => 'beancounter', 'ubcfx' => 1 }; Database has schema 0.8.7, we require version 0.6.0 Url is http://fx.sauder.ubc.ca/cgi/fxdata?b=CAD&ld=14&lm=10&ly=2012&fd=25&fm=08&fy=2012&daily&q=volume&f=csv&o=T.C&c=IAU --> Pacific Exchange Rate Service - Error Use of uninitialized value in print at /usr/share/perl5/Finance/BeanCounter.pm line 376. With ubcfx it seems the url has the stock symbol instead of the currency symbol as the last paramter. If I change the url to: http://fx.sauder.ubc.ca/cgi/fxdata?b=CAD&ld=14&lm=10&ly=2012&fd=25&fm=08&fy=2012&daily&q=volume&f=csv&o=T.C&c=USD then this will return a table in a browser. [Bug 1013093] Re: Latest kernel causes purple screen of death
I followed the DebuggingKernalBoot wiki and everything went ok. I restarted three times (without modifying grub) and it started ok. I don't know what's changed.
