[Bug 1458323] Re: Asterisk crashes with default install because of pjsip

2015-09-30 Thread Carlos Fenollosa
This happens to me, too. Blacklisting the module does nothing.
Reinstalling with a clean config does nothing.

I have had no choice but to roll back the whole system upgrade to a
previous backup.

It is a shame that probably the most important PBX is broken on probably
the most important Linux distro.

[Bug 122118] Pressing Ctrl+W once closes all tabs, one by one

2007-06-25 Thread Carlos Fenollosa
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

I'd like to think that this is my keyboard's fault, but I've only been
able to reproduce this behaviour on Firefox, and only with Ctrl+W

The situation is as follows, and happens quite often (not always, but
often): I have many tabs opened, and press ctrl+w to close the current
tab, as I've always done. If this bug appears, firefox will keep closing
all tabs, even though ctrl+w is no longer pressed, until there is only
one tab and the browser closes itself.

After firefox has closed, no other windows are closed, so this isn't the
keyboard's or the window manager's fault. Also, when typing on web
forms, like I'm doing now filing this bug report, no keys get stuck.
It only happens with ctrl+w.

This bug seems to appear only when I'm working with beryl (0.2.0) but,
as stated before, it's not happening with any other app

If you need further information please contact me here, I'll be happy to
trace down this bug.

[Bug 121090] Evolution fails to download some gmail emails

2007-06-18 Thread Carlos Fenollosa
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I'm not quite sure if this is a gmail or an evolution bug, so I've also
reported it as a gmail bug, we'll see what happens.

The thing is that sometimes (not reproducible) evolution fails to
download some of the emails from gmail. The account is properly
configured and there is no pattern for the failed emails, like sender,
subject or anything. The messages still appear on gmail, but Evolution
won't download them anymore.

I've been some days wondering why Evolution wouldn't download some of
the emails, and today I just gazed the message failed to download
message 2 of 8 in the download status window. Evolution had downloaded
the first of all unread emails and then stopped, being unable to catch
up or something and redownload them later.

Maybe gmail thinks that the client has downloaded all messages properly
and marks them as downloaded? I don't know, but the failed to
download message X of Y also confuses me.

I don't really know how to debug this, and it seems to be a protocol
problem. If you give me further instructions I'll be happy to provide
more information

Thanks

[Bug 61105] Re: Mouse jumps to center in (sdl?/opengl?) games

2007-05-21 Thread Carlos Fenollosa
My case:

ATI mobility X700 card, fglrx driver. The mouse jumps to center on:

-xmoto (opengl)
-neverball/neverputt/etc (opengl)
-dosbox (??)

The mouse doesn't jump:
-wesnoth (sdl)
-scummvm (??)

If it were only an opengl issue, why does the bug appear on dosbox? This
drives me nuts. It seems that the bug was reported long time ago, but in
my case it appeared on Feisty and not before.

Let's see if we can reduce the scope of the bug and find its cause,
because it makes most games unplayable.

[Bug 107719] Re: When firefox is downloading a file, crashes and restarts the session, it deletes the previously downloaded file

2007-05-02 Thread Carlos Fenollosa
I just tested it now with an AVI file, and it just ignored the avi.part
file with data and re-started from the beginning, overwriting the .avi
(which is empty). This time firefox didn't lose the previous data, so
the user can rename the .avi.part to an .avi and then wget -c the
previous download, but that's not the expected behaviour, I think.

I've tried it on two sites that require HTTP authentication, and it
never really resumes the previous file. When firefox crashes, I restart
it and restore the session, the download manager starts to re-download
the file.

IMHO Firefox should either try to continue the download (saving the
cookie from the download page that uses the HTTP authentication) or tell
the user to login again on the page, click on the same file and then
resume the download. What do you think?

[Bug 107719] When firefox is downloading a file, crashes and restarts the session, it deletes the previously downloaded file

2007-04-19 Thread Carlos Fenollosa
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

I must say that this has been really annoying.

I was downloading a large file (the Feisty ISO, but that's not relevant)
when firefox crashed because one of the Flash plugin bugs. I re-opened
it, restored the session and the download manager trashed the data that
I had already downloaded. It was 400 MB, an hour and a half
downloading...

The problem is that I was getting the file from a private mirror where I
have to login in order to download anything. So, when firefox re-opened
and tried to continue the download, it got a webpage saying permission
denied and OVERWROTE the previous data, replacing it with the damn php
file.

So, to sum up, the bug is the following: When firefox crashes, if it is
trying to resume a download, don't trash the downloaded data. If it
can't resume for some reason (in this case, because it got a php file
instead an ISO image), tell the user what to do, or make a backup of the
current data and then restart the download.

Regressions are ugly, and some people will be disappointed to see that

Andrew, the SD cards don't work for me and I'm using Feisty's default

workaround.

[Bug 53923] Re: tifm: Texas Instruments Card reader not working

2007-04-14 Thread Carlos Fenollosa
Andrew,

I tried your solution (setpci + using 'sdhci' module), but it didn't
work.

I entered the setpci command with the correct address, modprobed sdhci,
and then inserted the SD card, but nothing happened. 'dmesg' does not
show any information about the SD card, it seems like it was't inserted.

Anything else I could try besides recompiling the module?

PS: Can I reverse the setpci command? I mean, typing something to use
tifm again instead of sdhci?

Thanks

[Bug 93346] Re: OpenOffice.org 2.2 crashes on exit

2007-04-09 Thread Carlos Fenollosa
I'm trying to reproduce the bug now and it doesn't crash anymore. None
of OOo's components seems to have the problem.

I'll try to reproduce the bug for a couple of days more, and report any
changes. Maybe it was a bug concerning gtk+, Xorg or the kernel, who
knows. These packages change almost every day on Feisty.

[Bug 103365] Complete hang after a bluetooth device disconnects

2007-04-05 Thread Carlos Fenollosa
Public bug reported:

I can reproduce the bug, but I don't know how to help debugging it
because the system hangs completely.

I have a bluetooth phone (nokia 5200), and I access it via wammu and
nautilus (gnome-obex-vfs). If I access it with wammu, the phone reports
that it has been associated with the computer, and after closing wammu
it successfully reports that it has been deassociated.

But, when accessing the files with nautilus, the phone doesn't report
that it's being associated with the computer. Nevertheless, if I disable
bluetooth on it, a warning message appears, saying that all the
connected devices will be disconnected; I suppose that it refers to the
computer.

Well, after disabling BT on the phone, after a few seconds, the computer
completely hangs, and I have to reset.

I'm running Feisty with Linux vayralemine 2.6.20-13-generic #2 SMP Sun
Mar 25 00:21:25 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux, on an Acer Aspire 1692 with an
external USB bluetooth device.

[Bug 102968] No sound after upgrading to kernel 2.6.20-13-generic

2007-04-04 Thread Carlos Fenollosa
Public bug reported:

I just installed Feisty Beta on a friend's laptop and, after getting the
last upgrades, no sound can be heard. Totem reports that The requested
audio output was not found. Please select another audio output in the
Multimedia Systems Selector.

It seems to play the audio file (the progress bar moves forward) but no
sound can be heard.

As this is not my computer it will be difficult to help finding the
problem, but I can ask for some easy info (dmesg, etc) to my friend.

[Bug 94264] No network after resuming suspend-to-memory

2007-03-20 Thread Carlos Fenollosa
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.20-12-generic

I think this is a kernel issue. I'm running 2.6.20-12-generic, and with
2.6.20-11-generic this bug didn't happen.

I have an Acer Aspire 1692 laptop, and after resuming from suspend-to-
memory the wireless network does not work. Network-manager asks for the
keyring password and then tries to connect to the wireless network.

After the first circle turns green (I think this means that the laptop
has been associated with the AP), network-manager's icon turns to the
two screens with a red X, meaning that it couldn't connect.

Retrying just repeats the same behaviour

How can I try to debug this?

Thanks

[Bug 87022] When an app prevents from umounting, tell the user which app it is

2007-02-22 Thread Carlos Fenollosa
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-volume-manager

This is kind of wishlist bug, but very useful for a novice user.

When there is a mounted drive (let's say, USB pendrive) and there is
some app using it (let's say, a gnome-terminal cd'ed to
/media/pendrive), if the user tries to umount it from Nautilus (right
click - umount), a window appears telling him/her that An application
is using the drive and it cannot be umounted.

What I ask is that it would be very useful to internally run a lsof
/media/pendrive (or whatever path) and tell the user which app is
preventing the umount. For example, a message saying Gnome-terminal is
preventing the umount tells the user which app he/she must close to
complete the umount.

[Bug 85369] need to add Option MonitorLayout LVDS on xorg.conf

2007-02-15 Thread Carlos Fenollosa
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

NOTE: there is a gnome-panel trace attached, but it's of no use. I
right-clicked on the panel and selected 'file a bug', so I suppose
that's the reason

I have an Acer Aspire 1692 laptop, with an integrated ATI mobile
graphics card. Most hardware works well, but with the livecd, and after
installation, xorg is broken and only shows a black screen. I can hear
the startup sound, but no video.

I investigated a little bit and found that I had to add the following
option to xorg.conf:

Option MonitorLayout LVDS

After that, a restart on gdm makes xorg work perfectly.

I am filling this bugreport to ask if this can be done automatically at
the hardware detection phase. Thanks a lot!

[Bug 66592] Bad use of dist-upgrade

2006-10-17 Thread Carlos Fenollosa
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

Yesterday, update-manager needed to dist-upgrade to upgrade all
packages correctly. This is rather normal sometimes (not in production
environments, though), but it is quite a common task.

Update-manager presented a window saying you need to upgrade the
distribution and then another window upgrading to ubuntu 6.10. This
is not incorrect, but for the non-techie user this is a problem. The
user might think that the computer is upgrading to a NEW distribution,
rather than just updating the current one (with a different apt
commandline, but for the user this is not important)

What I mean is that, though update-manager called apt with a dist-
upgrade, it should be careful not to present the distribution upgrade
window if the distribution isn't actually upgrading

[Bug 66609] Broken DVD disc leaves system unusable

2006-10-17 Thread Carlos Fenollosa
Public bug reported:

This is not (AFAIK) just an Ubuntu problem, but I had to blame somebody!
;)

A few minutes ago I tried to copy a file from a DVD to the hard disk
(nautilus drag-n-drop). The DVD was kind of scratched, so the transfer
seemed to fail. The problem is, no message appeared, the DVD started to
sound the typical noise when it's scratched (we all know it) and the
remaining time for the copy began to raise.

The system began to become unusable. I waited some minutes, but no luck.
The DVD was spinning and making funny noises. Then I tried to eject by
pressing the button, but no luck. After that, I pressed the cancel
button, but it didn't cancel! It was just as if I hadn't clicked the
button. Then nautilus kind of died, and I were unable to right-click on
the desktop icon for the DVD, there were no icons at all.

So with an unsable system, tried ctrl-alt-backspace to restart the X,
but the keyboard didn't respond. Sysrq didn't work anyway. So the last
resort was to press the reset button.

Honestly I think that this shouldn't happen in a XXI century operating
system. I had suffered from this since I remember (kernel 2.2 and very
old redhats, problem with broken CDs), but apparently nobody fixed it.

Sorry if this has nothing to do with Ubuntu, but I'm using ubuntu after
all and I had to fill the bug report somewhere...

[Bug 66094] Wrong battery levels

2006-10-14 Thread Carlos Fenollosa
Public bug reported:

Sorry not to give more information, I needed to report this bug because
it's kind of critical and I hope it's easy to solve.

I'm using gnome-power-manager since Dapper and it worked flawlessly. I
upgraded to Edgy Knot 3 with the upgrade-manager, and many things broke,
but all of them got solved but one. This one is the battery issue.

My laptop is an Acer Aspire 1692, and as I said before, the battery
level report was correct in Dapper. Now, when I unplug the cable, g-p-m
tells me that the battery level is critical (and it launches the default
action to do when the battery level is critical). The thing is, the
battery level isn't critical, it's just an error.

I'm not quite sure where the error comes from. G-p-m measures it
incorrectly, and so does the battery panel applet. Strangely enough,
running an acpi -t on a console reports the *actual* remaining battery
time.

I'm thinking this might be a dbus issue, but I'm not sure, so I leave it
as I don't know. The bug is not critical but is a serious issue,
because it can cause all laptops (after upgrading to Edgy) to shutdown
or hivernate every time they are unplugged from the AC, not to mention
that the user can't get the real remaining battery time

[Bug 63769] Problems detecting remaining power

2006-10-03 Thread Carlos Fenollosa
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

I updated to Edgy from 6.06, where g-p-m worked flawlessly.

Now, when I unplug the power cord, g-p-m says that the battery level is
critical, even when it's not. I know it's not an acpi bug because acpi
works on the console:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ acpi -t
 Battery 1: discharging, 59%, 00:27:23 remaining
 Thermal 1: ok, 48.0 degrees C
