My error in the logfile looks different but I've got the exact same bug as
Hanine.
See the last entry in my attached logfile.

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: pulseaudio
When running Ubuntu 10.04 Beta 2 from an USB-stick (live system) on my EeePC
900 (no A), the Sound doesn't seem to work. When I play the Free Culture
Showcase ogm file, for example, there is no sound. As you can see in the

Same here. Crash on trying to access the desktop switcher applet's settings.
After the crash and the automatic restart it is accessible and I can change the
amount of desktops.
I use the beta 1 live cd on a computer with Nvidia 8600GT if that matters.

Binary package hint: nautilus
I've got a Hitachi HDS721010CLA332 External USB Harddrive.
It works fine, except that Nautilus crashes when I try to access it, when it's
in power saving mode.
With Ubuntu 9.04 it worked fine. Nautilus went gray while the HDD woke up from

Same Problem with the Toshiba Satellite P200 1FT of my dad and Alpha 6 Live USB.
It kept crashing while showing the loading screen as described by Graham. And
when I tried to jump into the console with Ctrl+Alt+F1 there were glitches and
no console.

I confirm this Bug.
I use Compiz Fusion on my Hardy. I wasn't able to see if special Video's
changed the colors. It seems to happen at random to me, when I start a video.
Changing from auto to opengl in gxine works for me as well.
My System: Intel Core 2 Duo 2x 2,2 GHz, Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT

I confirm that tonioLeRital's Fix works for me as well. I had either no
Shadows, or those shadows in strange colors like yellow, pink, or neon green.
With tonio's Fix the Shadows are back and everything is
Confirmed as well. I use Hardy Final now, had the Problem from the start
because I upgraded from Gutsy and had the gnome-power-manager disabled
before already. Googled a little and found that workaround with
reenabling gnome-power-manager. The Shutdown-Dialog starts now
immediately.

8600 GT on Hardy here aswell. No Shadows too. I'd be really happy if someone
could put the newest Nvidia-Driver to the Repository. :/
As the fixing is not really hard but a lot of People are affected, this really
should be fixed soon. I wouldn't want to recommend Hardy to someone
transferring
The Repository seems to have a Server Malconfiguration or such. The
Error mentioned above happens, when I try to upgrade my Software. But it
happens just with the mentioned Package. Others are not affected.
Therefore it's rather a Problem with apt-get than a xserver-xorg bug.

xserver-xorg
I'm just here to confirm this bug. On the remote machine I've Dapper
Server Edition installed. On the local machine Gutsy upgraded from
Feisty. Since the Upgrade XDMCP doesn't work anymore.
Grizzly asked for that row out of the syslog. I have it as well after trying to
connect via XDMCP:
