Same here. Ubiquity during manual partitioning master hard drive is not seen at all and slave hard disc is referenced as sda. Installing anyway and the system will not boot, grub comes up with error 15. I rebooted into Karmic live CD and then Hardy live CD and ran cfdisk and gparted from both.

Unable to submit crash report there isn't one. Reinstalled GDM which fixed problem here until reboot when it returns,still get 'CRITICAL: Error...' if sudo gdmsetup run from terminal. Any amend to gdm from gdmsetup also produces a slow shutdown and 'LIBHAL shutdown failed' error message.This
