[Bug 1765036] Re: BCM4350 needs to be unloaded/loaded on suspend to not crash

2020-04-23 Thread Cris
Hi. I have Ubuntu 20.04 running on a Macboook PRO 2016 (with touchbar).
I'm experiencing the same issue, but unloading brcmfmac module before
suspend did not help. I also tried reloading the module and
NetworkManager when the laptop wakes up, but not helpful as well.

For making wifi work on my macbook I had to put this txt file inside
/lib/firmware/brcm
https://gist.github.com/cristianmiranda/ba9d64b4324f0803d9422d765de62252

I observed that after rebooting (which is the only fix so far) I can
connect to 5G networks instantly, but after suspend/resume it tries to
connect for a long time (if it gets to see them anyway) and fails.

Any progress on this issue?
Thanks!

[Bug 1767720] Re: Ubiquity crashed during install of 18.04 with error 'BadAccess (attempt to access private resource denied)'

2018-04-30 Thread Cris Bennett
I only found this issue after a failed installation attempt, so
(apologies) I am short on detailed info. But I'm getting what looks
superficially at least just like this issue, installing to a Macbook Pro
(13", 2013). So no GeForce involved in my case.

I was booting from the Ubuntu 18.04 install iso on a small USB stick,
and installing to a (new) ext4 partition on an external SSD (GUID
partition map, with a couple of existing HFS+ partitions) mounted via
USB.

[Bug 1655842] Re: "Out of memory" errors after upgrade to 4.4.0-59

2017-01-25 Thread Cris
Hi I'd like to implement Cascardo kernel since I've been having the same issue,
though not on all of
the xenial machines running 4.4.0-59-generic which is strange.
Could someone tell how to implement Cascardo kernel without completely messing
up my machine.

Thanks

[Bug 65621] Re: DeskJet 3740 (and probably many others) should print in reverse

2016-05-20 Thread Cris
Are you serious? It's been nearly 8 years and this crap still hasn't
been solved. Have you ever printed 20 pages in multiple sets? I did,
with my F370, and then I had to reorder them manually every single time.

This is why the Linux userspace will never take over the desktop--
stubborn developers who get in the way of convenience. How is the
default behaviour faster? Because it shaves off the few picoseconds it
takes the program to reverse an array?

I can confirm the same problem using Gnome 3.14.1; Nautilus doesn't
remember hidden files toggle, nor clicking the button in preferences

[Bug 1247221] Re: Nautilus doesn't remember setting for showing hidden files correctly when org.gtk.Settings.FileChooser show-hidden is true

2015-05-07 Thread Cris Grada
I tried this (using dconf-editor in Gnome 3.14.1):
Terminal → dconf-editor → org → gtk → settings → file chooser
The Show hidden option must be UNCHECKED and BE CONFIRMED at the bottom page
button - Set to default
This worked. Please see the #4 comment on this page.

[Bug 954696] [NEW] printer,VLC,Video restarts and lockout timeout

2012-03-13 Thread cris bishop
Public bug reported:

the newest version 12.04 LTS beta the pc specs are: 6core amd 8 gig ram
37gig wd rapture harddrive video is a ATI 5450 1 gig

1) the printer prints a junk page for every single page printed with this info
printed on the pages
JL SET MEDIATYPE=REGULAR @PJL SET SOURCETRAY=AUTO @PJL SET RESOLUTION=600
@PJL SET

2) the default media player can not play any video files at all so i added VLC
again no video files can play
it restarts and locks the screen then you must log back in to open the pc but
then it occasionaly hangs and a hard restart is required

3)when pc is left idel it screen locs .. no way of turning off this
feature? and can no longer leave a note option

4) the disk utility can not format any drives internal or external or
USB connected non can be tested without errors

5) my 8yr old daughter was playing on the web on some children website and it
crashed the ubuntu to a reboot
this is not encouraging at all i have always said to windoz/mac users is it
children proof can you set a child loose on the pc on the web with out crashes
well i can say not the case with 12.04 LTS

6) on my MSI netbook 1core atom with 2 gig ram and 750 gig harddrive the
audio is totally messed up now and it will play on one speaker about 80%
of the time ad the other speaker never plays and 20% of the time no
audio at all .. tested with my head set also the same results so prob
just a driver conflict i think

thank you ubuntu community for helping solve the glitches that have so far
shown up

is the only option up there (other than to enable Notifications),
Enable Wireless does not show up. And I've tried everything else that
was recommended. Please, I need to get this fixed before Tuesday. Please

[Bug 678245] [NEW] f-spot crashes from integer conversion exception

2010-11-21 Thread Cris Jansson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: f-spot

After scrolling through the date bar to an earlier date, f-spot
crashes with an exception. My photo collection has about 9200 images.
Some of the images were imported with an earlier version of f-spot. It
only occurs with the older photos, so it maybe a particular one.

Tail of f-spot --debug:

[Bug 521640] Re: ubuntu struck on login screen, message: 'the configuration defaults for the gnome power manager has not been installed correctly'

2010-03-05 Thread Cris
I have a similar problem.
In recovery mode I manually reinstalled gnome-power-manager and
gnome-settings-daemon (based on advice found on Ubuntu support forums, I am a
newbie to Ubuntu). The message the configuration defaults for the GNOME Power
Manager have not been installed correctly. Please contact your computer
administrator. disappeared, but after prompting for password I still get a
flickering screen and the system asks for the password again.

[Bug 496253] Re: login keyring does not get unlocked at login

2009-12-20 Thread Cris
The problem seems to be related to downgrading gdm to gdm-2.20.

Steps to reproduce:

1. downgrade to gdm-2.20 (e.g.: apt-get install gdm-2.20)
2. remove residual gdm's configuration files (e.g.: dpkg --purge gdm)
3. reinstall gdm-2.20 (e.g.: apt-get --reinstall install gdm-2.20)

Restart and login: the login.keyring does not get anymore unlocked
automatically.

The following steps seem to solve the problem:
1. reinstall gdm (e.g.: apt-get install gdm)
2. downgrade to gdm-2.20 (e.g.: apt-get install gdm-2.20)
3. do not purge the gdm configuration!

[Bug 445852] Re: devkit-disks-probe-ata-smart causes HSM Violations on SSD, and potential hardware death

2009-12-17 Thread Cris
While upgrading my eeepc 900 to Karmic (before I had to recover the ssd and
fall-back to Jaunty),
I've noticed a very marked slow down of the disk operations: the upgrade
process took quite 5 hours.

Which makes me believe that the disk corruption happens already during
the upgrade/install process.

[Bug 496253] Re: login keyring does not get unlocked at login

2009-12-14 Thread Cris
Thank you for your reply.

I've updated a bit the description and the title:
the right keyring is the 'login.keyring', which is supposed to be unlocked at
login by the pam_gnome_keyring module.

Well, this used to work until yesterday morning; then suddenly, without
any user configuration, stopped to work.

Interesting is that it does not seem to work anymore even for a newly
created users.

[Bug 445256] Re: Wrong path to X server in gdm.conf

2009-11-07 Thread Cris
Please fix this bug.
The only way to have the old sane gdm features and behavior at the moment is
downgrading gdm to 2.20:
GDM version = 2.21 are basically incomplete and miss a lot of the old features
...
... and configuring the new versions is simply too complicated for users ...

I would suggest each one to complain mainstream by writing your opinion

[Bug 272832] Re: new design still not implemented

2008-10-02 Thread Cris G
Hi all of you here ;) after reading this posts I can say that the main
Ubuntu's lookfeel, or interface need a big review. Yes the MacOS looks
good, Vista also, but Ubuntu need something different, surely not to
introduce dark themes as default; Apple slowly leaves the Aqua interface
to something more simple, more clean and efficient, at least this i
think is the direction they took... Orange and brown is not bad, it
reminds sun but no fresh, warm but no cold, I think here need to combine
these items to really come out something new; I'm sure a lot of you know
what must be done for ; some impressions with a little angry that my
preffered OS hasn't yet a solid identity for impact. What do you think,
guys? cheers, cris ;)

[Bug 231575] Re: ATAPI devices malfunctioning

2008-06-18 Thread Cris
Some days ago, tired of not being able to use the devices fully, I've installed
an extension SATA controller card based on the Sil 3114:
a similar problem showed up for some newly acquired SATA optical devices.

The problem seems to have disappeared after I've installed the extension
card on a PCI slot with a reserved IRQ.

As the on-board SATA controller shares the IRQ with other devices on the
motherboard, I'm asking myself if probably the problem is due to the ata
driver not working properly with ATAPI devices on a controller in such
configuration :/

[Bug 231575] [NEW] ATAPI devices malfunctioning

2008-05-18 Thread Cris
Public bug reported:

I'm experiencing problems with my ATAPI devices:
suddenly they stop working properly and get uncontrollable/disappear, while I
got such errors from the kernel:

 ...

I'm not sure if due to this troubles, but I had to remove a DVD-ROM
device from the system because a audio cdrom literally exploded
(probably due to too high speed?) and kept getting these errors for the
other device, a DVD-RW.

Both devices are Lite-On products and attached on the A8V Deluxe
motherboards' IDE connectors.

I'm going to attach additional information to this report: please, let
me know if you need any other details.

Thank you in advance for your help!

[Bug 159686] action 'ask me' (interactive) not available for suspend button

2007-11-03 Thread Cris

Hi,

when using the 'gnome-power-preferences' on 'gutsy' the option 'ask me'
does not seem to be available among the actions available for the
suspend button, although it is possible to configure the desired

2007-10-24 Thread Cris Amon

I've found at another bug comments about a similar trouble with ATI X300 Card.

I have the suspicion that it is the Animations plugin that causes the
freeze when one of the effects are activated (perhaps some pointer goes
spoink). If this is the case, then further investigation would be to
identify which animation is to blame.

So far I have deactivated the animations plugin and it seems to go ok
:-)

I've not tried yet ..

Reproduce this way:
- panel properties - uncheck expand
- move around items until they're in the positions you want
- lock to panel every item so that they can't be moved
- now restart your PC (maybe restarting the panel is enough)
- when panel comes up the order of items is lost
