2019-08-25 Thread Data Slanger
This bug is happening to me right now, with the 18 LTS ISO server
install disc I downloaded earlier today - the same day you patched it!

However, beyond the error we both received, I had received another
Python exception that wasn't caught (see below):

Certainly there are many other uncaught exceptions in this code base as
well, as I stumbled across the two of them on my first install on this
server.

[Bug 1081748] [NEW] moving large amounts of data with hyper-v server causes lockup

2012-11-21 Thread K-Data Systems
Public bug reported:

I receive the following stack trace in my dmesg output and I lose
connection to my server when moving a large amount of data on my Ubuntu
12.04 lts server that is on Hyper-V. This happens when copying data from
my server over scp to another server or even tarring up a local
directory on the server. If I throttle the backup for example with the
pv command to 50mbps I dont have any problems. I monitor my server with
Nagios and it always says it went offline when moving large amounts of
data. I am not sure what else to go on.

[Bug 989902] Re: Kubuntu 12.04 Alternate CD missing file

2012-06-13 Thread Data
I encountered this bug when doing an installation of ubuntu alternate
amd64 from a USB stick. The USB-Stick was created using UNetbootin. (As
usb_creator didn't work for me).

A workaround that worked for me is: (from Bug #976509)

On your USB-drive:
- cd to pool/main/x/xserver-xorg-video-ati/
- Make sure all files end with the _amd64.deb (or _i386.deb if your'e on
i386) extention. If not rename them!
- Do the same in pool/main/x/xserver-xorg-video-nouveau
- Installation will now proceed without errors

[Bug 738808] [NEW] [Natty Alpha 3] Suspend does not work on Asus U36jc

2011-03-20 Thread Data
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pm-utils

Suspend does not work on Asus U36jc.
When selecting suspend from the session-indicator menu, the screen becomes
blank.
However, the screen backlight stays on and after a few seconds the fan goes up

Need a hard reboot to get things functional again.

I am using the latest daily live version of Natty. This is a live

Please feel free to ask for any further information you might need.

[Bug 659150] [NEW] clock applet opens evolution with wrong date

2010-10-12 Thread DaTa
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

A double click on a date opens evolution with the wrong date, this
happens since I've upgraded to maverick.

I.E. I click on 2010-10-12, then 2010-10-11 get's opened. It's always the day
before the one I've selected.
2010-01-01 opens 2010-09-30 and so on.

It might be a reocurrence of #139627 (I've not reopened it, because it
is so old)

I've not installed it explicitly, is that enabled by default on karmic?

[Bug 447292] Re: permission denied on various files while starting evince

I think the problem is that my $HOME is /home/danielt and /home is a
symlink to /export/home. And AppArmor fails on that.

Re: [Bug 447292] Re: permission denied on various files while starting evince

However, evince still won't run correctly due to #415632. A fix is
pending for that issue and should be available in the next karmic
 kernel.

Thank you for the information.

I highly suggest rather than removing all of AppArmor, that you simply
 disable the problematic profile. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingApparmor for details. There are many
profiles enabled in the default install which greatly improves the
security of your machine, and disabling all of AppArmor is not
 recommended.

You sit in front of

  [1] strace -e mkdir evince
  mkdir(/home/danielt/.gnome2/evince, 0700) = -1 EACCES (Permission denied)

  (evince:8463): EvinceDocument-WARNING **: Failed to create directory

[0] strace -e mkdir perl -le 'mkdir /home/danielt/.gnome2/evince,0700 or
die($!)'
  mkdir(/home/danielt/.gnome2/evince, 0700) = 0

and think: What the fu^W^Wheck is going on?

I've checked for SELinux (Where I've had a similar problem), but until a
few hours ago, I've never ever heard about AppArmor.

Maybe I'll give it a try sometime, but not know. (I'm angry about
AppArmor at the moment :)

When plugging in my 500GB Western Digital harddrive, the device does not
show up in Places. However, the device works correctly in Hardy, so it
dows not seem to be a Hardware problem.

Also note that all my other external USB drives do work with Karmic.

When plugged in, the device shows up for a few seconds in lsusb, but then
vanishes.
The dmesg output says something about:

  device descriptor read/64, error -71
  (see the attached dmesg log)

  The following thread on ubuntuforums:
  http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=797789
suggests, that it has something to do with USB power saving and one could
disable it by issuing the command
  echo -1 /sys/module/usbcore/parameters/autosuspend
- as root and then reboot. However, this does not work for me as I am using the
live-CD, such that the change gets lost at reboot. (I wanted to install Karmic

[Bug 424911] [NEW] External USB drive does not work in Karmic (works in Hardy)

2009-09-05 Thread Data
Public bug reported:

I am using Ubuntu Karmic Alpha 5.

The following thread on ubuntuforums:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=797789
suggests, that it has something to do with USB power saving and one could
disable it by issuing the command
echo -1 /sys/module/usbcore/parameters/autosuspend
as root and then reboot. However, this does not work for me as I am using the
live-CD, such that the change gets lost at reboot. (I wanted to install Karmic
on the external disk that is not recognized)

I am happy to provide further Information you might need for debugging.

[Bug 424918] [NEW] update-manager shows wrong list of changes in some cases

2009-09-05 Thread Data
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

When clicking on a new entry in the list of updates, the list of changes
below says:

Downloading list of changes...

for a few seconds. When one clicks onto another entry during that time,
the changelog for the previously selected entry will show up instead of
the currently selected one.

The screenshot attached shows update-manager with selected entry bluey-
utils but showing the changelog for brasero

Steps to reproduce:
- Start update-manager
- When new updates are available, click on a new entry
- While the changelog below says Downloading list of changes..., quickly
click on another entry
Result:
- The List of changes shows the changelog of the previously selected package
Expected result:
- The List of changes shows the changelog for the currently selected package

[Bug 115071] Re: firefox rss feed chooser doesn't pick up installed apps

2008-05-31 Thread Data
It is still an issue with firefox-3.0RC1.
This is related to another bugreport complaining about firefox's inability to
detect which programs are installed for which mime-types. Instead you have to
select the executable from a directory by hand. Resolving that bug would also
solve this one. Unfortunately I cannot find it right now...
Maybe I'll look for it later

[Bug 197781] Re: [Hardy] Firefox preferences - some categories do not work if clicked too fast

2008-05-30 Thread Data
I thoroughly looked through the firefox bugs in bugzilla.mozilla.org, but could
not find the exact issue.
The closest bug to this one I could find was:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430147
But I am pretty sure that's a different bug.

So could someone else please report this bug to the bugzilla? (As I do not have
a bugzilla account...)
That would be great!

[Bug 186448] Re: Firefox/Thunderbird Preferences Window too short

2008-05-24 Thread Data
John, sorry for the confusion, I meant my comment after the one you quoted.
The issue is indeed still present in thunderbird 2.0.0.14.

The issue is the following (steps to reproduce):
1.) Open preferences and switch to a tab which content is not high like
Privacy or Atachments
2.) Close preferences and re-open it again, see that it opens showing the same
tab you switched to earlier but with resized height (in this case: decreased
height).
3.) Now switch to a different tab and see that the height of the window is
not high enough to show all the contents of the other tab

[Bug 197781] Re: [Hardy] Firefox preferences - some categories do not work if clicked too fast

2008-05-22 Thread Data
sorry for the delay, guys...
@John:
It happens both on my old notebook (1.4 Ghz Pentium M, 512MB RAM, 16 MB Intel
Graphics card with shared memory), on my new notebook (1.5 Ghz Intel Core 2
Duo, 2 GB RAM, 256 MB intel Graphics card with shared RAM) and on every
Virtualbox installation of hardy).
It also happens with and without compiz enabled.
I really don't think this is a graphics-related issue. I think the elements
(buttons, text fields, etc) inside the tabs that are not showing are really not
loaded (not just not shown due to some graphics glitch).
@asac:
I tested with firefox3.0RC1 (from ppa.launchpad.net/fta/ubuntu hardy main) and
the bug still occurs.

[Bug 186448] Re: Firefox/Thunderbird Preferences Window too short

2008-05-22 Thread Data
I just re-tested and in firefox3beta5 in my installation of hardy, the
bug does not occur anymore. You can resize the references-window both
horizontally and vertically as you like but after closing and re-opening
the window the width and height are fine again.

Can anyone confirm?

[Bug 197781] Re: [Hardy] Firefox preferences - some categories do not work if clicked too fast

2008-05-13 Thread Data
@asac:
Sorry, didn't know, that package firefox was actually firefox 2. Thanks for
changing the affected packages!
@John:
I tried to trigger the bug on two different notebooks and also with a clean
profile, as you suggested and it is still present, although, it is harder to
trigger the bug on faster computers (as the bug only occurs when a tab in the
preferences-window couldn't be loaded, because the user switched to a different
tab fast enough).

Quite a certain way to trigger the bug is:

1. Open Preferences
2. Use the tab-key to change the focus until the tab-bar is selected.
3. Press left-key/right-key and keep holding it down for a while, so that
the cursor races through the different tabs (Privacy, Security, Advanced,
etc.)
4. Now click each tab and see that tabs some do not show any content/ the
content does not change when changing tabs.

Maybe you could try again to trigger the bug on your machine?

(This bug does not seem to be very noticeable/annoying on fast machines
but it is really annyoing when using a slow computer or in a virtual
machine)

[Bug 197781] Re: [Hardy alpha 5] Firefox preferences - some categories to not work

2008-05-12 Thread Data
The bug is still present in an up-to-date installation of hardy (firefox
3beta5).
John, I do not really understand why you mention firefox-2 as firefox-2 was
never mentioned in this bugreport.
So I am setting this bug status back to New, so that someone else can confirm
it.
Also I do not understand why it should be better to file a new bug for this
issue as this bugreport here already exists. But maybe I am missing something
here (Is it better to file a report by using Help Report a problem than just
filing a bug in lauchpad like this one?), so feel free to correct me, if
necessary.

** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu)
   Status: Won't Fix = New

** Summary changed:

- [Hardy alpha 5] Firefox preferences - some categories to not work
+ [Hardy] Firefox preferences - some categories do not work if clicked too fast

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: firefox

I am using an up-to-date installation of hardy alpha 5 with firefox 3
  beta 3.

What happens is the following: When I go to the preferences-window, some
categories so not work. With categories I mean Main, Tabs, Content
and so on. This means: Usually when I click on a category, the
appropriate content is shown. However, when I click on categories that
no not work, nothing happens (a.k.a the content from the category
selected before is still showing). See attached screenshot, which shows
- the content of Main, although Seurity is selected.
+ the content of Main, although Security is selected.

After each restart of firefox, other categories are affected. Which ones
  seems to be quite random.

[Bug 208570] Re: strange graphics bug, window looks squished, wrong colors

2008-04-06 Thread Data
Yep. I think the vesa driver is a good guess (Obviously we need some
package to blame the bug on).

Could someone who knows what package the vesa driver is in, add that to
the affected packages?

(Of course I know that it is not a gnome-system-monitor bug nor a gnome-
do bug, but if we set them all to invalid without any other afftected
packages, the bug report will just vansih...)

[Bug 186448] Re: Firefox/Thunderbird Preferences Window too short

2008-03-28 Thread Data
Nope, the problem with firefox (3 beta 4) is still existent on my up-to-date
installation of hardy beta.
In the advanced tab, the button Check Now is still not completely visible.

Nattgew:
Furthermore, if I resize the preferences window manually and switch tabs, the
window size does not change at all... Does it really work for you?

So setting status for firefox-3.0 back to confirmed.

[Bug 182350] Re: no longer reports installed and available versions

2008-03-28 Thread Data
I guess, the details tab mentioned is actually the changes tab. And as
already stated above, it shows usually (although much later) the version of the
package that's going to be installed. However, often you do not know the
version of the currently installed package.
Furthermore it is much easier to get this information at first glance in the
List of packages than somewhere down in a changelog. And I think the versions
of the packages are important information!

[Bug 208570] [NEW] strange graphics bug, window looks squished, wrong colors

2008-03-28 Thread Data
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-monitor

I see this strange graphics bug (see attached screenshot) in an up-to-
date installation of hardy beta. I should mention I am running it as a
virtual machine in Virtualbox, so this bug should not be hardware-
related, nor related to 3D-driver issues or something like that.

So far, gnome-system-monitor seems the only affected program from the default
installation.
However, I just discovered that I also see this bug in Gnome-do (See second
screenshot)
