[Bug 1123763] Re: Veromix volume control broken by update.

2013-02-13 Thread Daniel Clem
Mkay, I have both and rebooted, but still doesn't load. :-( If it helps
I am using ElementaryOS as a base. So most the stock Ubuntu packages are
not there.

[Bug 1123763] [NEW] Veromix volume control broken by update.

2013-02-12 Thread Daniel Clem
Public bug reported:

I have been unable to find any way to manage my volume (PulseAudio) in
the stock widgets, or the ones available for download from get more
app. As well as searching around the internet in general.

This seems to be the best one available -
http://opendesktop.org/content/show.php?content=116676 - But it is
broken by each suquenctial update of KDE itself. And from what the
maintainer says, it has to do with how KDE deals with python.

Please either make it so that widget don't break with each update (so
that no longer developed widgets don't sadly die) or for a quick fix
for this issue. Actually include a simple way of controlling sound, as
well as music players that minimize to the sound menu's.

I don't know how to add log info, but the app just has an X bubble in
the place of its icon immediately when added.

Install them and still getting the same Could not create python
ScriptEngine for Veromix widget error in the tool tip of the widget.

I did try to sudo apt-get install the packages that the forum you
posted stated. But they weren't found. And couldn't find them by web
searching. Is there a repo that supplies them?

Thank you for the help.

[Bug 945603] Re: lxkeymap crashed with IndexError in finish_initializing(): list index out of range

2012-07-08 Thread Daniel Clem
For some reason my system said the bug I was trying to report (via the
automatic bug reporter) was the same as this bug. But from the
description, its not because the lxkeymap thing won't even start for me
at all. I am using CR-48 Chrome notebook. the CPU is a Intel Atom model
N455 @ 1.66GHz if that helps.

Also, I will probably try to find how to report another bug on Lubuntu
in general. Because I had a strange issue in package management. I
wanted to uninstall Chromium from Lubuntu (cause I prefer Midori, much
lighter, faster, and has all the needed extensions included by default)
But when I did remove Chromium, Firefox was automatically installed. I
have no idea why. So I uninstalled Firefox, and then Epiphany was
install (also called Web), I uninstalled Epiphany, then for some
reason, Rhythmbox was installed. And it continued to get more strange
from there. The only way I was able to solve this, was use Synaptic, and
each time a package was marked to be installed because I was removing
another, I unmarked.

It took about 10 or 15 minutes, but finally got all the strange packages
removed. But it was very frustrating to have to go through all that just
cause I wanted to remove Chromium. :-(

That aside, I am still willing to stick with Lubuntu for a while, cause
it is WAY too fast to give up on it so easily. Like, crazy insane fast.
I may actually put it on my Bigger machine, solely of the speed.

2012-04-26 Thread Daniel Clem
Only thing I can add, is that I was trying to enable the Canonical
partner thing, and the Statistics survey setting. I actually try to
stress things a bit more than most, where I check and uncheck boxes
multiple times and switch tabs alot, trying to create a simple bug or
crash. Never had this happen in previous versions. But this is the first
time I've had this bug since the fresh install a couple days ago.

[Bug 880626] Re: eog should consider menubar size when creating windows to avoid scaling

2011-12-04 Thread Daniel Clem
Yup I'll second that, it seems to do ok under Unity with the global
menu. but not under Gnome shell or Gnome2.3 with out a global menu.

I hope things can be re-done to have the window automatically resize as
the status bar and toolbar are enabled or disabled, and when switching
between images using arrow keys. Possible? I think so :-)

Can you tell me where to find the libsdl1.2-mixer package? Its not in

on on it. A PPA would be really nice.

May I ask why the sounds became 100% optional by default?

[Bug 897055] [NEW] Unable to load typewriter sounds

2011-11-27 Thread Daniel Clem
Public bug reported:

I'm running Elementary OS, which is based on Ubuntu 10.10 with very few
differences. The typewriter sounds work perfectly on my Desktop that is
running the same version of Elementary OS, but don't work at all on this
Elementary OS laptop. Despite the fact that when testing Ubuntu 11.10 on
this machine, the typewriter sounds worked perfect. I tried reinstalling
and doing updates. But no difference. Any help to fixing this would be
very much appreciated.

 Clem

[Bug 882948] [NEW] Window not resizing to the picture correctly

2011-10-28 Thread Daniel Clem
Public bug reported:

No matter what when opening an image, there are always the ugly black
bars on both sides of any image. Disabling both the status bar and
toolbar helps a little, and using a global menu makes it ALOT better.
But alot of times there still a clear black line on one side or the
other, even though Best fit is selected. I can manually resize the
window and I am able to get the window to just the perfect size so there
are no black bars any where.

I am a BIG stickler for this cause I love having a borderless window
theme. and when opening a picture and seeing black on one side or
another, it just looks plain ugly :/ I Love Eye of Gnome cause it does
the best at auto resizing. and being able to totally take away
everything in the window but the title bar, (any good ways of making
that dissapper too? :-P ) makes an average pic look really great, and a
High Res pic look Jaw Dropping!!

[Bug 882948] Re: Window not resizing to the picture correctly

2011-10-28 Thread Daniel Clem
I think its possibly the same bug, the other one is more technical bout
the reason it happens.

But even when the tool bar and the status bar are turned off and the a
Global menu is used making nothing but the title bar show, there will
still be a one or 2 pixel wide bar on either left or right side.

Not a huge deal, but a thing that add more to a list of appearance
distractions .

P.S. this 1 to 2 pixel black bar goes away by very carefully resizing

[Bug 660917] Re: Screen brightness adjustment does not change at all on my Acer Aspire Timeline 5810TZ

2011-10-20 Thread Daniel Clem
I just installed Oneiric Ocelot and this issue is still present. NOTHING
I do changes the brightness. (I don't know how find a conf file and
change the brightness variable, because I shouldn't have to)

This has been the same ever since 10.04. Back in 9.10 I could change the
brightness using the function keys, so you drop support for hardware
that was less than a year old at the time? WHY???

Even installing Ubuntu Tweak on every release and trying to adjust the
brightness in there for charching and battary modes. NOTHING changes it.

I am not a programmer or a tech kind of guy. I wish I could help find
and fix the issue. But I only started using Ubuntu 9.10 cause I was
googling for a way to fix an old machine that stopped recognizing the
DVD drive (under Windows) . Installing Ubuntu fixed this issue
completely and no matter what machine I put Ubuntu 9.10 on it worked
beautifully with full support and everything just worked. So not only is
Ubuntu's releases getting uglier (HATE purple) Its dropping support for
hardware??

[Bug 592859] Re: New Message Notifications in Empathy are not Attention-Grabbing Enough

I would like to jump on this band wagon too. I prefer Pidgin for this

WHICH I LOVE.

So I will confirm this and will also seach for the Smiley Icon bug here

great app for how simple but usefull it is cause it has a fully

I got an email asking me to check if this bug is still affecting me

happening when I was using a Ubuntu Live USB stick and downloading and
updating to the lastest patches would fill up the space on the stick so
I never can update it, and even if I could, I kept that USB stick in my

[Bug 670044] [NEW] Brasero can't right a ISO image that I made for a Video dvd

2010-11-02 Thread Daniel Clem
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

I used DeVeDe to make a dvd iso and was trying to burn it to the dvd but
it said something about error, can't not write And I don't thing the
problem is with DeVeDe. I have never been able to write a dvd or back up
a dvd to another dvd within Linux in the 1 year I've used it. And I've
gone through pretty much every dvd ripping software that is in the
Ubuntu Software Center and eachone either is confusing to use or does
not have a good quality output video, or it just doesn't finish at all
cause it freezes or has an error. And this is also true of dvd authoring
software, I've tried all the ones I can find that allow me to create a
dvd menu and none of them work. I have the non-DRM avi video. What is so
difficult about burning that to a dvd so I can watch it on a player?
This really needs to be worked out and maybe choose or write better
software cause this is getting to be un-acceptable short coming of
Linux. Despite my love for open source and the community.

1 year. I am currently on 10.10 if that is not in the report. If Linux
is to gain ground hardware support is crucial. And things like screen
brightness is basic, much less printers, webcams, and other peripherals.
I am not a advanced user at all. I am just a previous basic windows user
trying to both switch to and support Linux.

   Thank you and God Bless,
   Daniel Clem

[Bug 658563] [NEW] The indicator Applet Appmenu (or the Mac like Global Menu) needs alot of work.

2010-10-11 Thread Daniel Clem
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I really like it and it works great most of the time. But I can not
add it to more than one bar cause it just give me error messages and
doesn't add it. I have a 2 monitor Setup and one of the big flaws of Mac
and 2 monitor set ups is that both the dock and the menu bar can only be
on one screen at a time. And when you have more than one monitor it is
very frustrating to have to have windows open on both screens but still
have to go back to the main screen for the menu bar and dock. That is
the beauty of because you can have panels and configure them all you
want. But this applet still has the same short coming as the Mac
iteration of it. I know this is not a popular applet, but I really like
it and would love to see a fix for this.

Thank you and God Bless,
  Daniel Clem

[Bug 571069] [NEW] Customizable Panels work horribly on left and right sides.

2010-04-27 Thread Daniel Clem
Public bug reported:

Customizable Panels work horribly on left and right sides. i.e. Window
List 2.28.0 does not manage the windows effectively. More than 5 windows
open the buttons become very small even though the applet only takes
up 1/3 of the available space. And when auto hide is turned on, it goes
away, then comes with graphics so blurred you can not see any buttons at
all. Having this fix in the next system up date for 9.10 would be much
appreciated. Thank you and God bless.
