[Bug 1213834] Re: Dash query "2+2" should yield "4" by default
Note that it's already triggered with "calc:" , "result:" , "calculator:" and "calculate:". $ grep Keywords /usr/share/unity/scopes/info/calculator.scope Keywords=calculator;result;calculate;calc; All queries starting with ":" will directly query the scope you want. In my opinion, this bug is somewhat invalid, since there already is a "calculation detector" in the Dash querying process, but other results tend to hide its effect (you often need to scroll to see the calculator result) and you also need to have online search enabled even if the calculator scope is locally installed. For reference, here is some background on the calculator scope / dash relationship and how it works right now. Let's assume a fresh Ubuntu > 14.04 install. A) with an Internet connexion: - A "2+2" query is typed in the Dash. - The Dash sends the query to dash.ubuntu.com (with some metadata: version, language, list of local scopes) - The Scopes Server sees the query starts with a digit, adds the calculator scope to a list of local scopes to activate - It also runs its own ~relevant scopes with the query, returns results to the Dash - and selects some other ~relevant scopes from the list of local scopes and returns a list of scopes to activate to the Dash - The Dash activates scopes from this list (including the calculator scope) - The calculator scope returns "4", you probably need to scroll to find it B) If you remove the Internet connexion or decide to disable online queries: - A "2+2" query is typed in the Dash - The Dash runs a set of always enabled scopes and waits for the user to enable/disable scopes in the "FIlter results" list. - You manually activate the calculator scope - The calculator scope returns "4" -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1213834 Title: Dash query "2+2" should yield "4" by default To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/1213834/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1281640] Re: Obscene content in music search results
I confirm that. The Soundcloud API doesn't provide a way to filter these, but the Amazon scope has a way to filter offensive content (blacklisted words per locale). While this isn't an optimal solution, I'm going to see asap if it's possible for that method (provided by the smartscopes server) to be shared with the Soundcloud scope. [Bug 1256286] Re: Search for photo using XMP metadata shows no results
Hi, for speed reasons, metadata is not fully parsed and not available to the search for local photos. The only searchable tags are the one added (manually/automatically) in Shotwell. On the bright side, this might be fixed for 14.04. Also, if you use the Flickr or Picasa integration for the lens, you can actually search via most metadata fields. ** Changed in: unity-lens-photos (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1256286 Title: Search for photo using XMP metadata shows no results To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-lens-photos/+bug/1256286/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1185050] Re: [MIR] Unity 100-scopes and dependencies
Hi Michael and Lukasz! First, thanks to both for creating the bug and taking the time to do this lenghty review. * launchpad and sshsearch are python2-based. We shouldn't add more python2 packages to the desktop image, if we can help it. I understand that they are both only python2 because of dependencies. If the Desktop team really wants them in, I defer to them. The Launchpad scope could maybe leave the client side to move on the smart scopes server, but that would kill the possibility of having any desktop integration with it in the future. I do agree with the rationale of keeping new python2 out, but I think it would be unfortunate to ship a GitHub scope and not a Launchpad one. The sshsearch one has a dependency on python-paramiko, and the python3 paramiko port is being discussed on their project bugtracker, but not there yet. * musique has one oddity in its get_album_art() function: it returns audacious as the icon name in a few error cases. Is that intentional? That's clearly a bug we missed, Musique not being one of the most used scope of the stack. * guayadeque has a test method (test_guayadeque_failing_search) that has a typo. It references the file mock_clementine_fail, when it should be mock_guayadeque_fail. This test should be written better to make sure it is actually loading the mock and testing what it thinks it is. This is a general problem with these scope test suites. Many have failure test cases, but they aren't very narrowly targeted. The general problem isn't a blocker, but guayadeque at least should fix the typo. The requested fixes will likely land in a few hours in their respective trunks. I will also make sure to review tests for each scope the next time they are updated. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1185050 Title: [MIR] Unity 100-scopes and dependencies To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-dbusmock/+bug/1185050/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 814833] Re: Opening the dash is very slow and laggy
@Nizar, installing more lenses shouldn't slow down the opening of the Dash. I currently have ~20 installed on both a slow and a fast computer and it doesn't impact the fluidity of the Dash (which is excellent on one and terrible on the other). The worst case scenario for these lenses is that they can eat more ram than they should. Nevertheless, I don't know your exact configuration, so maybe they affect your Dash in one way or the other: you can make sure they have been properly removed by looking in /usr/share/unity/lenses and see if they have left files of folders (which should have the lenses names) behind. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/814833 Title: Opening the dash is very slow and laggy To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/814833/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1079283] Re: Unity ignores Gnome privacy settings
I think this bug is more about the fact that the concepts behind the privacy panel are not fully understood/explained. Don't record activity is exactly what it means, it won't record new activity about specific types of files in a specific folder, but previously recorded activities still exist and will be displayed in the Dash. [Bug 1069225] Re: Shotwell thumbnails not shown for raw photos in results
For raw file previews, the Preview thumbnail generator used by the Dash doesn't handle all types of raw files, so the lens is using the *_shotwell.jpg file Shotwell generates in the same folder as the raw file. A file it generates only when the raw is double clicked in Shotwell. One way to fix it would be to use the largest available thumbnail (thumbs360/) in the Preview when the file is not supported, which is obviously quite hard to check, and could also introduce the need to maintain a hardcoded list of raw file extensions. Ideally, we could ask the Dash devs for a Unity method to check if an extension is supported in the Dash (results and previews). [Bug 1056532] Re: geeqie-standard crashes on start with SIGSEGV in editor_command_parse() when unity-lens-photos is installed
I've found the cause of this: Geeqie looks into desktop files to search for graphics applications, but crashes when it encounters a desktop file for a graphic app without the Exec= line. The Photos lens doesn't have this Exec= line because it shoudln't appear (for obvious reasons) as an app in the Applications lens. Would anyone affected by this bug would be willing to test a fix before I make the change in the Photos lens? 1. Ensure you have the Photos lens (unity-lens-photos) installed 2. Ensure that Geeqie crashes when starting. 2. Open the photos lens desktop file for edition: $ gksu gedit /usr/share/applications/unity-lens-photos.desktop 3. Remove Graphics; from the Categories line Categories=Photography; 4. Save the file and open Geeqie. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1056532 Title: geeqie-standard crashes on start with SIGSEGV in editor_command_parse() when unity-lens-photos is installed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity-lens-photos/+bug/1056532/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1062155] Re: Buttons don't adapt to the text size
Hi, could you confirm that your second screenshot is a home Dash preview provided by the Files lens (in the Home Files and Folders category, as opposed to the Videos category)? Previewing a file in the Home from the Videos category should give you something similar to the first screenshot. The bug is caused by the type of preview used by the videos lens (the left side of the preview is larger, to make 16:9 videos look better, hence causing the bug). Hi Israel, the lens only works for photos imported in Shotwell (and Flickr, Facebook, Picasa online accounts). Does the lens works as expected if you import something in Shotwell? [Bug 1048038] Re: photo lens is empty
I get your point, but the lens has been worked on to be very photo centric (as opposed to any image centric), Shotwell being the dedicated application for photo management, it made sense to give it priority. It also makes it much easier to differentiate between image types : things in ~/Pictures can be wallpapers, screenshots and so on, they are Files lens material, things in Shotwell are usually only photos and they can be on an external drive, a SD card, etc. Next cycle, we *should* be able to have support for ~/Pictures, with prioritization for actual photos. Just open a new bug on unity-lens-photos about the fact that it doesn't support stuff in ~/Pictures. It won't be specific for 13.04, but I will set a high priority for it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1048038 Title: photo lens is empty To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-lens-photos/+bug/1048038/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

As a side effect of fixing https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /unity-lens-photos/+bug/1057432 , raw files are now correctly displayed in the results (available in the latest dev snapshot in this PPA : https://code.launchpad.net/~unity-lens-photos/+archive/staging ) Previews are still missing for raw files and it would probably require changes on Unity side, but as it won't land in time this cycle, I'm going to rely on the files Shotwell generates when displaying raw files. Which is not a perfect solution but still a solid workaround for fixing this bug. ** Changed in: unity-lens-photos (Ubuntu) Status: New = In Progress ** Changed in: unity-lens-photos (Ubuntu) Status: In Progress = Confirmed ** Changed in: unity-lens-photos (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = David Callé (davidc3) ** Also affects: unity-lens-photos Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: unity-lens-photos Status: New = In Progress ** Changed in: unity-lens-photos Assignee: (unassigned) = David Callé (davidc3) ** Changed in: unity-lens-photos Importance: Undecided = High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1057949 Title: raw photos shown as generic grey icons To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity-lens-photos/+bug/1057949/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
