[Bug 1048865] Re: The focus randomly changes between windows if easystroke is in use and the evdev driver is built with mtdev

2012-10-15 Thread David López
Hi. Today easystroke has been updated in the archlinux's repos. I've
tested with 3 different drivers

- xf86-input-evdev 2.7.3 built with mtdev driver
- xf86-input-evdev 2.7.3 built without mtdev driver
- xf86-input-evdev 2.6.0 built without mtdev driver

I haven't found this issue with any of the three drivers. It seems that
this bug is fixed, thanks

[Bug 1001429] Re: scroll doesn't work with my touchscreen

2012-10-15 Thread David López
This bug is still present with easystroke 0.5.6 and xf86-input-evdev
driver 2.7.3 built with mtdev 1.1.3 driver, scroll doesn't work at all.
With xf86-input-evdev driver 2.7.3 built without mtdev driver scroll
works with huge lag, it's almost useless. With xf86-input-evdev driver
2.6.0 built without mtdev driver scroll is perfectly smooth and I
haven't notice any issue. Do you want easystroke -v output?

I use 64 bits archlinux in a ekoore perl tablet (wetab, exopc, mobi one
clone; with an egalax touchscreen).

[Bug 1001429] Re: scroll doesn't work with my touchscreen

2012-09-19 Thread David López
A little update; in my Arch system I've downgraded xf86-input-evdev
from 2.7.3 to 2.6.0 (built without mtdev) and now the scroll works
perfectly in easystroke 0.5.5.1. I've had a lot of problem with all the
2.7 evdev drivers (from 2.7.0 to 2.7.3), so maybe this is not an
easystroke issue.

[Bug 1001429] Re: scroll doesn't work with my touchscreen

2012-09-10 Thread David López
Hi Tom. First of all, thank you for easystroke, it's a 'must have'
software in a tablet.

I don't use ubuntu anymore, I've moved to Arch. I've found that
easystroke behavior depends on if evdev driver is built with or without
mtdev, so I have just tested

- easystroke 0.5.5.1 from Arch repo
- easystroke 0.5.4 compiled from sources, replacing 'lboost_serialization_mt'
with 'lboost_serializationt' in Makefile

and

- xf86-input-evdev 2.7.3 from Arch repo (mtdev is a dependence)
- xf86-input-evdev 2.7.3 built from Arch PKGBUILD but removing the mtdev
dependence

I have 2 scroll gestures, named 'Gesto 3' and 'Gesto 4'. These are the
results of the 4 combinations, I've repeated 3-4 times the gestures in
gnome-terminal. By the way, I use LXDE with openbox.

[Bug 1048865] [NEW] The focus randomly changes between windows if easystroke is in use and the evdev driver is built with mtdev

2012-09-10 Thread David López
Public bug reported:

I have a wetab tablet, I used ubuntu 12.04 with easystroke 0.5.4 and
xserver-xorg-input-evdev 2.7.0 from official repos. I have a strange
problem, the focus sometimes changes between windows. For example, if I
have a text editor and a terminal opened, click in the editor and write
with the onboard keyboard, I expected that my text were written in the
editor. However, the focus moves to the terminal and the text is written
in the terminal. Clicking in the editor window doesn't return the focus
to the editor, but moving the editor window gives the focus to the
editor.

It's only an example, the problem don't depend on the editor and the
terminal, lots of apps seems to randomly change the focus.

I've tested in the same tablet with Arch Linux, which uses xf86-input-
evdev driver with mtdev support, and the problem persists. However,
rebuilding the same evdev driver but without mtdev support the problem
dissapears. I've noticed that this problem doesn't appear if easystroke
is not in use. So this problem seems to be connected to easystroke,
evdev and mtdev.

My tablet has an egalax touchscreen. I've read the same problem in a
different machine with the same touchscreen:

[Bug 875603] Re: Help is not in my language

2012-08-02 Thread David López
This bug is still present on precise.

1) I use ubuntu 12.04 64 bits in Spanish
2) I've installed maxima and maxima-doc 5.24.0-1build1, and wxmaxima 11.08.0-1
from the official repository
3) maxima help is translated to Spanish, and wxmaxima automatically reads the
Spanish help for Windows users, so I expected the same behaviour in ubuntu
4) In ubuntu help is on English, and the html files that wxmaxima read (placed
at /usr/share/doc/maxima-doc/html) are in English, not in Spanish

[Bug 887145] Re: Two banshee icons in the panel

2012-07-25 Thread David López
Hi Omer, I'm afraid it's not solved. I've tested in ubuntu 12.04 64bits
fully updated. A lot of programs work fine, but I've found some others
that create a second icon in the panel: texmaker, calibre, ex falso,
avidemux, gconf-editor, workrave, easytag, synaptic, dconf-editor...

Moreover, I've found an intersting behaviour in banshee: if I open
banshee from dash it works fine, it uses the banshee icon in the panel;
However if I insert a music CD (which automatically opens banshee in my
machine) then a second icon in the panel appears.

Wish this helps.

[Bug 1009629] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in DeliverRawEvent()

I used ATI propietary drivers (from ati webpage, not from repository),
last night I installed this update and then my computer refused to start

[Bug 1001429] [NEW] scroll doesn't work with my touchscreen

2012-05-18 Thread David López
Public bug reported:

 I used ubuntu 12.04 and easystroke 0.5.4 in a wetab tablet, I defined a
scroll gesture that worked fine. Today I've updated to 0.5.5.1 but the
scroll doesn't work anymore with my touchscreen. The rest of my 0.5.4
gestures work fine in 0.5.5.1, only the scroll fails and only with the
egalax touchscreen (I've tested with an usb mouse and everything works
as it's supposed). Tested easystroke 0.5.5.1 from PPA and compiling
myself, same bad behaviour in both cases.

[Bug 899793] Re: Ubuntu One sync emblem ruins text icons

2012-04-13 Thread David López
Live icons is a great feature in my opinion. For example when I run
latex I obtain .tex, .log, .aux, .out and pdf files, and when I combine
latex and maxima I also generate .mxx, .mac and .mac.log files. 8 files
with the same name with only differ in extension, 7 of them text files.

My icons are not extremly large (they are out of the box, I haven't
resize them) and I can see 4 lines of text, 5 characters in each line.
Those 20 characters allow me to instantly recognize which one is the
.tex file, wich one are .log, etc, I don't need to look at the
extension. That's the reason which I love live text icons. I attach a
picture.

[Bug 936310] Re: Some applications don't 'auto-show' onboard

2012-04-01 Thread David López
Thanks for opening the dash and nautilus bugs, marmuta. IMHO only dash
is important, the rest of misfunctions are very low importance and don't
worth.

Only for your information, in several applications as vlc, fbreader and

[Bug 878184] Re: Onscreen Keyboard cannot be used to input password in unity-greeter

2012-03-01 Thread David López
The cursor dissapears for me too. Moreover, I also noticed that if
'Onscreen keyboard' is selected in lightdm then the 'physical' keyboard
doesn't seem to work, I press keys in my usb keyboard but nothing seems
to happen.

This bug makes ubuntu precise unusable without a physical keyboard
(unless autologin in on). In my opinion it is not a medium importance
bug, it's critical or high.

[Bug 936310] Re: Some applications don't 'auto-show' onboard

2012-02-29 Thread David López
Some new applications I've found:

- texmaker
- fbreader
- vlc (text boxes in preferences)

I think that all of them, skype and obviously qtoctave are qt-
aplications, so maybe there's a problem with qt interface. I wish this
information helps.

[Bug 936310] Re: Some applications don't 'auto-show' onboard

2012-02-29 Thread David López
Hi Francesco. I'll try to be clearer.

- Open dash (click on the left upper botton with the ubuntu logo). The cursor
is in the text box to find applications, so onboard must auto-unhide. However
it doesn't.
- Open nautilus, right-click on a file and select Rename... It is not exactly a
text box, but the name of the file is selected and the cursor is on it
expecting for a new name, so onboard must auto-unhide, but it remains hidden.

In my opinion the importance of this bugs is low (maybe the dash a
little bigger) because manual unhide allows to use onboard even if auto-
unhide fails. The design of auto-show is fine, and a timeout will also
be nice. Both options are OK while manual unhide/hide pauses auto-
hide/unhide.

[Bug 937882] [NEW] onboard don't work in lightdm login screen in precise alpha2

2012-02-21 Thread David López
Public bug reported:

I have onboard 0.97.0 in precise alpha2 (with virtualbox). In the lighdm
screen onboard don't work, I click on the password box, I click buttons
in onboard but nothing seems to happen. This bug prevents starting a
session without a physical keyboard (unless autologin is on).

Please note, this bug is diferent than #930891 . #930891 is a bug in the
Spanish language that prevents starting onboard (in lightdm or
wherever). I've removed the Spanish language and now onboard can start:
nicely in unity, ugly in lightdm (#937871), but it can start. However in
lightdm it doesn't seem to work.

[Bug 936310] [NEW] Some applications don't 'auto-show' onboard

2012-02-19 Thread David López
Public bug reported:

I'm testing onboard 0.97 in 2 different computers (one with oneiric:
0.97.0+tr756-0ppa~oneiric1, another one with precise alpha2:
0.97.0-0ubuntu1), both of them with auto-show when editing, show when
unlocking, show tooltips, always on top.

Most applications work fine with the new 'auto-show when editing' option, but
I've found a few 'text applications' with wrong behaviour:

- If onboard is hidden, they don't unhide (the right bevaviour is unhide)
- If onboard was automatically unhided by another application , they hide
onboard (the right behaviour is do nothing). Please note that in case of
onboard was unhidden by a 'manual' clicking on onboard's icon, those
applications don't hide onboard (right behaviour)

I post all of wrong applications I've found in only one bug, if you
prefer I can file different bugs.

- opening the dash: this bug is different than #915250 , and this new bug is
present even in unity-2d and with 'always on top' marked
- wxmaxima: cells and text boxes
- qtoctave: the editor
- skype: the user/password window
- tuxpaint: the option to write text in a image (in some other applications as
gimp or xournal this feature works fine)
- the right-click option to rename files in nautilus
- wine: tested with Adob Digital Editions

I use oneiric with 0.97.0+tr756-0ppa~oneiric1. Opening onboard settings
by clicking in the 3 lines button and then in the tools button (not with
onboard-settings) creates a python process in gnome-system-monitor.

[Bug 917386] Re: Unity panel doesn't fit with onboard hide button

2012-02-16 Thread David López
Thanks marmuta, I'm testing auto-show in my PC with precise alpha2 with
virtualbox, and it seems really fast, I haven't noticed any delay.

I would like to test it in my tablet, any chance of updating stable or
snapshot ppa to 0.97.0 in oneiric? Is it 'safe' to use
0.97.0~preview~tr626-0ppa~oneiric1 ? Thanks.

2012-02-16 Thread David López
Sorry, maybe I've been unclear, my tablet uses oneiric. I only see trunk
626 for oneiric in the snaphshot ppa, that's the reason I asked you if
0.97.0 will be in any repo (regular/stable/snapshot) for oneiric.

I only have precise in a virtualbox machine in my PC. I only use it for
testing, not a regular use.

[Bug 917386] Re: Unity panel doesn't fit with onboard hide button

2012-02-14 Thread David López
Glad to hear your're working in the single instance. I tried to program
a script to hide/unhide onboard, but I'm afraid I can't do it:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/103448/script-to-minimize-unminimize-
window-in-unity I hope you can do it, that will be a forward step.

The new option 'Autoshow when editing test' in 0.97 is a great, great
advance. IMHO with this option and 'show status icon' onboard is almost
perfect (*). Congratulations, you're doing a great work.

(*) IMHO, 'perfect' means:

- hide/unhide onboard
- automatically for text boxes, terminals, etc.
- in unity
- with only a finger tap
- without strange floating or status icons

Changing the status icon for the unity panel icon and onboard will be
perfect for me :-D

2) Uso rhythmbox 2.90.1~20110908-0ubuntu1.2

[Bug 930808] Re: quodlibet can't read embedded cover art in ogg files

2012-02-12 Thread David López
Thanks for your quick answer, Christoph. I've reloaded the library and
now quodlibet read the art when I listen to a song (that is, I can see
the cover in the right upper corner of quodlibet and in the transparent
window with huge fonts that appears a few seconds in the upper center of
my desktop).

However there's still a problem, most of the covers don't appear in the
album list view, I attach you an image. All my albums have an embedded
cover in the first song of the album, but in the picture yo can see that
only a few are shown in the album list. 'Reload album cover' doesn't
seem to do anything. And something more weird, if I close and reopen
quodlibet then the album list view show the covers of different albums.
That is, there are covers that sometimes are shown in the album list
view and sometimes there are not shown. And some others, as the song I
sent you by e-mail, are never shown in the album list.

By the way, I've noticed that 'coverart' and 'coverartmime' tags have
dissapeared in quod libet and ex falso, I don't know if it is normal.

** Attachment added: Some covers aren't shown in the album list view

[Bug 917386] Re: Unity panel doesn't fit with onboard hide button

2012-02-12 Thread David López
I've just installed onboard 0.97.0~preview~tr713~sysdef-0ppa~precise1 in
precise alpha2, and now onboard can't be minimized to the unity panel,
because unchecking 'Show status icon' automatically marks 'Show floating
icon when Onboard is hidden'. Is this a bug or is it by design? If it's
by desing in my opinion it's a wrong step, I think that the right place
to hide onboard in unity is the left panel, not a floating icon in the
desktop or the notification area.

[Bug 930808] [NEW] quodlibet can't read embedded cover art in ogg files

2012-02-11 Thread David López
Public bug reported:

1) I use ubuntu 11.10 64 bits

2) I've installed quodlibet 2.3.2.99-0~rev5017~63ad0924efc9~ppa1~oneiric

3) I expected that quodlibet can read the embedded covers in my ogg
files (according to http://code.google.com/p/quodlibet/wiki/FAQ embedded
cover art is pupported in some formats, and according to
http://code.google.com/p/quodlibet/wiki/Development_TagMapping it can
load embedded pictures in Ogg Vorbis / Ogg FLAC / Ogg Speex).

4) quodlibet doesn't read the embedded cover art from my ogg files
(please note that some other applications as banshee and nautilus can
read them).

For your information, I've tested quodlibet 2.3.2-1 in precise alpha2
32bits in virtualbox with the same results. I used easytag to insert the
covers in the ogg files.

Is this a bug or actually quod libet doesn't support this feature for
ogg files? Thanks.

[Bug 917386] Re: Unity panel doesn't fit with onboard hide button

2012-01-21 Thread David López
marmuta, I think that the X icon will be perfect when this issue is
solved.

PD: Francesco, I've started onboard with: Start Onboard hidden, Show
status icon, Show Onboard when locking the screen, Show tool-tips and
Force window to top enabled, and then disabled force to top, and the
icon pallette don't disappear. I've tested in versions 0.96.1 from
official repository (with option LANGUAGE=en) and 0.96.2 from PPA, maybe
this is a new bug in trunk 606.

[Bug 917386] [NEW] Unity panel doesn't fit with onboard hide button

2012-01-16 Thread David López
Public bug reported:

1) I use ubuntu 11.10 completely updated

2) I use onboard 0.96.2 from the stable PPA

3) In unity, when I open onboard with 'show status icon' option marked
then a small icon appears in the top bar, and when I click on 'Hide
onboard' button with the X mark the icon remains on the bar (that's OK).
When I open with 'show status icon' unmarked then a big icon appears in
the left panel (that's OK). I expected that clicking on 'Hide onboard'
minimizates onboard but the icon in the left panel doesn't dissapear.

4) What happened instead: the onboard icon in the left panel dissapears,
so in this case the onboard window can't be recovered and it's necesary
to open a new onboard instance.

Moreover, the 'Hide onboard' icon (X) is confusing, because it's similar
to classical 'close' sign. I haven't notice that that button minimizates
onboard instead of closing it, and I open a new instance over and over;
I didn't know but I had more than 20 onboard instances opened (12MB of
RAM each one).

Please note, the classical small 'minimize' button in the window
decoration worked fine with the unity left panel, it's your own 'Hide
onboard' button which doesn't.

My PC was installed from the official release from ubuntu.com and it
never had installed Italian language. This discard any relation with the
Italian language and the 'unofficial' release. Maybe some recent update
of oneiric broke onboard. A couple of days ago in a regular update the
system several language packages were updated to 11.10+20120103 version:

language-pack-en
language-pack-en-base
language-pack-gnome-en
language-pack-gnome-en-base
language-pack-es
language-pack-es-base
language-pack-gnome-es
language-pack-gnome-es-base

Do you think that those language updates broke onboard? I don't know how
can I revert those updates, oif you tell me I can test it.

Wish this helps. Thanks for you efforts, marmuta.

[Bug 739812] Re: Must use hardware keyboard to perform search for applications in Unity

2012-01-15 Thread David López
I'm affected with this bug (I posted bug #915250) and I'll explain why I
think this bug is critical. Sorry for my English mistakes, I'm Spanish.
I bought a tablet with ubuntu 11.10 preinstalled. The company which
sells the tablet made his own oneiric iso image with some special
additions for tablets. The default desktop in the iso is gnome-shell,
and unity-2d was also preinstalled. unity doesn't.

I installed unity by myself, and I found it perfectly usable in the
tablet (I made a lot of tweaks, for example I remove overlay-scrollbar,
but unity worked fine, IMHO much better than gnome-shell unity-2d). The
only problem I found in unity is this bug of onboard and dash.

I don't know anybody in the company and I don't know why they removed
unity and include unity-2d and gnome-shell, but I wasn't surprised that
it was for this bug. If so, if a bug makes a hardware vendor remove
unity and include gnome-shell, I can imagine a bug more critical than
this one.

I comment you about my locale, not sure if it's related with the bug, the iso
which I use to install ubuntu is not the official release from ubuntu.com, it's
from an Italian company and it includes Italian language. Some days ago I
unistalled Italian language (sorry, I can't remember if it was before of after
the icon problem). Today I've reinstalled the Italian language, but
unfortunately the bug is not solved.

That's my locale:

[Bug 916056] [NEW] Missing mouse buttons

2012-01-13 Thread David López
Public bug reported:

I use onboard 0.96.1-0ubuntu0.1 on ubuntu 11.10 completely updated in a
tablet. Suddenly the mouse icons and preference icons have disappear, I
attached a pair of screenshots in a zip file. Please note, the icons are
missing but the buttons are still present, so if I press in the place
where the icon must be onboard do what it's supposed to do (for example,
the red button in the second screen opens the settings window). However
it's very difficult to press in the right place for the mouse buttons.

I'm not sure if both things are related but I must comment that Onboard
worked fine until I activated 'force to top' (from Bug #915250). I've
tried to disable that option, change transparency, different theme,
compact and full keyboards, unity, unity-2d, gnome-shell, gnome classic
desktops... Same bug.I've tried to change some parameters in Ubuntu
Tweak, but the icons are still missing. There are 12 .svg files in
/usr/share/onboard/layouts/images and eog can open them.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled onboard 0.96.1-0ubuntu0.1 and the
problem persists. I have a PC and onboard works fine on it, I can't
reproduce the bug in the PC. I've compared /usr/share/onboard and
~/.onboard in the PC and in the tablet and they seem the same to me, so
I'm not sure if it is a bug from onboard or from another package. I
don't want to reinstall ubuntu, but onboard is very important in my
tablet and without mouse icons it's hard to use. Any idea? Thanks.

[Bug 915250] [NEW] Onboard doesn't work with unity dash (but it works with unity-2d)

2012-01-12 Thread David López
Public bug reported:

1) I'm using ubuntu 11.10 completely updated
2) I've onboard 0.96.1-0ubuntu0.1 installed from repository
3) When the prompt is in unity dash and I press keys on onboard, I expected
that the keys were written in dash
4) The dash closes

Please note that onboard works fine in unity-2d, it only fails in unity.
I've tested in a PC and a tablet, same results in both. I include 2
videos, with the wrong behaviour in unity and the right bahaviour in
unity-2d.

[Bug 880331] Re: Can no longer shutdown when laptop lid closes

2011-12-06 Thread David López
Thanks for the answer, Sebastien. You don't have to sorry, it's a
pleassure to speak with you. What I'm trying to tell is that ubuntu and
gnome developers don't know who or where those 1% people can be. Maybe
I'm the 1% of a lot of removed options, I gave you those examples for a
reason.

- There's a computer room in my University with old PC's that don't work
fine with Unity, I'm pretty sure that I've tested automatically login in
Unity-2D and didn't work, it always started in Unity, so I believe that
I have to edit a file to solve this problem. However I've just tested in
my own PC and you're right, the automatic login respects the last
desktop udes. Maybe I did something wrong when I tested, maybe a recent
update changed this. It doesn't matter, the main thing is that it works.
Thank you so much for your comment, I have one less problem for the new
course :-D

- Thanks for the link of the groups. In the last course I propose an
exercise: I have a wife and a child, everyone with their own account,
and I want that my wife can read my files but my child not. In 11.04
there was an easy way to solve using User and Groups icon, now I need to
use a console. Not a problem for me, but bad for new users.

- For the power button, I use my computer as a DLNA server to watch in
my TV movies that I have in my hard disk. When I finish to watch them I
used to

(in Ubuntu 11.04)
1-Press power button and go to bed

However now I have to

(in plain ubuntu 11.10)
1- Turn monitor on and wait a few seconds until it responds
2- Enter my password (because screen is locked)
3- Press power button or click on power off upper-right menu
4- Select power off and go to bed

I'm afraid that tweak tools I've used (gconf-editor, Ubuntu Tweak) only
allow to remove the confirmation of menu in the upper-right corner, not
the power off button, so I can only remove a step

(in ubuntu 11.10 with tweaks)
1- Turn monitor on and wait a few seconds until it responds
2- Enter my password (because screen is locked)
3- Click on power-off and go to bed

I had to apply a different approach to have in ubuntu 11.10 the same
behaviour than in 11.04. I wrote in http://askubuntu.com/questions/66723
/how-do-i-set-the-power-button-to-shutdown-instantly-instead-of-
opening-a-dialog/84984#84984 But this solution is not for a new user.

[Bug 880331] Re: Can no longer shutdown when laptop lid closes

2011-12-05 Thread David López
I understand you, Sebastien. But in my opinion the key is the word
'previously'. There are lots of things that were easily configurable in
11.04 and now those options are lost. I've given five examples in gnome-
control-center: configure laptop lid, power button, screensaver, user
groups, automatic login in unity-2d (or gnome-shell).

I'm an 'experienced' user and I can solve those kind of little
misfunctionalities, but I'm pretty sure that new users can't solve those
kind of problems. And I must think as a new user because I used to be a
teacher in a linux course in my university. Last June we choose ubuntu
11.04 in the course, and everybody were surprised how easy, but also how
configurable it was. We'll have a new course on next February and I'm
not sure what distro/DE will use, because ubuntu 11.10 (moreover gnome3)
is a big regression in terms of configurability.

PD: sorry for my bad English, I'm Spanish.

[Bug 880331] Re: Can no longer shutdown when laptop lid closes

2011-12-04 Thread David López
I agree. I miss a lot of things in this new gnome-control-center. For
example, in ubuntu 11.04 (gnome2) we can easily configure laptop lid,
power button, screensaver, user groups, automatic login in unity-2d...
All those things have gone in ubuntu 11.10 (gnome3), now Gnome-Tweak and
Ubuntu-Tweak are essential. Honestly I can't understand the stiffness of
gnome3

[Bug 880331] Re: Can no longer shutdown when laptop lid closes

2011-12-03 Thread David López
Hi Gilles. You can solve this bug (or missfunctionality) of gnome-
control-center using dconf-editor instead of gconf-editor. Open dconf-
editor and navigate to org - gnome - settings-daemon - plugins -
power. Set 'lid-close-ac-action' and/or 'lid-close-battery action' to
'shutdown'.

You can also solve this problem with Gnome-Tweak, navigate to Gnome-
shell and modify 'Laptop lid close action on battery' and/or 'laptop lid
close action when on AC'

Wish this helps.

[Bug 875989] Re: Texmaker doesn't automatically open TeX files

2011-11-13 Thread David López
Hi Sergio. I'm glad you have solved the problem. After reading
http://standards.freedesktop.org/desktop-entry-spec/latest/ar01s06.html
I think that %F is better field code than %U (texmaker can open multiple

change in /usr/share/applications/texmaker.desktop the line

Exec=texmaker

to

Exec=texmaker %F

[Bug 887145] Re: Two banshee icons in the panel

2011-11-08 Thread David López
Sure Loong, I'll write step by step.

1.- Open banshee
2.- Select 'keep in launcher' in the panel
3.- Close banshee
4.- Open gnome-control-center media (not sure in English, in Spanish is the app
'Soportes extraíbles')
5.- Select banshee to open the music CD
6.- Close gnome-control-center media
7.- Insert a music CD (banshee automatically opens and here's the BUG: I'd
expect that banshee uses the icon in the panel but another one appears)
8.- Close banshee
9.- Open nautilus and navigate to the music CD
10.- Click on Open with banshee (the same BUG: I expect that banshee uses the
icon in the panel but another one appears)

I've attached a video. Wish this helps, regards.

David.

[Bug 887806] [NEW] wxmaxima is not in the 'open with' nautilus menu

2011-11-08 Thread David López
Public bug reported:

wxmaxima saves sessions in wxmx files. This files are identified as zip
files and opened with file-roller in nautilus (I would prefer wxmaxima
instead of file-roller, but it's not a bad idea because I think wxmx
files are only xml files with zip compression, so this is not a bug).
However I'd expect that I can open them with wxmaxima at least with
right click in a wxmx file, but wxmaxima is not in the 'open with
another application' menu in nautilus, and I think this is a bug.

I'm using ubuntu 11.10 64 bits and wxmaxima 11.04.0-1. I've solved this
problem:

1- sudo gedit /usr/share/applications/wxmaxima.desktop
2- Replace the line

 Exec=wxmaxima

with the line

  Exec=wxmaxima %U

Now wxmaxima is in the 'open with' menu, and wxmx files can be open from
nautilus

Uso ubuntu 11.10 64 y wxmaxima 11.04.0-1. He resuelto el problema
haciendo lo siguiente

1- sudo gedit /usr/share/applications/wxmaxima.desktop
2- Cambio la línea

 Exec=wxmaxima

por

  Exec=wxmaxima %U

Ahora wxmaxima sí aparece en el menú 'Abrir con otra aplicación y ya se
pueden abrir los archivos wxmx directamente desde nautilus

example, changing

/apps/nautilus/desktop/home_icon_visible
/apps/nautilus/desktop/network_icon_visible
/apps/nautilus/desktop/trash_icon_visible

in gconf-editor nothing seems to happen, but using Gnome Tweak Tool it
works as expected. Same with

/desktop/gnome/interface/buttons_have_icons
/desktop/gnome/interface/menus_have_icons

I attach a video of gconf-editor vs gnome-tweak-tool

[Bug 875989] [NEW] Texmaker doesn't automatically open TeX files

2011-10-16 Thread David López
Public bug reported:

I'm not sure if it's a bug from texmaker or from Ubuntu Onieiric, but I
can't open the tex files automatically with texmaker. Tex files are
opened with gedit, I have to right-clic and select Texmaker to open
them. But I have to do this every time I open a tex file, because I
can't select texmaker to open tex files. I attach an image of the 'Open
with...' programs

I use Ubuntu Oneiric 64bits with Texmaker 3.0.2 installed from the
official repository.

[Bug 876109] [NEW] Thunderbird emoticons are not visible in the menu

2011-10-16 Thread David López
Public bug reported:

Thunderbird emoticons are visible in the mail, but not in the menus. I
think it has no sense that a menu with (emot)icons doesn't show this
icons. I used to solve this fact in Natty activating
'buttons_have_icons' or 'menus_have_icons' in gconf-editor, but it
doesn't work in Oneiric. I attach an image to explain what I'm trying to
say, sorry for my bad English.

---

'menus_have_icons'. Adjunto una imagen.

[Bug 580272] [NEW] Dictonary doesn't work in 1.9.9-2

2010-05-13 Thread David López
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: texmaker

I'm using texmaker 1.9.9-2 from the repository in Ubuntu Lucid 64 bits
and the dictionary doesn't work (see attached image 1.9.9-2.png). If I
try to spell a word with the right-click menu a window opens with a
message that dictionary can't be opened.

I've unistalled texmaker package and I've installed the 1.9.9-1 package
from the official webpage:
http://www.xm1math.net/texmaker/texmaker_1.9.9-1_amd64.deb , and now the
dictionary works fine (see 1.9.9-1.png attached image).

[Bug 288797] Re: [Intrepid] Synaptic unusable - Can not find packages

2008-11-14 Thread David López
I've just made another test. I want to install CDemu, so I have added to
synaptic:

$ echo deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/cdemu/ubuntu intrepid main | sudo tee
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/cdemu.list
$ sudo apt-get update

Everything is OK, in /etc/apt/sources.list.d there's a new file
cdemu.list, and http://ppa.launchpad.net/cdemu/ubuntu intrepid main is
marked in the Synaptic third party repositories.

However, a quick search for cdemu can't find anything. The regular
search works fine and finds 7 packages.

With a new sudo update-apt-xapian-index both searchs work fine.

I hope this might help.

[Bug 288797] Re: [Intrepid] Synaptic unusable - Can not find packages

2008-11-12 Thread David López
Hi!

I'm a new Ubuntu user. I had the same problem with the quick search and
the sudo update-apt-xapian-index fixed it, thanks guys.

I've observed one thing that might help you to find the problem. When I
start Synaptic, it shows all the packages, but when I write 2 or more
letters in the Quick Search, it automatically show ONLY THE INSTALLED
PACKAGES whit these two letters.

Sorry for my bad English, I'm Spanish.
