[Bug 1452004] Re: Pulseaudio network stream gets recurrung short interruptions
I'm now on 16.04 and the problem still persists. [Bug 1510998] Re: Xorg crashes with segfault on 15.10
I already had two crashes today, but no specific xorg file. One of the crashes happened at 12:53:06 according to syslog. Only one file in /var/crash, namely _usr_bin_akonadi_maildispatcher_agent.1000.crash is related to that crash and occurred at 12:53:08 according to the crash file. [Bug 1437867] [NEW] xorg synaptic driver errors
Public bug reported: My touchpad is behaving strangely (As far as I remember it only appeared after some update in Utopic). Using a two or three finger click, it needs several tries till it actually accepts the click. Sometimes the mouse pointer jumps to a different location on the screen when clicking with two or the fingers. Whenever the touchpad is used, errors get logged in /var/log/Xorg.0.log which seem to be related to the synaptic driver. Approximately once every week my X server crashes with a segmentation fault. First the screen turns black and after ~30 seconds the login screen appears. In this case the Xorg.0.log ends like this: (EE) BUG: triggered 'if (priv-num_active_touches priv-num_slots)' (EE) BUG: ../../src/synaptics.c:2991 in UpdateTouchState() (EE) (EE) Backtrace: (EE) 0: /usr/bin/X (xorg_backtrace+0x56) [0x7fbbab374f76] (EE) 1: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input/synaptics_drv.so (0x7fbba294a000+0x527e) [0x7fbba294f27e] (EE) 2: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/input/synaptics_drv.so (0x7fbba294a000+0x75a2) [0x7fbba29515a2] (EE) 3: /usr/bin/X (0x7fbbab1be000+0x95968) [0x7fbbab253968] (EE) 4: /usr/bin/X (0x7fbbab1be000+0xbfff9) [0x7fbbab27dff9] (EE) 5: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 (0x7fbba8ef3000+0x36eb0) [0x7fbba8f29eb0] (EE) 6: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 (__select+0x33) [0x7fbba8fe4673] (EE) 7: /usr/bin/X (WaitForSomething+0x1b4) [0x7fbbab372314] (EE) 8: /usr/bin/X (0x7fbbab1be000+0x57311) [0x7fbbab215311] (EE) 9: /usr/bin/X (0x7fbbab1be000+0x5b706) [0x7fbbab219706] (EE) 10: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 (__libc_start_main+0xf5) [0x7fbba8f14ec5] (EE) 11: /usr/bin/X (0x7fbbab1be000+0x45a8e) [0x7fbbab203a8e] (EE) (EE) [dix] SYN1B7F:01 06CB:2970 UNKNOWN: unable to find touch point 0 (EE) [dix] SYN1B7F:01 06CB:2970 UNKNOWN: unable to find touch point 0 (EE) [dix] SYN1B7F:01 06CB:2970 UNKNOWN: unable to find touch point 0 (EE) [dix] SYN1B7F:01 06CB:2970 UNKNOWN: unable to find touch point 0 (EE) [dix] SYN1B7F:01 06CB:2970 UNKNOWN: unable to find touch point 0 (EE) [dix] SYN1B7F:01 06CB:2970 UNKNOWN: unable to find touch point 0 (EE) [dix] SYN1B7F:01 06CB:2970 UNKNOWN: unable to find touch point 0 (EE) [dix] SYN1B7F:01 06CB:2970 UNKNOWN: unable to find touch point 0 [115313.777] (EE) [115313.777] (EE) Backtrace: [115313.778] (EE) 0: /usr/bin/X (xorg_backtrace+0x56) [0x7fbbab374f76] [115313.779] (EE) 1: /usr/bin/X (0x7fbbab1be000+0x1bb179) [0x7fbbab379179] [115313.779] (EE) 2: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 (0x7fbba8ef3000+0x36eb0) [0x7fbba8f29eb0] [115313.779] (EE) 3: /usr/bin/X (XIGetDeviceProperty+0x40) [0x7fbbab30d8a0] [115313.779] (EE) 4: /usr/bin/X (0x7fbbab1be000+0x14f9f4) [0x7fbbab30d9f4] [115313.779] (EE) 5: /usr/bin/X (0x7fbbab1be000+0x14ff7a) [0x7fbbab30df7a] [115313.779] (EE) 6: /usr/bin/X (0x7fbbab1be000+0x574f7) [0x7fbbab2154f7] [115313.779] (EE) 7: /usr/bin/X (0x7fbbab1be000+0x5b706) [0x7fbbab219706] [115313.780] (EE) 8: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 (__libc_start_main+0xf5) [0x7fbba8f14ec5] [115313.780] (EE) 9: /usr/bin/X (0x7fbbab1be000+0x45a8e) [0x7fbbab203a8e] [115313.780] (EE) [115313.782] (EE) Segmentation fault at address 0x10018 [115313.782] (EE) Fatal server error: [115313.782] (EE) Caught signal 11 (Segmentation fault). [Bug 1172094] Re: xorg synaptic driver crashes
I'm running Kubuntu 14.10 and I am still experiencing the bug. For me it does not seem to be related to suspend/resume, at least it happens long after a resume. Also, there was never a particular high load on the machine. [Bug 1393079] Re: Touchpad not working after suspend/resume
Bernhard, sorry, my bad. I left out one important step. Before compiling you should also edit the file linux-3.16.0/debian.master/changelog and change the version number in the first line to, e.g., 3.16.0-30.40+hidfix Without this, the updater tries to update the newly compiled kernel, even though it has the same version number. Also, there was a kernel update from 3.16.0-29 to 3.16.0-30 sometime within the last 24 hours which still does not include the patch. If you still want to do build the new kernel, delete the old source, update the system and redo all the steps to compile the kernel including the above addition. And remember that you will have to do this every time there is a kernel update. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1393079 Title: Touchpad not working after suspend/resume To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1393079/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Great that it works. Concerning 14.04, I think the bug was not present there, but I'm not sure (see bug description above). [Bug 1393079] Re: Touchpad not working after suspend/resume
Hi Bernhard, yes, this is how it should be done. You can store the patch-file in the linux-3.16.0 directory. Then your point 4 is exactly what you have to execute. But why do you want to compile the kernel? You said that Odie's workaround worked for you. It should also work with your new install and it is easier than the real fix. When I use the python interactive shell I get: Python 2.7.3 (default, Sep 26 2012, 21:51:14) [GCC 4.7.2] on linux2 Type help, copyright, credits or license for more information. import compizconfig ctx = compizconfig.Context() compizconfig - Info: Backend : ini compizconfig - Info: Integration : true compizconfig - Info: Profile : default Speicherzugriffsfehler (Speicherabzug geschrieben) So disable_show_desktop does not seem to be the problem here, at least if the setting is not activated by default ( I have deleted all compiz configuration files in my home directory). Up to now I have no clue how to configure - and so use - compiz at all. Using KWin as a workaround is no real good option for me... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1033669 Title: compizconfig causes python to segfault in quantal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz/+bug/1033669/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 862430] Re: window flicker for a short time after switching workspaces
Hi, I was using the version from the PPA with no problems at all. Unfortunately, compiz was updated yesterday (e.g. compiz-core:amd64 from 0.9.7.8-0ubuntu1vvpreproposed2 to 0.9.7.8-0ubuntu1.2). And now the flicker is there again!?!?! [Bug 1008018] [NEW] amarok: pause/resume cause maximum volume
Public bug reported: After pausing a song, when resumed the volume is set to the maximum value regardless of the previous setting. This behavior started after the upgrade to Precise and only appears with the phonon-backend-vlc and does not happen with phonon-backend-gstreamer. As my volume is usually set to ~30% and the stream goes to my stereo with a 4 sec. delay (using Airport Express), this bug is really annoying. ** Affects: phonon-backend-vlc (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1008018 Title: amarok: pause/resume cause maximum volume To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/phonon-backend-vlc/+bug/1008018/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 909022] Re: Various akonadi processes use 100% CPU and 200% RAM at every KDE session startup
There is some explanation here: http://blogs.kde.org/node/4503 In my case it was not enough to delete $HOME/.local/share/akonadi, I also had to delete $HOME/.config/akonadi and then restart akonadi and update the akonadi configuration. Everything is fine again now. If this happens to a newcomer to Linux, he or she will most probably be lost and will be sitting in front of an unusable system, at least if there is no second computer to look for a solution to the problem... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/909022 Title: Various akonadi processes use 100% CPU and 200% RAM at every KDE session startup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/akonadi/+bug/909022/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 909022] Re: Various akonadi processes use 100% CPU and 200% RAM at every KDE session startup
I ran into this problem this morning. Everything was fine on the first boot. Then I did a hard switch off of my computer (this was not related to akonadi). After starting it again akonadi now fills up the memory very quickly. Unfortunately disabling akonadi permanently is no option for me as I use kmail for all my mails which relies on akonadi. So at the moment I do not have access to any of my e-mails, which is a disaster and I have to find a solution to this as soon as possible. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to akonadi in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/909022 Title: Various akonadi processes use 100% CPU and 200% RAM at every KDE session startup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/akonadi/+bug/909022/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
[Bug 898451] Re: Unable to start ccsm (segmentation fault)
After a compiz updates today I tried to run ccsm again. Unfortunately it still does not work, but something changed. In addition to the output stated in the initial bug report, I get lot's of (ccsm:27947): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_set_qdata: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed before the segmentation fault. I don't know if this is related to the problem. Also, the ccsm window appears for a little less than a second before the segmentation fault. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/898451 Title: Unable to start ccsm (segmentation fault) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compizconfig-settings-manager/+bug/898451/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 918035] [NEW] adduser not working with nis
Public bug reported: I have installed NIS on our servers (Ubuntu Server 10.04.3, all updates installed). Everything is working fine, except for one thing. I added nis in /etc/pam.d/common-password: password [success=1 default=ignore] pam_unix.so obscure sha512 nis Users can now change their passwords on any machine using passwd in the usual way. This works fine. The problem arises if I try to change passwords for root or for a user as root. passwd asks for NIS server root password:, but at that point I have to enter the root or the users(!) password, depending on which password I try to change. So I am not able to change passwords as root if I don't know the users password. In addition, if I try to add a user with adduser, it is not possible to set the users password at all. At the stage where passwd is executed an entry for the new user in /etc/shadow exists, but is disabled with a ! in the password hash field. It seems that nothing works for NIS server root password:. I have tried the root password and simply enter. ** Affects: pam (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/918035 Title: adduser not working with nis To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pam/+bug/918035/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
