[Bug 382705] Re: docky grouped menu titles are too narrow / truncated
Why did you feel the need for such a rude derogatory comment? If you'd looked carefully you'd have seen that it was originally raised as an issue 'years' ago and was raised against gnome-do. It's hardly my fault, nor is it 'LOL' worthy that it hasn't been looked at in that time. Perhaps you could do something useful and confirm if docky still fails to satisfy the defect or not? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/382705 Title: docky grouped menu titles are too narrow / truncated -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 708045] [NEW] [software-center] `unattended` == PornView
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: software-center This may not necessarily be considered a bug in software-center, as it is mostly just displaying content that exists in the Ubuntu package archives, but I thought I should raise this as a potential issue to consider as this genuinely just happened today :-) In the office at work, someone asked me how can I get Ubuntu to automatically install all security updates for me? So I told them about the 'unattended-upgrades' package, which would cause this to happen in the background. They eagerly fired up software- center to see if they had installed the package or not and typed 'unattended' into the search box. Immediately they were confronted with this at the top of of a very short list (complete with 'icon'): PornView PornView is an image and movie viewer/manager with thumbnail previews. Additional features includes thumbnail caching, directory tree views, adjustable zoom, and fullscreen view. Slideshows allow for _unattended_ presentation of images for hands-free viewing. Pornview is written using GTK+. Now, I'm far from being a prude, but multiple questions arise from this: 1) Should such an app be included in universe when Ubuntu is pushing for inclusion in office workplaces and in schools? At the least, judging from the description, it sound like it should be pushed out to multiverse really? 2) Should software-center provide some sort of 'safesearch' option to prevent certain apps from being displayed by default? 3) ... Any thoughts? [Bug 648676] [NEW] software-center sorts 'Provided by Ubuntu' by display name, everything else by package name
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: software-center The right-hand pane in software center is always sorted alphabetically. However, for the 'Provided by Ubuntu' department, these are sorted alphabetically by display name (and each item is displayed as 'Display Name' with a short description underneath). This is how I would expect them to be listed. For the partner repository, PPAs and other sources, the right hand pane is always sorted alphabetically by the APT package name, even though 'Display Name' (from the package description) is the prominently highlighted text. Each item is displayed as 'Display Name' with the package name underneath. IMO, these should all sort by display name. It looks rather strange to see a jumbled mess of package names for PPAs, after seeing cleanly sorted items under the 'Provided by Ubuntu' department. You may be correct that it is an innocuous error, (I'm not using PXE boot on my VMs so don't see any otherwise missing functionality) but afaik it never used to appear on lucid and now appears on maverick packages of kvm so its technically a regression. Having investigated the issue further it seems the `kvm-pxe` package contains this bootroom and installing it makes the warning message go away, so I'm not sure why its not an automatic depends for qemu-kvm? ** Changed in: qemu-kvm (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New -- [kvm] pci_add_option_rom: failed to find romfile pxe-virtio.bin https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/622588 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to qemu-kvm in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 622588] Re: [kvm] pci_add_option_rom: failed to find romfile pxe-virtio.bin
** Changed in: qemu-kvm (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New -- [kvm] pci_add_option_rom: failed to find romfile pxe-virtio.bin https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/622588 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 593477] Re: Use VP8/WebM as the default video codec/format
I think you'll find that the official ffmpeg trunk has only had vpx encoding for around 12 days, and webm muxing for about 8 days. Maverick is still on ffmpeg 0.5.1 (0.5.2 is latest official release) and Ubuntu tracks releases rather than svn snapshots. I'd hence hypothesis that the bugs you've raised again 'project (Ubuntu)' packages are all invalid until a) (at the very least) ffmpeg and gstreamer have made official releases with vpx and webm support and b) the upstreams for each of the projects have similarly made releases with support for vpx and webm either through their own direct linking against libvpx etc., or via ffmpeg/gstreamer prereq -- Use VP8/WebM as the default video codec/format https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/593477 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 534386] [NEW] [patch] gtk-recordmydesktop 'select window' does not include frame on compiz
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gtk-recordmydesktop This patch was already accepted upstream in June 2009 [1]. [Bug 481866] [NEW] genisoimage: add feature to create md5sum.txt/sha1sum.txt/other checksum file
Public bug reported: Copied verbatim from a really old upstream wishlist request on mkisofs. http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=338830 Ubuntu CDs presumably pre-calculate the MD5SUMs before putting the file in the iso, but as this feature request states: it is wasteful to have to read all the files once to generate the checksum and then again to generate the iso, it'd be good to support on-the-fly creation. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM#MD5SUM%20on%20CD --- It is very convenient to be able to check that the contents of a CD or DVD are still intact by having an md5sum.txt file at the root of the filesystem. Creating the file can, however, be somewhat cumbersome, and also requires reading all the data twice: once for generating the checksums, then to generate the disk image. It would be wonderful if mkisofs could do it on the fly. Something like this: mkisofs -checksum-file md5sum.txt -checksum-type md5 ... Obviously it would be good to be able to specify other checksum types than MD5, but even just that would be good enough: this feature is meant for checking that there is no disk corruption, not as a safeguard against tampering or counterfeiting, and MD5 is certainly good enough to detect corruption. I would not even be against creating the checksum file automatically, unless there is already a file by that name, but this may be too fancy for many people. To clarify, since someone asked me about this on irc: the point of the checksum file is to make it possible to check that a disk and its files are still working after, say, the disk has been stored for several years in a cabinet or used as the cat's scratching post. If there is a proper md5sum.txt file one can do this: cd /cdrom md5sum -c md5sum.txt That's quite a convenient way of doing it. ** Affects: cdrkit (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- genisoimage: add feature to create md5sum.txt/sha1sum.txt/other checksum file https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/481866 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
