Yeah im amazed that this has not been sorted yet. Its one of those bugs I experience all the time while using Ubuntu and its the same for anyone else who uses PPA's. [Bug 594619] [NEW] Latest Nvidia driver causes bootup to freeze
Public bug reported: This may be the wrong place to report but anyway... Ubuntu 10.04 64bit was working perfectly until I got updates for the proprietary Nvidia driver. It got updated to version: 195.36.24-0ubuntu1~10.04 I rebooted and Ubuntu stalled at the loading screen. I did a fresh install and installed the same driver straight away... it stalled at the same point. I think this should be fixed really soon as this Nvidia update could be breaking many peoples Ubuntu installs. Its very frustrating to see something pushed out which may not have received enough testing! I have Ubuntu back up and running however without 3D functionality/the proprietary driver. ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Latest Nvidia driver causes bootup to freeze https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/594619 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 570373] Re: Scanning broken with Epson RX585
He told me it appears that something called epkowa is missing in the newer versions of this package. I downloaded both versions of this package and extracted them. I found that the newer version was missing these epkowa files in the following places: --- etc/sane.d/epkowa.conf usr/lib/sane/libsane-epkowa.la usr/lib/sane/libsane-epkowa.so.1 usr/lib/sane/libsane-epkowa.so.1.0.19 --- I also found that the lib/udev/40-libsane-extras.rule file was 1.1kb in the new version and 14.5kb in the old. Seems like alot of functionality was removed... Seems the problem is with the package afterall. -- Scanning broken with Epson RX585 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/570373 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 570373] [NEW] Scanning broken with Epson RX585
Public bug reported: Recently I was asked to help a guy because his scanner was no longer working in newer versions of this package. (1.0.20.1) I told him to install libsane-extras from here: http://packages.ubuntu.com/jaunty/libsane-extras This is because his scanner was previously working with this version of libsane-extras. (1.0.19.11) More than likely this is a problem with the libsane-extras code and not the packaging. I just thought I would report it to somebody who may be able to pass this information on if needed. ** Affects: sane-backends-extras (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Scanning broken with Epson RX585 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/570373 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
