This bug has been reported in July 2015. Hasn't even been assigned to a

than other bugs. This happens after anything to do with audio meaning it
affects all users and annoys all users. Not exactly giving a good first
impression of Ubuntu OS.

[Bug 1491566] Re: Shell not responsive after an incoming SMS

2015-09-09 Thread Dylan Coakley
Please fix this one. I use my Ubuntu phone every day and texting quite a
bit. Meaning this bug happens often.. meaning I have to restart my
phone often.

It seems from my experience that the phone gets slower and slower the
more you text until it locks up completely. After restarting everything
is much faster.

[Bug 782953] Re: Software Center doesn't detect changes in sources until update-apt-xapian-index is ran by cron

2013-05-17 Thread Dylan Coakley
Yeah im amazed that this has not been sorted yet. Its one of those bugs
I experience all the time while using Ubuntu and its the same for anyone
else who uses PPA's. The fact that Synaptic works better with PPA's than
the new modern USC is pretty embarrassing.

In Synaptic I can add a PPA, reload the packages and it even puts the
PPA packages under a section called New in repository. How neat! Now,
if only USC was half as good and could just reload the packages for us.

[Bug 794079] [NEW] Cannot separate clips while audio loading

2011-06-07 Thread Dylan Coakley
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pitivi

I found this bug while using v0.14.0 from the PPA. I dragged my video
down to the timeline and I didn't want to wait until the audio fully
loaded because I wanted to delete it from the video. However when I
clicked Ungroup Clips Pitivi froze completely and I had to force
close.

It would be better if this was possible as there is no point in waiting
for the audio to load if you are only going to be deleting it.

[Bug 707328] Re: Disk drive partially works

2011-04-20 Thread Dylan Coakley
Will anything be done about this? Ive been using Ubuntu full time since
8.04 and it still fails to work in the upcoming 11.04 release. Since
using 8.04 all the way up to 10.10 my disk drive never worked with DVDs
even though the hardware is capable of doing so.

Creating a backup disk is impossible without being able to burn a DVD.
Note that this disk drive is part of a popular PC model sold in ALDI,
which means fixing this could fix the problem of millions of users!

I would love to see this fixed, not just for myself but for everyone
else too!

2010-12-06 Thread Dylan Coakley
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I deleted the image it happened
with, so I can't pass it on. However I don't think there was anything
special about that image. The image was just a simple .png, which I had
already cropped with Shotwell.

I am finding it hard to reproduce this bug but I will try to do exactly
what I did last time and see if it happens again. I will keep ye
updated!

[Bug 660596] Re: Black screen after installing Nvidia drivers on 10.10

2010-11-09 Thread Dylan Coakley
I did have my card working on Ubuntu 10.04 using the 195.36.15 Nvidia
driver just before I got an update to 195.36.24. Then my card would no
longer work as Ubuntu stalled at bootup.

Now in Ubuntu 10.10 after installing this 260.19.06 version of the
Nvidia driver, I get a black screen before it gets to the bootup loading
screen.

Is there any chance of Nvidia-current being updated?? or some other
fixes sent over updates?

[Bug 668382] [NEW] No warning before removing important packages!!

2010-10-29 Thread Dylan Coakley
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: software-center

After removing Evolution I wanted to get rid of all the related packages
to Evolution, which I would imagine alot of other users would too! I
removed libcamel because it was described as MIME handler for Evolution.
However on reboot my Ubuntu install was annoyingly broken!!

After some investigation it seems that removing libcamel also removes
the ubuntu-desktop package! Im very annoyed that this bug is still here
and nobody has reported it or discovered it.

In the following thread I vented my frustration on this issue and
included a screenshot of what it tells you will be removed. The ubuntu-
desktop package is not listed.

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1607443

However I want a very, very obvious warning dialog to show up if ubuntu-
desktop or any important system packages are going to be removed. This
is essential to stop new Ubuntu users from easily breaking their own
Ubuntu installation!

[Bug 665844] [NEW] PulseAudio dies shortly after login

2010-10-24 Thread Dylan Coakley
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

I reported a bug when I was on Ubuntu 10.04 because PulseAudio was
crashing alot after logging in. (maybe 50% of the time PulseAudio
worked)

Now I am glad to say that PulseAudio works about 85% of the time.
However im finding now it crashes shortly after I login. I hear the
login sound playing and when it gets to the really quiet ending part
PulseAudio crashes.

I found this inside the syslog:

Oct 24 10:59:12 dylan-MS-7318 pulseaudio[1753]: module-alsa-card.c: Failed to
find a working profile.
Oct 24 10:59:12 dylan-MS-7318 pulseaudio[1753]: module.c: Failed to load

I also found this inside the kernel log:

I think this is the core of my problem as I have seen the same kind of
messages when I was on Ubuntu 10.04.

[Bug 665844] Re: PulseAudio dies shortly after login

2010-10-24 Thread Dylan Coakley
While im waiting for that apport-collect 665844 to work I did get some
more info for ye guys. Probably not enough though.

The device mentioned in the error message I posted earlier is my webcam:

Bus 001 Device 003: ID 046d:09a4 Logitech, Inc. QuickCam E 3500

You will notice the ID matches the start of the error message device ID.

[Bug 665485] [NEW] Audio Timeline gets stuck at bottom

2010-10-23 Thread Dylan Coakley
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pitivi

Its a really annoying but small bug. Basically the audio timeline gets
stuck below where it should be, if moved down it can't be moved back up.
This bug is easily and 100% reproducible... put the audio one step down
from where it should be and attempt to move it back up.

[Bug 660596] Re: Black screen after installing Nvidia drivers on 10.10

2010-10-23 Thread Dylan Coakley
I can confirm I have this exact same problem. I have an Nvidia 9800GT
512MB. When I install the proprietary driver, I restart. Before it gets
to the Ubuntu loading screen the screen goes completely black!

I have tried it at least 5 times and its still the same result. Getting
that Nvidia driver working for me lately has become a real sore spot of
Ubuntu.

[Bug 430946] Re: [Karmic] phoronix-test-suite gui doesn't work

2010-09-07 Thread Dylan Coakley
This problem also affects me... its really annoying. I successfully ran
the suite with the GUI only once. Any version now fails to run the GUI
even after installing the php5-gtk and adding to php.ini.

Please make a 64bit version of php5-gtk that works with PTS!

[Bug 626284] Re: [Realtek ALC888] pactl stat failed to find default card

2010-08-30 Thread Dylan Coakley
I was tired of struggling with it... so I decided to upgrade PulseAudio
and ALSA with this ppa:

https://launchpad.net/~ricotz/+archive/unstable

Unfortunately I can't get that log for you... but PulseAudio seems to
work fine since I did that upgrade. It only doesn't work for the login
screen and logging in sound. It does work in sessions which is what I
wanted.

[Bug 594619] [NEW] Latest Nvidia driver causes bootup to freeze

2010-06-15 Thread Dylan Coakley
Public bug reported:

This may be the wrong place to report but anyway...

Ubuntu 10.04 64bit was working perfectly until I got updates for the
proprietary Nvidia driver.
It got updated to version:

195.36.24-0ubuntu1~10.04

I rebooted and Ubuntu stalled at the loading screen. I did a fresh
install and installed the same driver straight away... it stalled at the
same point.

I think this should be fixed really soon as this Nvidia update could be
breaking many peoples Ubuntu installs. Its very frustrating to see
something pushed out which may not have received enough testing!

I have Ubuntu back up and running however without 3D functionality/the
proprietary driver.

[Bug 570373] Re: Scanning broken with Epson RX585

2010-04-27 Thread Dylan Coakley
He told me it appears that something called epkowa is missing in the
newer versions of this package.

I downloaded both versions of this package and extracted them.

I found that the newer version was missing these epkowa files in the
following places:

---
etc/sane.d/epkowa.conf
usr/lib/sane/libsane-epkowa.la
usr/lib/sane/libsane-epkowa.so.1
usr/lib/sane/libsane-epkowa.so.1.0.19
---

I also found that the lib/udev/40-libsane-extras.rule file was 1.1kb
in the new version and 14.5kb in the old. Seems like alot of
functionality was removed...

Seems the problem is with the package afterall.

[Bug 570373] [NEW] Scanning broken with Epson RX585

2010-04-26 Thread Dylan Coakley
Public bug reported:

Recently I was asked to help a guy because his scanner was no longer
working in newer versions of this package. (1.0.20.1)

I told him to install libsane-extras from here:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/jaunty/libsane-extras

This is because his scanner was previously working with this version of
libsane-extras. (1.0.19.11)

More than likely this is a problem with the libsane-extras code and not
the packaging. I just thought I would report it to somebody who may be
able to pass this information on if needed.
