I Actually resolved this.
Seemes that an old installation had blacklisted nvidia-updates module from
loading.
After removing the blacklist from /etc/modprobe.d the nvidia driver
started working again.
The installer of the package should check if there exists an blacklist
of the module when

I testet both speakers and headphones, none where working even after several
computer restarts.
But after updating the system today, things started working again. I also
noticed I was missing some permissions, because I was unable to suspend the
computer using the menu. I had to call sudo
