[Bug 934189] Re: desktop focus interferes with conky

2015-04-12 Thread GrouchyGaijin
I recently installed the Compiz Settings Manager and using their Window
Rules option I was able to tell Compiz to never focus on my Conky
window. I needed to restart for the change to take effect, but that has
totally solved the problem on my system.

[Bug 934189] Re: desktop focus interferes with conky

2015-04-08 Thread GrouchyGaijin
I am on 14.04 64bit.

When I set the conky window to override I also get something similar to
overlapping letters.
When the conky updates it looks as though letters are written on top of letters
that were already there - this makes it very difficult to read what conky is
displaying.

[Bug 994773] [NEW] Spell check keyboard short cut doesn't work in 12.04

2012-05-04 Thread GrouchyGaijin
Public bug reported:

I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 on two different laptops. A Dell Inspirion 1520 and
an EeePC 1000H.
Since installing 12.04 the keyboard shortcut for spell check (Shift+F7) no
longer works on either machine.

Release 12.04 (precise) 32-bit
Gedit: 3.4.1-0ubuntu1

When I pressed Shift_F7 I expected the spell check window to appear and
offer choices for misspelled words or tell me that there are no
misspelled words.

Nothing seems to happen at all.

2012-05-02 Thread GrouchyGaijin
Adding INIT_HALT = POWEROFF to /etc/default/halt did not solve my
problem. The only thing that seems to work for me is to use a different
kernel and not use any Nvidia drivers.

What do I need to do to change the status of this bug from incomplete?
Does incomplete mean that no one will work on fixing the bug?

Thank you

[Bug 991977] [NEW] Ubuntu 12.04 hangs on shutdown

2012-04-30 Thread GrouchyGaijin
Public bug reported:

I'm running a Dell Inspiron 1520 with an Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS.
The computer hangs on shutdown and reboot.

I tried adding INIT_HALT = POWEROFF to /etc/default/halt and that seems to stop
the problem with rebooting.
I tried changing video drivers from 295.40 to 290.10 as I read in a thread on
launchpad. That did not help.

I did a clean install and the problem persists.

I didn't have this problem on 11.10 although I've heard that some people
did.
