[Bug 1726783] Re: blueman-manager crashed with dbus.exceptions.DBusException in err(): org.bluez.Error.ConnectionAttemptFailed: Page Timeout

At a subsequent try I could establish a connection, but no sound came
out. By turning off the profile, then turn on to audio, it was possible
to direct the sound to the device. But, sound was prone to stuttering at
any action (like typing this text).

[Bug 248870] Re: [Upstream] Autosave causes document to scroll back to cursor position

2015-10-12 Thread Hartwig Kolbe
We have now LO 5.02, and this ancient bug still makes the focus jumping around
when trying to edit an object bigger than the screen (table, ole, picture,
etc). You really have to be fast when you want to resize such objects,
otherwise your focus is back to the cursor, and you lost the handle.
This is one of the major obstacles using LO with other than really simple
documents..

[Bug 1318321] Re: the cache has no package error when wine update is available

2015-06-13 Thread Hartwig Kolbe
My 14.04.2 64bit has the error message The cache has no package named
wine1.7-i386.

If this is caused by an available update for wine, how to resolve it?
Manually install what? There is no indication that there is an update
pending.

I tried sudo apt-get install wine-compholio:i386 as recommended here
earlier, but it results in Unable to locate package wine-compholio.

[Bug 1012081] Re: util-linux needs updating to 2.24.2

2015-04-30 Thread Hartwig Kolbe
In 12.10 to 14.04, I was using several ntfs partitions which got auto-mounted
by fstab entries, using
...uid=1000,gid=1000,x-gvfs-show,x-gvfs-name=something.
With a new PC I installed 14.04.2 64bit, and use ext4 for these shared disks.
Unfortunately, doing so had me hit by this bug. Since auto-mounting is
necessary, I tried to find a solution which took me to this thread.
Well, I tried to use the updated util-linux from the above mentioned ppa by
Ivan Larionov.
The fstab entries done by the gnome-disk-utility v 3.10.0 which comes with
14.04.2 are still causing problems at boot.
After some try and error I found that the entry in fstab needs to be
...comment=x-gvfs-show... as opposed to ...x-gvfs-show... entered by the
gnome-disk-utility when Show in user interface is checked.

2015-04-30 Thread Hartwig Kolbe
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1012081 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1012081

Mentioned in #1012081, there is a new version for util-linux available via a
ppa.
I installed that new version: The entry in fstab created by gnome-disk-utility
(v 3.10.0) when Show in user interface is checked, x-gvfs-show still causes
problems at boot, but, now, adding comment= according to post 22 works.
The developers did not agree on the interface here.
So, it is only partially a duplicate of bug #1012081.

[Bug 1404762] Re: apparmor profile usr.sbin.clamd does not allow ScanOnAccess via fanotify

2015-04-08 Thread Hartwig Kolbe
As another try, I tried to disable the apparmor profile by
  cd /etc/apparmor.d/disable
  ln -s ./../usr.sbin.clamd
as described by Thomas above. Unexpectedly, that did not get rid of the message
ERROR: initgroups() failed.
I found I had a file usr.sbin(Kopie).clamd in that folder; this file was a
backup of the original, and got used by apparmor (went into the cache folder).
After removing this backup copy (and reload apparmor) clamd could start.

Next try: use the original usr.sbin.clamd and add capability setgid, as
recommended by Christian above.
After reload apparmor and restart clamd I got ERROR: Failed to change socket
ownership to group clamav Closing the main socket.
But at system restart clamd started without error.
So, it was the backup file in /etc/apparmor.d which caused the trouble.
Maybe, I will gradually find out how to get on-access scan working.

[Bug 1404762] Re: apparmor profile usr.sbin.clamd does not allow ScanOnAccess via fanotify

2015-04-08 Thread Hartwig Kolbe
Now, that on-access scan seems to be working, I tried some cases:
No detections when I copied some Eicar files around in subfolders of
/home/hartwig. However, I got a detection when I placed an Eicar file directly
into that folder (mentioned in /var/log/clamav/clamav.log). It looks like that
only the folder mentioned in the OnAccessIncludePath parameter is scanned, but
no subfolders. Any way to include subfolders?

However, this behaviour does not seem to be connected to apparmor, so it
is off-topic for this bug. I put my observations into the original
clamav question
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/clamav/+question/263109.

no any reaction?
Does that mean on-access scanning does not work with clamav (non-detection of

Because of lacking compatibility with apparmor?

some further info:

I added to usr.bin.clamd:

and used aa-logprof to add some more items:
  capability chown,
  capability dac_override,
  capability fsetid,

[Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates

2014-06-09 Thread Hartwig Kolbe
What is disturbing here is the fact that this bug is unassigned or (in case of
pulseaudio) marked invalid.
That means nobody feels responsible and takes care.
We - most probably - will have to wait a long time for this problem to be
solved.

Since the manual loading of module-bluetooth-discover seems to help in
my case, is there a simple way to automatically load it at log-in?

[Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates

2014-06-04 Thread Hartwig Kolbe
However, the headset seems to work properly if the command
   pactl load-module module-bluetooth-discover
is executed directly after startup/login before any paired BT device tries to
connect - from a terminal window, returning 24.
It should be called automatically, but that doesn't seem to happen, or,
something unloads it automatically. Syslog has no entry for
module-bluetooth-discover.

Btw., Blueman seems to screw up in this case, so I don't use it.

[Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates

2014-06-03 Thread Hartwig Kolbe
update:
After power down and restart this morning I tried again:
Bluetooth recognized my paired headset as connected, displayed the lock in the
icon, but in sound settings the headset did not show up, no sound from headset.
After
  pactl load-module module-bluetooth-discover
  24
After that the headset is connecting and functioning.

So, it seems, sometimes BT can be activated directly after reboot by
loading its discovery module (which in my case returned 24).

[Bug 1274613] Re: module-bluetooth-discover does not load on login

2014-06-03 Thread Hartwig Kolbe
for me bluetooth also does not find my devices.
lsb_release -rd apt-cache policy pulseaudio-module-bluetooth
Description:Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

but:
pactl load-module module-bluetooth-discover
Failure: Module initialization failed

Everything worked just fine in 13.10, before upgrade to 14.04.

[Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates

2014-06-03 Thread Hartwig Kolbe
Bluetooth worked well in 13.04 and 13.10, but after upgrade to 14.04 it does
not work anymore.
I am using a generic USB dongle (CSR) on an old 32 bit system.

grep pulseaudio.*bluetooth /var/log/syslog
 pulseaudio[3094]: [pulseaudio] module.c: Module module-bluetooth-discover
should be loaded once at most. Refusing to load.

pactl load-module module-bluetooth-discover
Failure: Module initialization failed

would be nice, if bluetooth could work again

[Bug 1293532] [NEW] pdfshuffler freezes at pdf export in 13.10

2014-03-17 Thread Hartwig Kolbe
Public bug reported:

Pdfshuffler version 0.6.0 (actual from universe).
After upgrading from 13.04, pdfshuffler will freeze at exporting (save as) pdf.
The pdf file is created ok, but pdfshuffler does not close its export window.
Only way is to terminate via pdfshuffler's window close button (not the export
window close button).

** Affects: pdfshuffler (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1085169] Re: LibreOffice Menus Stop Working even with libreoffice=1:3.6.2~rc2-0ubuntu4 and indicator-appmenu=12.10.3-0ubuntu2.1

2013-04-27 Thread Hartwig Kolbe
Is this fixed in 13.04? If so, I'll upgrade (despite other showstoppers like
bug #1075923).
Alternatively, will installing LO 4 solve the issue?
Or, will there be an official update on 12.10 (for LO 3.6)?

[Bug 1075923] Re: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share

Today, gvfs was automatically updated via software update.
Is this problem solved, now?
How to check gvfs version?

[Bug 1085169] Re: LibreOffice Menus Stop Working even with libreoffice=1:3.6.2~rc2-0ubuntu4 and indicator-appmenu=12.10.3-0ubuntu2.1

2013-01-15 Thread Hartwig Kolbe
This bug is really annoying, I sometimes have to re-start LO after each menu
action, at other times it would run for an hour or more.
I am on i386, with only one monitor, old Radeon 200 graphic.
dpkg-query -l libreoffice-core
Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold
| Status=Not/Inst/Conf-files/Unpacked/halF-conf/Half-inst/trig-aWait/Trig-pend
|/ Err?=(none)/Reinst-required (Status,Err: uppercase=bad)
||/ Name  Version   Architecture  Description
+++-=-=-=-===
ii libreoffice-core 1:3.6.2~rc2-0ubun i386 office
productivity suite -- arch-dependent files

dpkg-query -l indicator-appmenu
Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold
| Status=Not/Inst/Conf-files/Unpacked/halF-conf/Half-inst/trig-aWait/Trig-pend
|/ Err?=(none)/Reinst-required (Status,Err: uppercase=bad)
||/ Name  Version   Architecture  Description
+++-=-=-=-===
ii indicator-appmenu 12.10.3-0ubuntu2. i386 Indicator for
application menus.

Any chance that this will get solved in foreseeable time?
This bug is around since more than a month, with no visible progress.
Seems the only way to overcome (and be able to work with 12.10 and LO) requires
to turn-off the global menu altogether:
sudo apt-get remove indicator-appmenu appmenu-gtk appmenu-gtk3 appmenu-qt
If some lucky day someone finds a solution, we can try the global menu again:
sudo apt-get install indicator-appmenu appmenu-gtk appmenu-gtk3 appmenu-qt
